The authors apply the transfer influence coefficient method to the 3-dimensional vibration analysis of beam with multi-joints and formulate a general algorithm to analysis the longitudinal, flexural and torsional coupled free vibration. In this paper, the structure, which is mainly founded in the robot arms, cranes and so on, has some crooked parts, subsystems and joints but has no closed loop in this system. It is modeled as the beam of a distributed mass system with massless translational, rotational and torsional springs in each node, and joint elements of release or roll at which node the displacement vector is discontinuous. The superiorty of the present method to the transfer matrix method in the computation accuracy was confirmed by the numerical computation results. Moreover, we confirmed that boundary and intermediate conditions could ve controlled by varying the values o the spring constants.

In the country with frequent earthquakes like Japan, resistance to earthquake is assessed on the basis that Dam body's Face slab is destroyed by concentrated stress. In our country this kind of modeling and analysis is not yet definitely established. This paper performed pseudo static analysis and dynamic analysis for CFRD and evaluated reliability with the results of Shaking Table Test. The Seismic coefficient method, modified seismic coefficient method, Newmark method of Pseudo-static analysis and frequency domain response analysis, time domain history analysis of dinamic analysis were used. The analysis results were differ between analysis method, but the trends of acceleration and displacement were good agreement with the results of shaking table test.

This paper introduces a method of measuring the displacement of a cable-stayed bridge using digital image processing (DIP). The validity of the DIP technique was confirmed by comparing the results with those obtained using a displacement meter and ANSYS analysis. The normalized cross-correlation (NCC) coefficient was used. 100 kgf and 200 kgf loading experiments were carried out, which showed that when the displacement is large, the reliability of the DIP technique is increased. That is, when the load was increased from 100 kgf to 200kgf, it decreased from 31% to 14% compared to the ANSYS results and from 14% to 4% compared to the displacement meter results. Therefore, the image processing method is able to measure the displacement sufficiently accurately.
In this paper, the condensation method which is based on the Rayleigh-Ritz method, is described for the free vibration analysis of axially loaded slightly curved beams subject to partial axial restraints. If the longitudinal inertia is neglected, some of the Rayleigh-Ritz minimization equations are independent of the frequency. These equations can be used to formulate a relationship between the weighting coefficients associated with the lateral and longitudinal displacements, which leads to "connection coefficient matrix". Once this matrix is formed, it is then substituted into the remaining Rayleigh-Ritz equations to obtain an eigenvalue equation with a reduced matrix size. This method has been applied to simply supported and partially clamped beams with three different shapes of imperfection. The results indicate that for small imperfections resembling the fundamental vibration mode, the sum of the square of the fundamental natural and a non-dimensional axial load ratio normalized with respect to the fundamental critical load is approximately proportional to the square of the central displacement.

