This study investigated the effects of the geometric parameters of superelastic shape memory alloy (SE SMA) fibers on the pullout displacement recovering and self-healing capacity of reinforced cementitious composites. Three diameters of 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0 mm and two different crimped lengths of 5.0 and 10.0 mm were considered. To provide best anchoring action and high bond between fiber and cement mortar, the fibers were crimped at the end to create spear-head shape. The single fiber cement-based specimens were manufactured with the cement mortar of a compressive strength of 84 MPa with the square shape at the top and a dog-bone shape at the bottom. The embedded length of each fiber was 15 mm. The pullout test was performed with displacement control to obtain monotonic or hysteretic behaviors. The results showed that pullout displacements were recovered after fibers slipped and stuck in the specimen. The specimens with fiber of larger diameter showed better displacement recovering capacity. The flag-shaped behavior was observed for all specimens, and those with fiber of 1.0 mm diameter showed the clearest one. It was observed that the length of fiber anchorage did not have a significant effect on the displacement recovery, pullout resistance and self-healing capacity.
This paper proposes an approximate procedure to estimate seismic displacement capacity - defined as yield displacement times the displacement ductility - of piles in marine oil terminals. It is shown that the displacement ductility of piles is relatively insensitive to most of the pile parameters within ranges typically applicable to most piles in marine oil terminals. Based on parametric studies, lower bound values of the displacement ductility of two types of piles commonly used in marine oil terminals - reinforced-concrete and hollow-steel - with either pin connection or full-moment-connection to the deck for two seismic design levels - Level 1 or Level 2 - and for two locations of the hinging in the pile - near the deck or below the ground - are proposed. The lower bound values of the displacement ductility are determined such that the material strain limits specified in the Marine Oil Terminal Engineering and Maintenance Standard (MOTEMS) are satisfied at each design level. The simplified procedure presented in this paper is intended to be used for preliminary design of piles or as a check on the results from the detailed nonlinear static pushover analysis procedure, with material strain control, specified in the MOTEMS.

In this study, We examine closely the capacity spectrum method which a kind of displacement-based method evaluated by displacement of structure as an alternative to the load-based analysis method. The displacement-based method can easily review the strength of structure, seismic performance, ductility. Seismic performance by using capacity spectrum method is divided into design response spectrum and capacity spectrum. We can diagram design response spectrum by deciding the design seismic factor depending on performance target, site classification, seismic level, return period as UBC-97. Capacity spectrum is a load-displacement curve obtained by Push-over analysis considering the geometric parameter and the material parameter. We execute the seismic performance evaluation by using the capacity spectrum method to reinforced concrete pier which has been seismic design. As a result, We confirmed that there is a yield point and a ultimate point close by design response spectrum of UBC-97.

Europe and US which have more restrictive regulations than Korea about the noise and vibration during construction are using Auger-cast Pile to reduce the problem relating with noise and vibration. However Auger-cast Pile has problems like difficult quality control and low bearing capacity. In Europe, Displacement in-situ concrete Pile has been used to sove that problems since 1990s, and Korea has performed the test construction in 1997 and it has been used as the real structural foundation since 1998. Test and real construction results verified that the allowable capacity of the pile(diameter = 410mm) is between 70 and 100ton. Though De Beer & Van Imps design method utilizing CPT result is used to calculate the bearing capacity of the Displacement in-situ Pile, Korea is dependant upon the SPT as the sounding test, so design method utilizing SPT result is necessary to promote the application of the pile. To find out reasonable design method using SPT result, rearing capacity of the pile constructed in sand and clay in Korea was calculated using Meyerhof, SPT-CPT translation method, Nordlund, Douglas and DM-7 method, and the calculation results were compared to the load test result. Analysis result shows that SPT-CPT translation method is more reliable than others and economical design can be possible because it considers efficiently the friction capacity of Displacement in-situ Pile.

The present seismic analysis of Road-Bridge Design Standard is on a basis of load-based analysis which lets structures have the strength over load. In this study, the capacity spectrum method, a kind of displacement based method, which is evaluated by displacement of structure, is presented as an alternative to the analysis method based on load. Seismic capacity is performed about the existing reinforced concrete pier which has already secured seismic design by capacity spectrum method. As a result. capacity spectrum method could realistically evaluate the non-elastic behavior of structures easily and quickly and the displacement of structures for variable ground motion level. And it could efficiently apply to an evaluation of seismic capacity about the existing structure and a verification of design for capacity target of the new structure.
This paper presents a comprehensive work on determination of yield base shear coefficient and displacement ductility factor of three to eight story actual reinforced concrete buildings, instead of using generic frames. The building data is provided by a walkdown survey in different locations of the pilot areas. Very detailed three dimensional models of the selected buildings are generated by using the data provided in architectural and reinforcement projects. Capacity curves of the buildings are obtained from nonlinear static pushover analyses and each capacity curve is approximated with a bilinear curve. Characteristic points of capacity curve, the yield base shear capacity, the yield displacement and the ultimate displacement capacity, are determined. The calculated values of the yield base shear coefficients and the displacement ductility factors for directions into consideration are compared by those expected values given in different versions of Turkish Seismic Design Code. Although having sufficient lateral strength capacities, the deformation capacities of these typical mid-rise reinforced concrete buildings are found to be considerably low.

Recently, a concern to verify the displacement capacity of shear wall has been arised to produce suitable data for the performance based design. In this paper, a process is presented In evaluate the displacement capacity of shear wall. The displacement of shear wall is expressed as the superpositopn of shear and flexural deformation. Variable crack angle truss model with a modification and existing analysis program(XTRACT) are used in calculating shear and flexural displacement, respectively. The accuracy of proposed method is evaluated by the comparison calculation results with previous test results. From the comparison, it was shown that the displacement capacity of shear wall could be well predicted by using the process.
In order to investigate the effect of the pile shape on the bearing capacity of non-displacement piles, a series of model pile load tests were performed using a calibration chamber and three model piles with different shape. Results of the model tests showed that the bearing capacity of tapered piles was affected by its taper angle as well as the stress states and relative density of soil. Based on the results of model pile load tests, a new design equation for estimation of the bearing capacity of non-displacement piles was proposed, and it takes into account the effect of the taper angles on the bearing capacity of non-displacement piles.
