  • This study is necessary for the stable settlement of the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum 'data and possibility' area. This study was conducted centering on literature analysis. The purpose of this study is to realize statistics education in line with the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum. This purpose was achieved by examining the statistics learning contents of the 2022 revised curriculum, analyzing Chinese mathematics curriculum, and analyzing Chinese mathematics textbooks. In this study, the following studies were conducted. First, five elements were extracted through the analysis of the 'statistics and probability' area of the Chinese mathematics curriculum. The extracted elements are the 4th grade goals, synthesis and practice content areas, achievement standards for statistics and probability (6), (9), and (11). Second, examples presented in Chinese mathematics textbooks and Chinese curriculum appendices related to the extracted elements were analyzed. Regarding the 4th grade goal, the statistical problem-solving process of the 7th grade 2nd semester mathematics textbook was analyzed. Regarding the synthesis and practice content area, the data analysis unit of the 8th grade 2nd semester mathematics textbook was analyzed. In relation to the achievement standard (6), Example 85 of the curriculum appendix was analyzed, in relation to the achievement standard (9), Example 86 was analyzed, and in relation to the achievement standard (11), Example 87 was analyzed. Third, based on the analysis results, implications for the development of new curriculum and 'textbook development, teaching and learning methods' according to the 2022 revised middle school mathematics curriculum were derived. Through the results of this study, we expect the successful realization of the 2022 revised middle school mathematics and curriculum statistics education.

  • The revised 2022 educational curriculum highlighted the significance of mathematical literacy as a foundational competency that can be cultivated through the learning of various subjects, along with language proficiency and digital literacy. However, due to the lack of a precise definition for mathematical literacy, there exists a challenge in systematically implementing it across all subjects in the educational curriculum. The aim of this study is to clarify the definition of mathematical literacy in the curriculum through a literature review and to analyze the application patterns of mathematical literacy in other subjects so that mathematical literacy can be systematically applied as a basic literacy in Korea's curriculum. To achieve this, the study first clarifies and categorizes the meaning of mathematical literacy through a comparative analysis of terms such as numeracy and mathematical competence via a literature review. Subsequently, the study compares the categories of mathematical literacy identified in both domestic and international educational curricula and analyzes the application of mathematical literacy in the education curriculum of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, where mathematical literacy is reflected in the achievement standards across various subjects. It is expected that understanding each property by subdividing the meaning of mathematical literacy and examining the application modality to the curriculum will help construct a curriculum that reflects mathematical literacy in subjects other than mathematics.

  • Aging and damaged underground utilities cause cavity and ground subsidence under roads, which can cause economic losses and risk user safety. This study used infrared cameras to assess the thermal characteristics of such cavities and evaluate their reliability using a CNN algorithm. PVC pipes were embedded at various depths in a test site measuring 400 cm × 50 cm × 40 cm. Concrete blocks were used to simulate road surfaces, and measurements were taken from 4 PM to noon the following day. The initial temperatures measured by the infrared camera were 43.7℃, 43.8℃, and 41.9℃, reflecting atmospheric temperature changes during the measurement period. The RP algorithm generates images in four resolutions, i.e., 10,000 × 10,000, 2,000 × 2,000, 1,000 × 1,000, and 100 × 100 pixels. The accuracy of the CNN model using RP images as input was 99%, 97%, 98%, and 96%, respectively. These results represent a considerable improvement over the 73% accuracy obtained using time-series images, with an improvement greater than 20% when using the RP algorithm-based inputs.

  • Reflection in teacher education is one reform effort that has taken hold in many teacher preparation programs. However, how to define it and how to foster it in a teacher's education are problematic issues. In this study, on the basis of literature review, science teachers' reflective thinking is defined as a process of thinking that deliberates on alternatives to solve conflict between one's previous knowledge/belief/practice and internal/external factors in science teaching context. Based on this definition, three types of science teachers' reflective thinking (i.e. technical reflection, professional reflection and critical reflection) were proposed. In addition, a framework of classifying the reflective thinking's types was also developed. To investigate science teachers' reflective thinking, two pre-service science teachers who majored in physics education participated in this study. The participants presented the monthly report on reflective practice, pre/post questionnaire, and education practicum journals. Individual interviews with them were conducted before and after their teaching activities. From the analysis of the data, it was possible to categorize the reflective thinking of the participants into three types. The major type of their reflective thinking was the technical reflection. However, it was difficult to find examples of the critical reflection.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of small-scale chemistry(SSC) laboratory activities implemented in high school chemistry II classes on the students' inquiry process skills and science-related attitudes. For this study, 112 students in the 12th grade were chosen and divided into an experimental and a control group. Seven SSC lab programs that can replace the traditional experiments in chemistry II textbooks were selected and administered to the experimental group while the traditional textbook experiments were administered to the control group. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the enhancement of inquiry process skills between the two groups while no significant difference was found in science-related attitudes. Further analysis showed that the difference in the inquiry process skills came from the basic inquiry process skills. The experimental group students thought that the SSC experiments have many advantages compared to the traditional experiments, e.g., individual work, learning lab and theory in parallel, short experiment time, safety, environmental aspects, etc. These results suggest that the SSC lab programs are valuable in high school chemistry classes and developing and distributing various SSC lab programs is needed to replace the traditional experiments in the current textbooks.

