The energy absorption efficiency of a wave power generation system is calculated as the ratio of the wave power to the power of the system. Because absorption efficiency depends on the dynamic behavior of the wave power generation system, a dynamic analysis of the wave power generation system is required to estimate the energy absorption efficiency of the system. In this study, a dynamic analysis of the wave power generation system under wave loads is performed to estimate the energy absorption efficiency. RecurDyn is employed to carry out the dynamic analysis of the system, and the Morison equation is used for the wave load model. According to the results, the lower the wave height and the shorter the period, the higher is the absorption efficiency of the system.
In this paper, the extended Biot's semilinear model was developed. Combining the extended Biot model with the dynamic equation yields the nonlinear wave equation in poproelastic sound absorbing materials. Both perturbation and matching techniques are used to find solutions for nonlinear wave equations. By comparing results between linear and nonlinear wave solutions, characteristics of nonlinear waves in poroelastic sound abosrbing materials have been studied. Nonlinear waves were found to be attenuated faster than the linear ones. A maximum amplitude of the nonlinear wave occurred near its surface boundaries and decay quickly with distance from the surface. It has also been found that, if the amplitudes of linear waves are known at the surface boundaries, those of nonlinear ones can be determined. This will be the basis of finding effects of nonlinearity on the absorption coefficient and the transmission loss.
This paper presents the numerical simulation results for the dynamic responses of two types of submerged floating tunnels (SFT) under wave and/or seismic excitations. Time domain simulations are conducted by the commercial program OrcaFlex (OF) and in-house CHARM3D program (CP). The dynamic performances of a short/rigid/free-end SFT section with vertical and inclined mooring lines are evaluated. The SFT numerical models were validated against Oh et al.'s (2013) model test results under regular wave conditions. Then the numerical models were further applied to the cases of irregular waves or seismic motions. The main results presented are SFT surge/heave motions and mooring tensions. The general trends and magnitudes obtained by the two different software packages reasonably agree to each other along with experimental results. When seabed seismic motions are applied to the SFT system, the dynamic responses of SFTs are small but dynamic mooring tension can significantly be amplified. In particular, horizontal earthquakes greatly increase the dynamic tension of the inclined mooring system, while vertical earthquakes cause similar effect on vertical mooring system.
PURPOSES : The dynamic modulus can be determined by applying the various theories from the Impact Resonance Testing(IRT) Method. The objective of this paper is to determine the best theory to produce the dynamic modulus that has the lowest error as the dynamic modulus data obtained from these theories(Complex Wave equation Resonance Method related to either the transmissibility loss or not, Dynamic Stiffness Resonance Method) compared to the results for dynamic modulus determined by using the Universal Testing Machine. The ultimate object is to develop the predictive model for the dynamic modulus of a Linear Visco-Elastic specimen by using the Complex Wave equation Resonance Method(CWRM) came up for an existing study(S. O. Oyadiji; 1985) and the Optimization. METHODS : At the destructive test which uses the Universal Testing Machine, the dynamic modulus results along with the frequency can be used for determining the sigmoidal master curve function related to the reduced frequency by applying Time-Temperature Superposition Principle. RESULTS : The constant to be solved from Eq. (11) is a value of 14.13. The reduced dynamic modulus obtained from the IRT considering the loss factor related to the impact transmissibility has RMSE of 367.7MPa, MPE of 3.7%. When the predictive dynamic modulus model was applied to determine the master curve, the predictive model has RMSE of 583.5MPa, MPE of 3.5% compared to the destructive test results for the dynamic modulus. CONCLUSIONS : Because we considered that the results obtained from the destructive test had the most highest source credibility in this study, the dynamic modulus data obtained respectively from DSRM, CWRM were compared to the results obtained from the destructive test by using th IRT. At the result, the reduced dynamic modulus derived from DSRM has the most lowest error.

