Simple desing of FIR filters using resistor array (저항열을 이용한 간단한 FIR 필터의 설계방법)

  • In this paper a method of designing FIR filters without digital arithmetic operationsi is persented. The filter coefficients are represented by resistors combined with a differential amplifier. With this method an FIR filter can be simply impemented without refering to complex digital arithmetic operations. Furthermore, in this scheme, no additional D/A converter is needed for D/A conversion. Spectral response response of a pulse shaping filter of 17 coefficients is shown as an illustration.

  • This paper treats the computational time delay issue in designing digital control systems. The computational time delay margin, within which the closed-loop stability is guaranteed, is analyzed using Rouche theorem. A PID control algorithm is proposed for compensating the computational time delay. Finally, the analyzed and the exact computational time delay margins are compared, and the performance of the proposed PID controller is shown through an illustrative example.

  • This paper develops a design technique for approximating nonseparable frequency characteristics by sums and products of separable transfer functions. Therefore nonseparable frequency characteristics includes the four-quadrant symmetry filters. The desired filter with half plan symmetry is obtained by shifting a low pass characteristic in the frequency domain, and by combining these shifted characteristics. Also the paper develops the technique for designing recursive and nonrecursive two dimensional digital filters by the application of a complex transformation to one dimensional low pass filter.

Measurement of Highly Aspherical Surface using Computer Generated Holograms

  • Interferometric metrology with a null CGH(computer-generated hologram) is presented for measuring highly aspheric surfaces used in a large screen projection television system with high accuracy. The cubic spline surface model which works in a single-pass configuration with a refractive index of object space 0 is used for designing a null CGH. A hybrid null corrector with plano-concave lens in front of a CGH is presented to make the CGH easier to fabricate. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed technique.

  • The purpose of this study are to show a new possibility of identity design to be used as tools of users identity expression, designing digital contents by studying on the methods to express users identities successfully in the digital contents design, and to present the possibility to expand the area of identity design. Digital contents are a communication media in it self, but this study tried to consider the digital contents as a tool of users communication or expression. The identity expression, which are not only makes communications efficient but also lets products and companies acknowledged by users, is one of the most indispensable factors in products competitive power in both the present and the future. However, no define methods of identity expression are settled as well as recognized by users properly and accurately yet, so that this study focuses on that point. Therefore, This study is advanced in the direction of establishing the concept of digital identity for an expansion of the media toward the identity expression in design as well as making researchers in successful identity expression ways by means of actual design, more than a graphic image making that simply decorates a digital contents. The point of this study is to show a new concept of identity design that expresses users identities so as to suggest another possibility of identity design.

  • We are now in the era of digital convergence with CE products and PC at the center, but product diversification occurs in the same breath. Each device may perform its own functions itself independently, but proportion of the inter-device usage is increasing gradually by concept of a home network and ubiquitous widely prevailed. The consumer's need of inter-device connection will take the dominative position of the market. Therefore, we can easily forecast that diversification of the products may inevitably lead connectivity patterns complicated considering recent market situation and trends. In this paper, we propose the methodology for designing inter-device connectivity which covers issues such like segmenting numerous number of connectivity pattern, and establishing their structure of control. Our methodology also supports the inter-device connection with extensive latitudes and a multi-device simultaneous control. In order to present inter-device connectivity guideline, we define four stages of a user experience - Connection, Configuration, Use, Disconnection. Based on the 4 user experience stages, we suggest a specific connectivity designing guideline for each step.

  • The increasing interest in digital leisure with virtual reality has led to the emergence of digital based urban theme park. Since there were some game type based digital theme parks, which ended up failed in Korea, we analyzed game and space factors for game based digital theme park by drawing upon Maslow's need theory and the hero's journey by Joseph Campbell. We anticipate our research for analysis of game based theme park provides important groundwork on designing various digital urban theme park.

Designing and Evaluating Digital Video Storyboard Surrogates (디지털 영상 초록의 설계와 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the design and utilization of video storyboard surrogates in the digital video libraries. To do this, first we constructed the arrangement model of key-frames for storyboard based on the FRBR model, image communication and PRECIS Indexing theories and evaluated the model using 6 sample videos and 26 participants. The study results show that the video storyboard surrogates based on the arrangement model has a higher accuracy value in terms of summary extraction than that of the sequential video storyboard. Moreover, watching both types of video storyboard one after another, especially browsing the sequential video storyboard first and then the arrangement model-based one, produces a remarkable increase in accuracy value of summary extraction. The study proposes two methods of utilizing the video storyboard surrogates in the digital video libraries: Designing a video browsing interface where users can use the sequential storyboard as a default and then the arrangement model-based one for re-watching; and utilizing the arrangement model-based storyboard as structured match sources of image-based queries.

A study on User Experience for Home Appliances Experience Service Design (가전제품 체험 서비스 디자인을 위한 사용자 경험 연구)

  • This is a user experience study of factors that should be considered in designing home appliances experience service. Untact services are emerging, but the development of home appliances sector is in early stage. Based on the six factors of Stephen P. Anderson's Creating Pleasurable Interface Model, this study conducted surveys, 1:1 in-depth interviews, and participation observations to measure and analyze user experience. In this study, I compared 4060s and 2030s's user experience in that the untact services raise the digital alienation among middle-senior-aged. As a result, there were significant differences between the two, including the opposite satisfaction in terms of reliable, usable and pleasurable factors. I hope that this study will be of strategic help in designing future home appliance experience services.

Digital Control of UPS Inverter with Time Response Specifications

  • This paper presents two approaches for designing a digital controller of UPS inverter with time response requirements and a fixed sampling time, which are inward and outward approaches based on a double loop feedback structure. In both approaches, the emulation method. is occupied. Thus we first design continuous-time controllers and then obtain digital controllers by using discretization. We apply the characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) in order to achieve the time response specifications. Also, the internal model control has been used for compensating phase delay in outward approach. The performances of the proposed controller are evaluated through several simulations carried out with Simpower system toolbox 3.0 of $Simulink^{(R)}$.