  • This paper presents a method for the automatic recognition of pitch accents over syllables. The method that we propose is based on the time-delay recursive neural network (TDRNN). which is a neural network classifier with two different representation of dynamic context: the delayed input nodes allow the representation of an explicit trajectory F0(t) along time. while the recursive nodes provide long-term context information that reflects the characteristics of pitch accentuation in spoken English. We apply the TDRNN to pitch accent recognition in two forms: in the normal TDRNN. all of the prosodic features (pitch. energy, duration) are used as an entire set in a single TDRNN. while in the distributed TDRNN. the network consists of several TDRNNs each taking a single prosodic feature as the input. The final output of the distributed TDRNN is weighted sum of the output of individual TDRNN. We used the Boston Radio News Corpus (BRNC) for the experiments on the speaker-independent pitch accent recognition. π 1e experimental results show that the distributed TDRNN exhibits an average recognition accuracy of 83.64% over both pitch events and non-events.

  • Courier services users' experience of violating privacy affects psychology and behavior of protecting personal privacy. Depending on what privacy infringement experience (PIE) of courier services users, learning about perceived privacy infringement incidents is made, recognition is formed, affection is formed, and behavior is appeared. This paradigm of changing in privacy psychologies of courier services users has an important impact on predicting responses of privacy protective action (PPA). In this study, a theoretical research framework are developed to explain the privacy protective action (PPA) of courier services users by applying attitude theory. Based on this framework, the relationships among past privacy infringement experience (PIE), perceived privacy risk (PPR), privacy concerns (i.e., concerns in unlicensed secondary use (CIUSU), concerns in information error (CIE), concerns in improper access (CIA), and concern in information collection (CIC), and privacy protective action (PPA) are analyzed. In this study, the proposed research model was surveyed by people with experience in using courier services and was analyzed for finding relationships among research variables using structured an equation modeling software, SMART-PLS. The empirical results show the causal relationships among PIE, PPR, privacy concerns (CIUSU, CIE, CIA, and CIC), and PPA. The results of this study provide useful theoretical implications for privacy management research in courier services, and practical implications for the development of courier services business model.

  • This study presents a model for educational planning based on user participatory design for the purposes of curriculum development and educational space innovation. It reviewed previous research and practices related to educational space innovation, educational planning processes, and user participation design and suggested a draft model. This model was applied in the renovation project of an elementary school, and the problems encountered during the application were reflected upon and used to improve the model. The final model comprises four phases. Phase 1 is an initial exploratory phase foruser participation, where educational planners and users form a shared perspective regarding the future of education. Phase 2 is a needs-analysis phase for the transition to future education, which focuses on setting the overall direction of the school-level curriculum. Phase 3 specifies the direction of future school curricula and identifies needs for educational spaces. Finally, Phase 4 focuses on the interaction between educational and space planners. Based on the above discussion, the study discussed the benefits and limitations of this educational planning model for school space innovation.

  • This study aims to investigate the impact of mathematical journal writing activities on sixth-grade students' mathematics anxiety and the 'writing' aspect of mathematical communication. For this purpose, 27 sixth-grade students participated in 14 sessions of mathematical journal writing activities while learning division with fractions and decimals. Mathematics anxiety was measured using a questionnaire, with pre- and post-test results statistically analyzed. Mathematical communication in the 'writing' domain was quantitatively measured using an analytical framework to track changes in levels. Additionally, 13 students were interviewed to examine the impact of journal writing on mathematics anxiety and mathematical communication in more detail. The study found that among the four main factors of mathematics anxiety, there was a significant reduction in the subject-specific and environmental factors. The average levels of 'expression' and 'explanation' in the 'writing' domain of mathematical communication gradually increased, with specific teacher feedback supporting improvements in students' communication levels. Based on these findings, the study suggests implications for the use and guidance of mathematical journal writing activities in school settings.

  • Uzbekistan, one of the top five cotton-producing countries in the world, primarily focuses its textile and fashion industry on raw cotton exports and the sewing industry. For Uzbekistan to achieve high added value, it is essential for the textile and fashion industry, which is currently at the CMT(cut, make, and trim) stage, to upgrade to OEM (original equipment manufacturing), ODM (original design manufacturing), and OBM (original brand manufacturing). South Korea recognizes Uzbekistan as a potential manufacturing base and trading partner and has invested Official Development Assistance (ODA) funds for the development of Uzbekistan's textiles and apparel sector. This study aims to evaluate Uzbekistan's fashion higher education in the context of global competitiveness and measure the need and prospects for education ODA from the Korean government in this field. Comprehensive investigations, including surveys of academics, industry experts, and government officials, in-depth interviews, and focus group interviews, were conducted to understand Uzbekistan's current fashion education environment. According to the research results, despite the textile and fashion sectors playing a pivotal role in the Uzbek economy, there is room for improvement in the curricula and teaching and learning methods of the fashion higher education programs. This study holds significance as foundational data for establishing education ODA strategies.
