Developement of a 3 channel digital CVSD bit-rate converter using a general purpose DSP (범용 DSP를 이용한 3 채널 디지탈 CVSD 전송율 변환기 개발)

  • This ppaer presents a bit-rate conversion system for efficient communications between 3 channel CVSD systems with different bit-rates. The proposed conversion system is implemented in the digital domain and specially, the conversion problem between 32 Kbps and 16 Kbps CVSD systems is studied. The conventional conversion system implemented in the analog domain allows signals to be easily degraded by external noises. To overcome this problem, a digital CVSD bit-rate conversion system robust to external noises is developed. the new systemdecodes CVSD bit sequences and converts sampling rates of decoded signals, then encodes signals at target bit-rates. Since linear phase property does not matter in this application, instead of FIR filters a IIR filter is employed to reduce the system complexity. Therefore, a 3 channel digital CVSD bit-rate conversion system was successfully real-time implemented using a general purpose DSP. In addition, conversion problems with unkown time constants were experimented and good experimental results were obtained.

  • Due to the advance of technology, the technology of various media is rapidly converged into digital technology. However, the conversion into digital radio is not achieved in korea yet. This paper is to suggest the best method of digital conversion of radio in korea by examining some conversion examples in foreign countries. In addition, the survey results on radio audience attitude is analysed by 2,000 audience samples in Korea based on the literature analysis. Radio is the unique media which have the strengths such as mobility, individuality, presence, broad coverage and instant. Most of all, radio cannot help keeping continuously the public broadcasting service in the future. So, the conversion into digital radio is crucial to sustain the competitiveness in digital media environment. This paper suggested that the digital conversion of radio broadcasting needs DRM transmission and should pursuit the policy which is distinguished between a AM and a standard FM, and between domestic broadcast and an international broadcast. Additionally, this paper proposed that we need to develop the multiple device for receiving of signal and the setting of standard technology.

  • A new concept in resolver-to-digital conversion is described, which is based on the digital phase locked loop(DPLL). This converter receives phase modulation and converts it into digital form using time ratio techniques. In this paper, the theories on DPLL and resolver and the design of the converter are covered.

  • Digital radiographic systems allow the implementation of a fully digital picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and provide the greater dynamic range of digital detectors with possible reduction of X-ray exposure to the patient. This article reviewed the basic physical principles of digital radiographic imaging system in dental clinics generally. Digital radiography can be divided into computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR). CR systems acquire digital images using phosphor storage plates (PSP) with a separate image readout process. On the other hand, DR systems convert X-rays into electrical charges by means of a direct readout process. DR systems can be further divided into direct and indirect conversion systems depending on the type of X-ray conversion. While a direct conversion requires a photoconductor that converts X-ray photons into electrical charges directly, in an indirect conversion, lightsensitive sensors such as CCD or a flat-panel detector convert visible light, proportional to the incident X-ray energy by a scintillator, into electrical charges. Indirect conversion sensors using CCD or CMOS without lens-coupling are used in intraoral radiography. CR system using PSP is mainly used in extraoral radiographic system and a linear array CCD or CR sensors, in panoramic system. Currently, the digital radiographic system is an important subject in the dental field. Most studies reported that no significant difference in diagnostic performance was found between the digital and conventional systems. To accept advances in technology and utilize benefits provided by the systems, the continuous feedback between doctors and manufacturers is essential.

The Study on the Influence of Cloud Service Acceptance Intention (클라우드 서비스의 수용의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Digital services improve existing ways of purchasing contracts. In this study, we empirically analyzed the effects of individual technology readiness (optimism, innovation, inconvenience, anxiety) on the acceptance intention of cloud computing technology for users with relatively high understanding of cloud service. Also, the effect of technology readiness on acceptance intention was verified by the mediating effect of digital conversion. As a result, optimism and innovation had a positive effect on digital conversion, and discomfort and anxiety had a negative effect on digital conversion. And although the partial mediating effect of digital conversion was verified in the relationship between optimism, anxiety and acceptance intention, it was verified that there was no mediating effect of digital conversion in the relationship between innovation, discomfort and acceptance intention. Through these results, the practical implications and future research directions of cloud services were presented to companies.

