Net present value (NPV) and return on investment (ROI) are commonly used to evaluate investment in new technologies. Sometimes, however, measuring the value of investment in new IT becomes very difficult due to its wide scope of application coupled with embedded options in its adoption. Therefore, comprehensive but easily understandable methodologies are needed to solve the complicated problems resulting from the complexity of new technologies. This paper employs a real option analysis to evaluate RFID adoption in the supply chain. Real options analysis should be a better way to evaluate a disruptive technology like RFID. However, the pure (probabilistic) real option rule characterizes the present value of expected cash flows and the expected costs by a single number, which is not realistic in many cases. To solve the problem, this paper considers the real option rule in a more realistic setting, namely, when the present values of expected cash flows and expected costs are estimated by trapezoidal fuzzy numbers.

The architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is yet to formulate a holistic strategy to realign the evolving technological infrastructures with organisational ambitions and adaptive knowledge of the workforce. This study attempts to create an understanding of the underlying processes adopted by technology-enhanced construction organisations to disseminate and maintain knowledge within the workforce in order to keep pace with the evolving construction technologies. The study adopted expansive learning and adaptive expertise constructs to help better explain workplace learning support structures for organisational effectiveness in a turbulent situation. The two theories were tailored to empirically evaluate three case study construction organisations that have embarked on technology-enabled organisational changes. The study concluded on the creation of a facilitating workplace learning environment to enable the workforce to adapt into and resolve any inherent contradictions and cognitive ambiguities of the changing organisational conditions. This could ensure that novel and conflicting features of the emerging technologies can be adapted across the myriad multi-functional project activities in order to expand the frontiers of the technological capabilities to address the eminent issues confronting the AEC sector.

Digital Transformation in the maritime transportation sector means "by utilizing digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, Internet of Things, block chain, and cloud to create new business models, products, and services for maritime transportation-related companies. It can be defined as a continuous process that adapts to or drives disruptive changes in the market" (Chang, 2021). In a situation where various digital conversion technologies are applied and started to be used in the domestic port logistics field, active acceptance by members can bring about the success of digital conversion. Therefore, in this study, in order to investigate the acceptability of digital transformation in the domestic port logistics sector,

The prospects of current and coming solar-photovoltaic (PV) technologies are envisioned, arguing this solar-electricity source is beyond a tipping point in the complex worldwide energy outlook. Truly, a revolution in both the technological advancements of solar PV and the deployment of this energy technology is underway; PV is no longer an outlier. The birth of modern photovoltaics (PV) traces only to the mid-1950s, with the Bell Telephone Laboratories' development of an efficient, single-crystal Si solar cell. Since then, Si has dominated the technology and the markets, from space through terrestrial applications. Recently, some significant shift toward technology diversity have taken place. Some focus of this presentation will be directed toward PV R&D and technology advances, with indications of the limitations and relative strengths of crystalline (Si and GaAs) and thin-film (a-Si:H, Si, Cu(In,Ga)(Se,S)2, CdTe). Recent advances, contributions, industry growth, and technological pathways for transformational now and near-term technologies (Si and primarily thin films) and status and forecasts for next-generation PV (nanotechnologies and non-conventional and "new-physics" approaches) are evaluated. The need for R&D accelerating the now and imminent (evolutionary) technologies balanced with work in mid-term (disruptive) approaches is highlighted. Moreover, technology progress and ownership for next generation solar PV mandates a balanced investment in research on longer-term (the revolution needs revolutionary approaches to sustain itself) technologies (quantum dots, multi-multijunctions, intermediate-band concepts, nanotubes, bio-inspired, thermophotonics, ${\ldots}$ and solar hydrogen) having high-risk, but extremely high performance and cost returns for our next generations of energy consumers. This presentation provides insights to the reasons for PV technology emergence, how these technologies have to be developed (an appreciation of the history of solar PV)-and where we can expect to be by this mid-21st century.
After Satoshi Nakamoto published 'Bitcoin: A peer-to-peer electronic cash system' in 2008, Blockchain has been GPT (General Purpose Technologies) that affect the whole cycle of the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution. This study attempted to identify the innovativeness of Blockchain. Because of Blockchain's ambidextrous characteristics, Blockchain has two kinds of innovativeness, technological innovation by physical technology and social innovation by social technology. Thus, this study will be useful to increase understanding and establishing strategy for Blockchain.