In many dynamic problems such as foundation vibrations ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation and blasting analysts are confronted with the problem of wave propagation in an infinite or semi-infinite media. In order to simulate this situation by a finite analytical model provisions must be made to absorb the stress waves arriving at the boundary. Absorbing boundaries are mathematical artifacts used to prevent wave reflections at the boundaries of discrete models for infinite media under dynamic loads. An analytical study is carried out to examine the effectiveness of Lysmer-Kuhlemeyer model one of the most widely used absorbing boundaries. Validity of the absorbing boundary conditions suggested by Lymer-Kuhlemeyer is examined by adopting the solution of Ewing et al. to the problem of plane waves from a harmonic normal force on the surface of an elastic half-space. The Ewing's problem is than numerically simulated using the finite element method on a semi-circular mesh with and without absorbing boundaries which are represented by viscous dashpots. The absorption ratios are calculated by comparing the displacements at the absorbing boundaries to those at the free field without absorbing boudaries.

Seismic safety analysis of rockfill dams are consist of the stability analysis as an simplifed method and the dynamic analysis as an detailed method. When high risk dams such as Multi-purpose dams were often applied detailed method by dynamic analysis, dynamic properties of dam materials such as shear modulus are considered as most important factor. Dynamic material properties such as shear modulus had to be investigated by cyclic triaxial test et al. during design and construction stage but these were not conducted because of the condition of domestic seismic design technique. MASW and SASW methods had been applied as a non destructive method to investigate dynamic material properties of existing rockfill dam, has no problems in dam safety at present. These methods were usually performed under the assumptions that the subsurface can be described horizontally homogeneous and isotropic layers. Recent studies(Marwin, 1993, Kim, 2001) showed that surface waves generated through inclined structures have different characteristics from those through a horizontally homogeneous layered model. further Kim et al(2005) and Min and Kim(2006) showed that central core type rockfill dam overestimated the shear wave velocities as increasing the depth through the 3D numerical modelling dut to the effect of outer rockfill and geometrical reasons In this study the results of shear wave velocities of seven rockfill dams form comprehensive facility review, was carried out from 2003 to 2007, were collected and analysed to establish the shear wave velocity distribution characteristics in increasing confining stress in rockfill dams and surface wave velocity ranges in rockfill dam through MASW and the limitation in application are discussed to be utilized as an reference value for dynamic analysis.

The floor impact noise of concrete structures in apartments buildings is affected from the flexural wave propagation characteristics. Accordingly, the measurement of wave propagation characteristics is required for suggestion of efficient method to reduce the impact noise. The purpose of this article is to propose an experimental technique to measure dynamic properties of concrete structures. The method was proposed using the flexural wave propagation characteristics. Wave speeds, bending stiffness and their loss factors are estimated from which the vibration dissipation capabilities are investigated. Several different concrete beam structures were custom-built for measurement. The damping treatments using viscoelastic materials for reducing noise generation are also tested. The beam transfer function of the damped beam is predicted using the compressional damping model from which the mechanism of the vibration energy dissipation is investigated.

Relative bow-motions of a ship in wave are investigated by using linear theory. The relative displacement is assumed to be composed of incident wave elevation, motion response, dynamic swell-up and ship wave elevation. Radiation problem is solved by distributing sources on the hull surface and wave elevation in a uniform stream is obtained by integrating Havelock's function with centerplane source distributions. Relative displacements for I.T.T.C. S7-175 model are calculated. Dynamic swell-ups make the relative displacement larger except small heading angles. Amplitudes of relative motion on weather-side are generally larger than those on lee-side. Ship wave elevations in a uniform stream also give considerable contributions and our calculations are verified to be reasonable in comparison with experimental results.
It is very important for impact analysis to reflect the dynamic characteristics of materials as well as the static characteristics. As the dynamic behavior of a material is different from the static(or quasi-static) one due to the inertia effect and the stress wave propagation, an adequate experimental technique has to be developed to obtain the dynamic responses for the corresponding level of the strain rate. To determine the dynamic characteristics of materials, the Hopkinson bar (compression type) experiment is carried out. For using dynamic material properties, Johnson-Cook model is applied in impact analysis with explicit finite element method
A continuing elevated bridge is replaced with mass-spring system model, and a part of the bridge is cut out as an analytical area. A viscous boundary is installed at both ends, and dynamic analyses are carried out changing the wave velocity of the viscous boundary, The result is compared with a result of a very long model corresponding to the solution with infinite length. A wave velocity is chosen so that the good performance of a viscous boundary is exhibited. The parametric analyses are carried out changing the model of various structural properties, and an approximation expression is suggested to obtain the wave velocity easily for setting a viscous boundary.
