Obiectives : The purpose of this study was to develop PBL packages geared toward improving the problem-solving abilities, self-directed learning capabilities and communicative competency of dental hygienists, which were all required for dental hygienists to have in the dental field. Methods : After three PBL packages for a semester of oral health education were developed, the PBL packages were evaluated by an expert to determine what improvements should be made. Results : The findings of the study were as follows. The three PBL packages were based on real clinical situations and designed to have a different degree of difficulty and provide problems in the form of scenario for learners to solve in a self-directed manner. When the packages were assessed by an expert, the packages were expected to make a contribution to the improvement of the three different abilities on which this study focused, and the packages were found to be appropriate in general in terms of learning content and field applicability, though they needed some modifications. Thus, this study attempted to develop PBL packages and let an expert assess the packages in order to give some suggestions about the development of PBL packages. The packages developed in this study are expected to help boost the problem-solving abilities, self-directed learning capabilities and communicative competency of dental hygienists, which should all be possessed by dental hygienists in the dental field. Moreover, the packages were found to be conducive to the introduction of PBL in the field of dental hygiene. Conclusions : To ensure the successful application of the packages, dental hygiene students should be provided with the packages in situations similar to real clinical situations, and they should have an opportunity to practice dental hygiene duties.
This study investigates the use of different speech act of apology strategies between male and female EFL college students by comparing the components of intensity, stylistic competence, and semantic formulas. The data was collected from 37 participants who were studying freshmen English reading course at the Department of English Education of C University in Seoul. Most students were English majors taking pre-teacher course of teaching English for secondary school students. The participants were divided into two gender groups of male and female. The discourse completion test (DCT) which was revised from the speech act of apology by Olshtain and Cohen (1990) was provided with the participants after the researcher explained the speech act of apology in ten situations. The speech act of apology depends on situation variables: social solidarity, severity of offense, and social status. The results show that in the preference of intensity, male and female have almost the similar ratio in high (female: 24.7%, male 24%) and low intensity (female: 75.3%, male: 76%). In the use of stylistic competence, male group (21%) expresses more diversely formal features than female group (12%), while female (87%) use more informal features than male (66%). Most of participants show a limitation in the use of speaking four types of semantic formulas: expression of apology (APOL), acknowledgment of responsibility (RESP), offer of repair (REPR), and promise of forbearance (FORB). As nonnative speakers, the participants cannot conduct the semantic formula in some situations regardless of the tasks provided. The results suggest that English teachers should recognize pragmatic variations in which students feel difficulty in appropriate speaking strategies on apology. This study also contributes to teaching learners the strategies and speaking patterns in the course of various apology situations.
The purpose of this research is to evaluate teachers' perception of Korean's achievement standard-based testing system (ASTS) and its process of implementation, and to propose a method of evaluating students' academic aptitude based on university entrance examinations. The core of the 2015 Revised National Curriculum is asserted by changes in classroom instruction, specifically encouraging students' participation in class based on a new method to evaluate student achievement. A total of 124 teachers in charge of student career counseling in middle and high schools in the Jeonbuk province participated in the study. The schools implementing the new method of ASTS were using 61.6% for unit school cut-off point, as opposed to the existing fixed cut-off point of 38.4%. The teachers understanding of the achievement evaluation method was rated 3.54 on the 5-point Likert scale, implying that they had a relatively good understanding of the method. Some of the challenges associated with reflecting the scores from the new student ASTS include difficulty of comparing scores across schools; grade inflation; advantages and disadvantages associated with the type of high school; and the increased importance of university entrance examination. In the ASTS, the fairness during the evaluation of the high school grades and the consequently the reliability of the evaluation prove worrying. As an ultimate result, selecting students based on university admissions data became untrustworthy. There should be further discussions on how students' achievement obtained from the new ASTS should be applied during the university admission process and how students' academic aptitude can be assessed in order to set a direction for secondary school education.

In this study, convergence art education which Based on the overall understanding of color, which is a field of science, the lecture model was constructed in order to operate a fusion curriculum which can be practically expressed by applying it to the artistic field of floral design. The learner was satisfied with the composition of the two lectures (floral design, color) and the way of conducting theory and practice. In addition, they felt that was able to access various areas through one subject. This indicates that learners themselves perceive the purpose and necessity of this study. On the other hand, it is pointed out that the background knowledge level between the majors and the non - majors is different. therefore Continuous feedback and adjustment of the degree of difficulty of the training seems to be necessary to enhance the learner's understanding. In order to develop the floral design, the curriculum development and education model should be built through convergence of various sciences. It is expected that this study will be used as basic data for the development of the curriculum for the artistic design education.