The present work aims to analyzed the transient thermoelastic stress analysis of a thin circular plate with uniform internal heat generation. Initially, the plate is characterized by a parabolic temperature distribution along the z-direction given by T = T0(r, z) and perfectly insulated at the ends z = 0 and z = h. For times t > 0, the surface r = a is subjected to convection heat transfer with convection coefficient hc and fluid temperature T∞. The integral transform method used to obtain the analytical solution for temperature, displacement, and thermal stresses. The associated thermoelastic field is analyzed by making use of the temperature and thermoelastic displacement potential function. Numerical results are carried out with the help of computational software PTC Mathcad Prime-3.1 and shown in figures.
This study investigates a new optimal placement method for viscous dampers between structures in order to prevent pounding of adjacent structures with different dynamic characteristics under earthquake effects. A relative displacement spectrum is developed in two single degree of freedom system to reveal the critical period ratios for the most risky scenario of collision using El Centro earthquake record (NS). Three different types of viscous damper design, which are classical, stair and X-diagonal model, are considered to prevent pounding on two adjacent building models. The objective function is minimized under the upper and lower limits of the damping coefficient of the damper and a target modal damping ratio. A new algorithm including time history analyses and numerical optimization methods is proposed to find the optimal dampers placement. The proposed design method is tested on two 12-storey adjacent building models. The effects of the type of damper placement on structural models, the critical period ratios of adjacent structures, the permissible relative displacement limit, the mode behavior and the upper limit of damper are investigated in detail. The results of the analyzes show that the proposed method can be used as an effective means of finding the optimum amount and location of the dampers and eliminating the risk of pounding.
The yaw and interference effects of blades affect aerodynamic performance of large wind turbine system significantly, thus influencing wind-induced response and stability performance of the tower-blade system. In this study, the 5MW wind turbine which was developed by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) was chosen as the research object. Large eddy simulation on flow field and aerodynamics of its wind turbine system with different yaw angles($0^{\circ}$, $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$) under the most unfavorable blade position was carried out. Results were compared with codes and measurement results at home and abroad, which verified validity of large eddy simulation. On this basis, effects of yaw angle on average wind pressure, fluctuating wind pressure, lift coefficient, resistance coefficient, streaming and wake characteristics on different interference zone of tower of wind turbine were analyzed. Next, the blade-cabin-tower-foundation integrated coupling model of the large wind turbine was constructed based on finite element method. Dynamic characteristics, wind-induced response and stability performance of the wind turbine structural system under different yaw angle were analyzed systematically. Research results demonstrate that with the increase of yaw angle, the maximum negative pressure and extreme negative pressure of the significant interference zone of the tower present a V-shaped variation trend, whereas the layer resistance coefficient increases gradually. By contrast, the maximum negative pressure, extreme negative pressure and layer resistance coefficient of the non-interference zone remain basically same. Effects of streaming and wake weaken gradually. When the yaw angle increases to $45^{\circ}$, aerodynamic force of the tower is close with that when there's no blade yaw and interference. As the height of significant interference zone increases, layer resistance coefficient decreases firstly and then increases under different yaw angles. Maximum means and mean square error (MSE) of radial displacement under different yaw angles all occur at circumferential $0^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$ of the tower. The maximum bending moment at tower bottom is at circumferential $20^{\circ}$. When the yaw angle is $0^{\circ}$, the maximum downwind displacement responses of different blades are higher than 2.7 m. With the increase of yaw angle, MSEs of radial displacement at tower top, downwind displacement of blades, internal force at blade roots all decrease gradually, while the critical wind speed decreases firstly and then increases and finally decreases. The comprehensive analysis shows that the worst aerodynamic performance and wind-induced response of the wind turbine system are achieved when the yaw angle is $0^{\circ}$, whereas the worst stability performance and ultimate bearing capacity are achieved when the yaw angle is $45^{\circ}$.
To design a structural or a mechanical system with the best performance, the main procedure of a typical design usually consists of repeated modifications of design parameters and the investigation of the system response for each set of these parameters. But this procedure requires much time, effort and experience. Sensitivity analysis can provide systematic information for improving performance of a system. The author has studied on the development of the structural analysis algorithm and suggested recently the transfer stiffness coefficient method(TSCM). This method is very suitable algorithm to a personal computer because the concept of the TSCM is based on the transfer of the nodal stiffness coefficients which are related to force and displacement vectors at each node. In this paper, a new sensitivity analysis algorithm using the concept of the TSCM is formulated for the computation of state variable sensitivity in static problems. The trust of the proposed algorithm is confirmed through the comparison with the computation results using existent sensitivity analysis algorithm and reanalysis for computation models.
This paper investigates the optimized parameters of Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) for vibration control of high-rise structures including Soil Structure Interaction (SSI). The Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) method is employed for optimization. The TMD Mass, damping coefficient and spring stiffness are assumed as the design variables of the controller; and the objective is set as the reduction of both the maximum displacement and acceleration of the building. The time domain analysis based on Newmark method is employed to obtain the displacement, velocity and acceleration of different stories and TMD in response to 6 types of far field earthquakes. The optimized mass, frequency and damping ratio are then formulated for different soil types; and employed for the design of TMD for the 40 and 15 story buildings and 10 different earthquakes, and well results are achieved. This study leads the researchers to the better understanding and designing of TMDs as passive controllers for the mitigation of earthquake oscillations.