  • This paper describes a CMOS digital-to-analog converter to apply a newly-developed digital-to-analog conversion algorithm. The CMOS digital-to-analog converter has been designed by using 1.2$\mu\textrm{m}$ MOSIS SCMOS parameter and simulated for the performance. The simulated results have shown that the digital-to-analog converter has 200MHz of the maximum conversion rate, 7.41mW of the DC power consumption, and ${\pm}$0.08LSB of INL and ${\pm}$0.098LSB of DNL in 8-b.

  • In this paper, as a compatible software radio transmission system, Digital-Radio conversion system which can directly change the digital signal generated by the logic circuit into radio signal is proposed. By the vector synthesis method, the digital signals can change directly into radio signal. If such a circuit is realized, RF circuit and an antenna can be composed by the simple one device, and the radio is directly controlled and performed by the software processing which is the essence of software radio. This Digital-Radio conversion system of this paper give many number of communication channels being offered by PN code and offer a hardware design flexibility by digitization, therefore it decrease the percentage ratio of hardware of system and give a more flexible function of software basis. In this paper, this proposed Digital-Radio conversion system is called D/R converter, and the principle of this D/R converter, radio signal generation algorithm is explained and the performance characteristics of proposed algorithm is shown in time base by the computer simulation method.

A/D Conversion Module for Dynamic Range Expansion of Wideband Digital Receiver (광대역 디지털 수신기 동적 범위 확장을 위한 A/D 변환모듈 연구)

  • In this paper, an A/D conversion module was designed and fabricated to improve the dynamic range of wideband digital receivers. The A/D conversion module for expanding the dynamic range converts signals into a digital signal by branching the input signal into the normal path and the amplification path according to the input signal level. Test results of the fabricated module show that the normal path of the A/D conversion module converts an input level of -57 dBm to -12 dBm into a digital signal, and the amplification path converts an input level of -30 dBm to +12 dBm into a digital signal without distortion. This translates to an input dynamic range characteristic of 69 dB. Moreover, it is confirmed that the constant output characteristic is exhibited at an instantaneous bandwidth of 100 MHz.

  • Local cable channels has been contributing to settlement of grass root democracy and local business facilitation in decentralization era compared to other broadcasting media, and duly performs its role as local-tied media and produces local closeness type programs. But this is the time of need for change of perception by the producers, business entrepreneurs and relevant organizations on various production environment following process of conversion to digital cable TV. For successful settlement of local digital cable channels, this study has forecasted change on broadcasting production and organization following conversion of digital cable TV through the in-depth interview with people who produce and organize actual programs, and factors that interfere with digital cable TV conversion. Furthermore, the study learned plans to establish role and function of local cable channel as new close media to realize local value.

Design of Multi-carrier Digital Transmitter Using a Direct Conversion Scheme (직접변환방식을 이용한 멀티캐리어 디지털 송신기 설계)

  • In this paper, we designed a multi-carrier digital transmitter for CDMA base-station using a direct conversion scheme and verified the performance through circuit simulations. We examined a new technology required to design a multi-carrier transmitter, then designed and simulated a multi-carrier digital transmitter. ADS (Advanced Design System), RF simulation S/W of Agilent Technologies, was used for designing and simulating the multi-carrier digital transmitter. First, we simulated a digital block and an analog block separately, then performed a co-simulation for entire system. From the results, the final analog outputs of the designed multi-carrier digital transmitter met the spectrum mask characteristics of IS-97 & 3G TS 25.104 standard requirements. It means that proposed scheme could be applied to implement a multi-carrier digital transmitter for CDMA base-station. Therefore, proposed multi-carrier digital transmitter using a direct conversion scheme can accomplish cost-reduction and improvements of technology in the next CDMA base-station.