Data science is a scientific discipline that defines problems while finding meaningful information from collected data to solve problems. Along with artificial intelligence technology, the field of data utilization is gradually expanding, and awareness of the importance of data science education is also increasing. Despite the rapid growth of the domestic data industry market, it has recently been predicted that the shortfall of data experts will reach 31.4% within the next 5 years according to an analysis of the current status of the data industry by the Korea Data Agency. In the field of elementary education, various studies have been conducted to introduce data science in order to improve students' computational thinking and creativity. This paper proposed the contents of data science lectures developed for the purpose of educating elementary school teachers, who are mostly non-majors in the computer field. The developed contents were applied to a group of elementary school teachers attending graduate school for artificial intelligence convergence education. Points for improvement were derived by identifying the contents that were difficult for learners to understand and analyzing the causes of difficulty.
In this paper we analyze whether we can use the mobile phone having been highly distributed into young generation as a device for the u-learning in Korean public education. For this purpose we deal with the technical maturity in three axes. Firstly, we examine the authoring nature of mobile internet-based contents such as both text and motion picture for the contents developers in the public education. As a research result the authoring of text has almost no difficulty, but that of the motion picture shows some problems. Secondly, we deal with whether u-learners can easily get and use u-contents on both mobile phone and PC respectively. After analysing this factor, we found that the downloading of motion picture contents into mobile phone is very limited. Therfore we talk about the usability and problem of various PC Sync tools and propose their standardization. Finally, the needs of the introduction of the ubiquitous SCORM which could enable to reuse u-contents among different Korean telco’s mobile phones are discussed. Here we describe some functionality of both ubiquitous SCORM and u-LMS. Our study looks like almost the first work examining the technological maturity for the introduction of u-learning with mobile phone in Korean public education and it could be used as a reference for the study of any other wireless telecommunication-based u-learning other than mobile telecommunication.
The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a step-by-step upcycling fashion education program that can be utilized within the local community. This program aims to provide basic data by analyzing the current state of community-based upcycling projects and upcycling center programs. To achieve this, the study first examined the meaning and value of upcycling in fashion through literature research and explored upcycling projects and programs in connection with local communities. Subsequently, an upcycling fashion education program platform was developed and applied using the design thinking process. The program involved students from nine high schools in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Depending on the school's circumstances, the time and difficulty level of the upcycling education program were adjusted accordingly. A unique eco-bag making kit, using jeans developed in this study, was employed. Following the completion of the program, a satisfaction survey was conducted among 167 participating students from the high school community class. The findings indicated that the majority of students experienced an increased appreciation, attraction, and interest in upcycling products. They also demonstrated an understanding of the environmental impact of upcycling products and the distinction between upcycling and recycling. It is believed that the educational program developed in this study can promote ethical fashion and foster a sense of value-based consumption. This program can be customized and flexibly adapted to different educational levels and institutional characteristics, making it accessible to a wide range of learners.

The purpose of this study is to design and implement an instructional model for flipped learning of programming class. Because a programming process requires a high level of abstract thinking with a good understanding of a programming language, many students have difficulty in programming. For this characteristic of programming, it is not easy to effectively achieve learning goals of programming lesson by lecturing grammatical elements of a programming language and the following examples in a limited class time. In order to overcome these problems and to make effective programming lessons, we designed an instructional model based on flipped learning. Especially, in this study, we analyzed learners' difficulties in programming learning and errors that occurred in actual programming process for designing the instructional model. As a result of applying this model to the class, it was found that the students were generally satisfied with the lesson by having positive communication with other students in the classroom and actively participating in the learning.
Computers have been increasingly recognized as tools for teaming, in addition to supporting industrial works. Such advantages e-Learning have as teaming at any time and place, distribution and management of standardized contents, mentoring with learners, immediate feed-backs, and dynamic learning have been applied in a variety of divisions. Despite of the researches and interests, the study on the different views between teachers who design and operate e-learning and students who receive lessons hasn't been enough. So it studied the recognition of middle school teachers and students on the e-Learning. <중략>The research result showed that there were similarity in the views between teachers and students on the concept of e-Learning. Many teachers and students have experienced the e-Learning directly or indirectly. Teachers and students showed similar opinions on the beforehand education and preferred subjects of the e-Learning. But the students required fast and immediate feedback of the teachers. Teachers and students showed similar opinions on the utilization of multimedia components to achieve the goal of education. But teachers thought that immediate feedback was important. The students thought it important to control the degree of difficulty. It suggests a way to activate the e-Learning of middle school efficiently with the research result.
This study has developed an interactive WBI to enhance learning effects on 'the Moon motion' for middle-school students. The quality of this examined by applying it to 20 science teachers and 49 middle school students 49. As a result, over 85% of the test subjects gave an affirmative response in the interest induction, the curiosity solving, and the degree of learning participation category, the degree of difficulty item. Response of the students with negative perception on science have changed positively(p<.05) after this WBI learning. In addition, we compared the learners' of knowledge prior and subsequent to 'the Moon motion'. As a result, it was found that the case of 'no concept' was enhanced more than the case having 'partly or ambiguously concept' for 'the Moon motion'.
