  • The purposes of this study are to investigate the stereotype of position and direction that users expect door lock control devices in different orientations, and to collect information regarding preferred door lock design and orientations. Six hundred subjects aged from lOs to 60s were surveyed under the operating conditions of three different door locks(cylindrical, circular-type, and lever-type auxiliary locks) mounted on the miniature door in two different orientations(right and left side). The door locks presented to the subjects were the most widely used door locks in our living environment. The results indicated that if the door locks were seen from the inside, 59~67% of the subjects expected 'vertical' position locking depending on the door lock control types, cylinder or auxiliary lock. When the door locks were seen from the outside, the locking direction of door lock control was not consistent either 'clockwise' or 'counterclockwise'. It was rather dependent on the orientation of the door lock positions. As a concluding remark, it is better to design and install door lock control devices in the way that users expect them to work.

  • Recently, digital door locks have been widely used as physical security devices for the door. Although they are convenient compared to the existing lock system, they have the problem of being opened by an electric shock. In this study, to improve safety, a method to hide the door-lock device inside and to display the door-lock on a user's smart-phone screen through the augmented reality is suggested. Furthermore, an additional function has been added which provides memo notes to facilitate communication among family members. The results of this study have been implemented by using motors to control locks, Wi-Fi shield, Arduino, and a virtually created door and showed desirable experimental results.

  • This paper implements a door lock using PIR sensor based on Arduino. When the PIR sensor detects movement, the door lock device is activated and RFID tags can be used. This door rock can prevent lonely death by detecting whether the resident is in or out, and it also has hygienic advantage because it unlocks without contact by using RFID. In addition, as door locks are frequently used in everyday life, the above-mentioned implementation can also increase participation in hands-on lectures.

  • This paper introduces a testbed which is suitable for the study of security issues arising in applications involving internet appliances. The testbed implements secure door locks by utilizing the intranet in the building and is composed of two main parts, namely a database server and door locks each of which equipped with a custom-made embedded system. The main objective is to provide a platform for teaching the conflict among real-time specifications, security requirements, and limited-resource constraints. After definitions of threat, vulnerability, and attack are given, we discuss how the testbed can be applied as an education tool for these concepts. Finally, the effects of sequential and multitasking operations are given as a case study.

  • Recently, OTP (One-time-Password) log-in methods have been used in many areas to prevent leakage of personal information and enhance security. The OTP method is primarily used for security of bank personal account, this is one of the sophisticated security ways in which one time password is generated and checked to enhance security. Digital door locks frequently used in everyday life require convenience and safety simultaneously. Meanwhile, related technologies for digital door locks are evolving, but methods for enhancement of security are still unsatisfactory. Generally, the digital door lock using password input type has been most commonly used and especially it provides more convenience, but it has some problems such as password exposure and password oblivion. Therefore, in this study, we propose and implement the OTP-based digital door lock system with enhanced security and convenience features but without the risk of password exposure and oblivion.

  • Recently, door locks have become popular. However, it is often more difficult to recognize the vulnerability of the door lock than to recognize it as more convenient and secure than a mechanical key. Therefore, in this study, the function of the door lock was improved and the weak points were reinforced. Door lock is vulnerable to heat when a fire occurs, so that the door may not open. Therefore, the door is automatically opened when the internal temperature of the fire site exceeds a predetermined temperature by attaching a heat sensor. In the room, the door was automatically opened without having to press the password. Through the proposed function, it can be expected to prevent the casualties in case of fire.

  • The paper attempts to design and implement the system which can remotely check visitors' speech or Image by a mobile phone. This system is designed to recognize who a visitor is through the automatic calling service, not through a short message, via the mobile phone, even when the home owner is outside. In general, door locks are controlled through the home Server, but it is more effective to control door locks by using DTMF signal from a real-time point of view. The technology suggested in this paper makes it possible to communicate between the visiter and the home owner by making a phone call to tile home owner's mobile phone automatically when the visiter visits the house even if the home owner is outside, and if necessary, it allows for the home owner to control the door lock remotely. Thanks to the system, the home owner is not restricted by time or space for checking the visitor's identification and controlling the door lock. In addition, the security system is improved by changing from the existing password form to the combination of password and speaker verification lot the verification procedure required for controlling the door lock and setting the environment under consideration of any disadvantages which may occur when the mobile Phone is lost. Also, any existing problems such as reconnection to tile network for controlling tile door lock are solved by controlling the door lock in real time by use of DTMF signal while on the phone.

  • In this paper, unlike door locks that are controlled only by the existing keypad because electronic devices can be easily operated through apps on smartphones in modern society, an app was created using app inventory so that door locks can be controlled using smartphones. Through the Bluetooth module experiment, the communication distance with the smartphone was controlled up to 10m when there were no obstacles, and through the voice recognition experiment, the recognition rate was 85% and 90% at 500~1000Hz and 1000~1500Hz, respectively, and 70% and 80% at 80dB noise. Through the results of the experimental evaluation, it was confirmed that convenience and security could be improved.

  • For opening and shutting function, door has some hardware such as hinges and the locks. The folding mechanism of hinges represent mobility, and the lock means stability. The opening and shutting door-the mobility-could be interpreted the movement from flat state to three-dimensional structure. The folding mechanism also would be understood variable feature to the space. This study focus on the Folding Furniture which adapted the good point of hinges to make efficient use of the space. The folding furniture presented in this study has not only artistic meaning which expand and apply structural function of hinges, but also flexible reanalysis on the environment and the space which change with social, economic and cultural trend.