Guaranteeing interoperability between devices and applications is the core role of standards organizations. Since its first JPEG standard in 1992, the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) has published several image coding standards that have been successful in a plethora of imaging markets. Recently, these markets have become subject to potentially disruptive innovations owing to the rise of new imaging modalities such as light fields, point clouds, and holography. These so-called plenoptic modalities hold the promise of facilitating a more efficient and complete representation of 3D scenes when compared to classic 2D modalities. However, due to the heterogeneity of plenoptic products that will hit the market, serious interoperability concerns have arisen. In this paper, we particularly focus on the holographic modality and outline how the JPEG committee has addressed these tremendous challenges. We discuss the main use cases and provide a preliminary list of requirements. In addition, based on the discussion of real-valued and complex data representations, we elaborate on potential coding technologies that range from approaches utilizing classical 2D coding technologies to holographic content-aware coding solutions. Finally, we address the problem of visual quality assessment of holographic data covering both visual quality metrics and subjective assessment methodologies.

Consumer innovativeness plays a vital role in explaining consumer dynamics, such as adoption, usage, and behavioral intention, in the new world of disruptive online media. This empirical study aimed to examine the importance of consumer innovativeness and digital literacy in the adoption and expansion of new technology-based media services, focusing on OTT services. Extending the theory of adoption of new technologies by innovators to new media environment centered on OTT services, it examines the influence of the four dimensions of motivated consumer innovativeness on OTT service usage. The Korea Media Panel Data of 2019, where overall ICT usage and media consumption of a broad panel of respondents was collected, was used for the analysis. From the data of 10,864 respondents, 4,031 (37.1%) were found to have experience in using OTT services. To clarify the mediating effect of digital literacy on the correlations between cognitive innovativeness of consumers and their use of OTT services, Process Macro Model 4 was used. The bootstrap method was applied to reveal that all four dimensions of consumer innovativeness have a significant indirect effect on new media usage through digital literacy, thus indicating how digital literacy plays an important role in the spread of new digital services in addition to consumer innovativeness. The findings are important in that they can help in the efforts to introduce new technologies to the public and educate them to improve their digital literacy so that they can enjoy the complete experience of using these new digital products.

Millimeter wave communication is one of the main disruptive technologies in upcoming 5G mobile networks. One of the first candidate applications, which will be commercially ready by 2020, is wireless backhaul links or wireless last mile communication. This paper provides an analysis of this use-case from radio engineering and implementation perspectives. Furthermore, preliminary experimental results are shown for a proof-of-concept wireless backhaul solution developed within the EU-KR 5GCHAMPION project, which will be showcased during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Korea. In this paper, we verify system level calculations and a theoretical link budget analysis with conductive and radiated over-the-air measurements. The results indicate that the implemented radio solution is able to achieve the target key performance indicator, namely, a 2.5 Gbps data rate on average, over a range of up to 200 m.
With rapid change and intensive competition in the global economy, the capability to capture, absorb, develop, and transfer new knowledge is a key organizational success factor. Through effective learning, companies are more likely to develop the innovation, quality, and responsiveness essential to meet the growing expectations of customers and the disruptive threats of competitors and new technologies. In the paper the role of technological innovation and its relationship to organizational learning in managing technology-based new products are examined. Several factors which can influence the rate and effectiveness of organizational learning are identified. Barriers to learning also are discussed. Finally, several managerial implications and propositions for future research on learning and technological innovation are advanced.
The transition from "More-of-Less" markets (economies of scale) to "Less-of-More" markets (economies of scope) is supported by advances of disruptive manufacturing and reconfigurable-supply-chain management technologies. With the prevalence of cyber-physical manufacturing systems, additive manufacturing technology is of great impact on industry, the economy, and society. Traditionally, backbone structures are built via bottom-up manufacturing with either pre-fabricated building blocks such as bricks or with layer-by-layer concrete casting such as climbing form-work casting. In both cases, the design selection is limited by form-work design and cost. Accordingly, the tool-less building of architecture with high design freedom is attractive. In the present study, we review the technological trends of additive manufacturing for construction-scale additive manufacturing in particular. The rapid tooling of patterns or molds and rapid manufacturing of construction parts or whole structures is extensively explored through uncertainties from technology. The future regulation still has drawbacks in the adoption of additive manufacturing in construction industries.
