  • The aim of this paper is to propose a cubic convergent regula falsi iterative method for solving the nonlinear equation f(x) = 0, where f : [a,b] $\subset$ R $\rightarrow$ R is a continuously differentiable. In [3,6] a quadratically convergent regula falsi iterative methods for solving this nonlinear equations is proposed. It is shown there that both the sequences of diameters and iterative points sequence converge to zero simultaneously. So The aim of this paper is to accelerate further the convergence of these methods from quadratic to cubic. This is done by replacing the parameter p in the iteration of [3,5,6] by a function p(x) defined suitably. The convergence analysis is carried out for the method. The method is tested on number of numerical examples and results obtained shows that our methods are better and more effective and comparable to well-known methods.

  • This paper presents a method for identifying various systems based on input-output data and a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA). The advantages of this technique are, first, it is not dependent on the deterministic or stochastic nature of the systems and, second, the globally optimized models for the original systems can be identified without the need of a differentiable measure function of linearly separable parameters. Under suitable hypotheses, the estimation error is shown to converge in probability to zero. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through several simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose the HMM with the MIN module. Because initial and re-estimated variance vectors are important elements for performance in HMM recognition systems, we propose a method which compensates for the mismatched statistical feature of training and test data. The MIN module function is a differentiable function similar to the sigmoid function. Unlike a continuous density function, it does not include variance vectors of the data set. The proposed hybrid HMM/MIN module is a unified network in which the observation probability in the HMM is replaced by the MIN module neural network. The parameters in the unified network are re-estimated by the gradient descent method for the Maximum Likelihood (ML) criterion. In estimating parameters, the variance vector is not estimated because there is no variance element in the MIN module function. The experiment was performed to compare the performance of the proposed HMM and the conventional HMM. The experiment measured an isolated number for speaker independent recognition.

  • In this paper we characterize the quasiaffine transforms of quasisubscalar operators. Let H and K be separable, complex Hilbert spaces and L(H,K) denote the space of all linear, bounded operators from H to K. If H = K, we write L(H) in place of L(H,K). A linear bounded operators S on H is called scalar of order m if there is a continuous unital morphism of topological algebras $$ \Phi : C^m_0(C) \to L(H) $$ such that $\Phi(z) = S$, where as usual z stands for identity function on C, and $C^m_0(C)$ stands for the space of compactly supproted functions on C, continuously differentiable of order m, $0 \leq m \leq \infty$.

  • The semi-convexity for planar shapes has been recently introduced in [2]. As a generalization of the convextiy, semi-convexity is closed under the Minkowski sum. But the definition of semi-convexity requires that the shape boundary should satifisfy a differentiability condition $C^{1:1}$, which means that it should be possible to take the normal vector field along the domain's extended boundary. In view of the fact that the semi-convextiy is a most natural generalization of the convexity in many respects, this is a severe restriction for the semi-convexity, since the convexity requires no such a priori differentiability condition. In this paper, we generalize the semi-convexity to the closure of the class of semi-convex $\mathcal{M}$-domains for any Minkowski class $\mathcal{M}$, and show that this generalized semi-convexity is also closed under Minkowski sum.

  • In 1980 and 1983, it was proved that P $D^{2}$-groups are surface groups ([2], [3]). Since then, topologists have been positively studying about P $D^{n}$ -groups (or $D^{n}$ -groups). For example, let a topological space X have a right .pi.-action, where .pi. is a multiplicative group. If each x.memX has an open neighborhood U such that for each u.mem..pi., u.neq.1, U.cap. $U_{u}$ =.phi., this right .pi.-action is said to be proper. In this case, if X/.pi. is compact then (1) .pi.$_{1}$(X/.pi).iden..pi.(X:connected, .pi.$_{1}$: fundamental group) ([4]), (2) if X is a differentiable orientable manifold with demension n and .rho.X (the boundary of X)=.phi. then $H^{k}$ (X;Z).iden. $H_{n-k}$(X;Z), ([6]), where Z is the set of all integers.s.

  • In this paper, some new classes of the higher order strongly exponentially preinvex functions are introduced. New relationships among various concepts of higher order strongly exponentially preinvex functions are established. It is shown that the optimality conditions of differentiable higher order strongly exponentially preinvex functions can be characterized by exponentially variational-like inequalities. Parallelogram laws for Banach spaces are obtained as an application. As special cases, one can obtain various new and known results from our results. Results obtained in this paper can be viewed as refinement and improvement of previously known results.

  • We introduce a new type of fractional derivative, which we call as the right local general truncated M-fractional derivative for α-differentiable functions that generalizes the fractional derivative type introduced by Anastassiou. This newly defined operator generalizes the standard properties and results of the integer order calculus viz. the Rolle's theorem, the mean value theorem and its extension, inverse property, the fundamental theorem of calculus and the theorem of integration by parts. Then we represent a relation of the newly defined fractional derivative with known fractional derivative and in context with this derivative a physical problem, Kirchoff's voltage law, is generalized. Also, the importance of this newly defined operator with respect to the flexibility in the parametric values is described via the comparison of the solutions in the graphs using MATLAB software.

  • Over the past five years, the number of patients treated for diabetes has increased by 27.7% to 3.22 million, and since blood sugar is still checked through finger blood collection, continuous blood glucose measurement and blood sugar peak confirmation are difficult and painful. To solve this problem, based on blood sugar data measured for 14 days, three months of blood sugar prediction data are provided to diabetics using artificial intelligence technology.
