  • Desktop PC CPUs have been significantly required to be the necessity of thermal management while they have satisfied the extensive data and graphic processing requirements. So the cooling systems assembled with heat pipes embedded in a metal cooling plate, and fins are widely used in the desktop PC markets. Due to a number of demands such as the confined space of desktop PCs, higher heat density of CPUs, and acoustic noise, however, there is the main drive to improve continuously cooling systems. This paper presents the flow and thermal behavior of the cooling system by using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) code.

  • The popularization of IEEE1394(firewire) configuration in Desktop PC have done much to popularize Non-Linear video editing. DVD has been taking the lead in an age as the movie storage medium which represents a recent decade the place because of decreasing in cost of DVD-RW. But, it is the actual condition which has been had any research data about the process which produces the high quality movie of DVD to most ordinary people. Taking into account to capture the image with Avid Xpress DV and Adobe Premiere Pro which are representative video editing softwares in Desktop PC in general, we would like to close by proposing that DVD Authoring Process is available to keep high quality image in Desktop PC by the using of comparison and analysis of the image quality and export data which are able to be happened to the procedure of digitalization of video Authoring using of Adobe Encore.

  • Desktop is offered to each individual in Educational environments of school or academy, as the users are increasing, the more Desktop is required for each person. Huge Desktop accession resulted in many problems including difficulty of management, Software and Hardware cost rising, cramped places, power consumption increasing and etc. To solve those problems, we focus into uprising technology solution, such as Multi Computer, Desktop Virtualization, and DaaS(Desktop as a Service). In this paper, existing problems that can dramatically improve the private cloud computing for desktop virtualization with the requirements of the system were analyzed.

  • 통신 기술의 발달로 인해 유선 인터넷뿐만 아니라 무선 인터넷이 급속히 보급되고 있다 또한 desktop PC뿐만 아니라 개인 정보 단말기 (이하 PDA)와 휴대폰과 같은 여러 종류의 단말기를 이용한 인터넷 사용이 증가하고 있다. 본 논문은 이미 desktop PC에서 일반화된 인스턴트 메신저를 여러 가지 단말기에 적용하여 통합 운영하는 기술에 대하여 논한다. 개발된 인스턴트 메신저는Windows CE 3.0을 05로 사용하는 PDA 및 Handhold PC와 일반 desktop PC에서 운용된다. 본 인스턴트 메신저는 실시간으로 사용자의 상태를 상대방에게 알려줄 수 있으며, 메시지 전송이나, 다자간 대화, 메일 송수신 기능, 파일 송수신과 같은 기능을 통합적으로 수행할 수 있다. 본 인스턴트 메신저는 desktop PC와 PDA간에 통신을 가능하게 함으로서 활용 가치가 크다고 할 수 있다.

  • Stick-PC is small and portable, So it can be used like a desktop if you connect it to a display device such as a monitor or TV anytime and anywhere. Accordingly, Stick-PC can related to various crimes, and various evidence may remain. Stick-PC uses the same Windows version of the operating system as the regular Desktop, the artifacts to be analyzed are the same. However, unlike the Desktop, it can be used as a meaningful information for forensic investigation if it is possible to identify the actual user and trace the usage by finding the traces of peripheral devices before analyzing the system due to the mobility. In this paper, We presents a method of collecting images using Bootable OS, which is one of the image collection methods of Stick-PC. In addition, we show how to analyze the trace of peripheral connection and network connection trace such as Display, Bluetooth through the registry and event log, and suggest the application method from the forensic point of view through experimental scenario.

  • The increasing demands for the recently released CPU which has had higher heat density, the confined space of desktop PCs, and so on are the main drive for continuously improving PC cooling systems. In order to meet number of demands, this paper describes the flow and thermal behavior of the heat sink combined with heat pipes, and a fan through the numerical analysis by using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) code and discusses how to extend the cooling capability.

Service Delivery Time Improvement using HDFS in Desktop Virtualization (데스크탑 가상화에서 HDFS를 이용한 서비스 제공시간 개선 연구)

  • The current PC-based desktop environment is being converted into server-based virtual desktop environment due to security, mobility, and low upgrade cost. In this paper, a desktop virtualization system is implemented using an open source-based cloud computing platform and hypervisor. The implemented system is applied to the virtualziation of computer in university. In order to reduce the image transfer time, we propose a solution using HDFS. In addition, an image management structure needed for desktop virtualization is designed and implemented, and applied to a real computer lab which accommodates 30 PCs. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated in various aspects including implementation cost, power saving rate, reduction rate of license cost, and management cost. The experimental results showed that the proposed system considerably reduced the image transfer time for desktop service.

  • With the gradual advancement of IT, passive work processes are automated and the overall quality of life has greatly improved. This is made possible by the formation of an organic topology between a wide variety of real-life smart devices. To serve these diverse smart devices, businesses or users are using the cloud. The services in the cloud are divided into Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). SaaS runs on PaaS, and PaaS runs on IaaS. Since IaaS is the basis of all services, an algorithm is required to operate virtualization resources efficiently. Among them, desktop resource virtualization is used for resource high availability of unused state time of existing desktop PC. Clustering of hierarchical structures is important for high availability of these resources. In addition, it is very important to select a suitable algorithm because many clustering algorithms are mainly used depending on the distribution ratio and environment of the desktop PC. If various attempts are made to find an algorithm suitable for desktop resource virtualization in an operating environment, a great deal of power, time, and manpower will be incurred. Therefore, this paper proposes a resource clustering simulator for cluster selection of desktop virtualization. This provides a clustering simulation to properly select clustering algorithms and apply elements in different environments of desktop PCs.

OpenGL ES 2.0 Emulation on Desktop PCs (데스크탑 상에서의 OpenGL ES 2.0 에뮬레이션)

  • OpenGL ES(OpenGL for Embedded System) 2.0 is one of the most widely used 3D graphics API(application progrma interface) standard for smart phones and tablet PCs at this time. During programming with this API, they prefer desktop environment rather than the target mobile environment, which has relatively low computing power. Thus, we need to emulate the OpenGL ES 2.0 API on the desktop PCs, where only OpenGL API libraries are available. In this paper, we present technical difficulties and their solutions to emulate OpenGL ES 2.0 on desktop PCs. Our final implementation of OpenGL ES 2.0 emulation library works on desktop PCs and passed over more than 96% of the official CTS(conformance test suites) to prove the correctness of our implementation. Additionally, for the commercially available benchmark programs, our implementation shows equivalent execution speeds to the previous commercial OpenGL ES 2.0 implementations.

Multiplatform Game Development using Wire and Wireless Communication (멀티플랫폼 유무선 연동게임 개발)

  • To get a better profit, standalone mobile game market shifts network-based mobile game. Currently, most of the game platform are separated into mobile to mobile, desktop to desktop, and console to console. Multi platform network game has a diverse problems including consistency control, object management technique, and bandwidth inconsistency. n this paper, we will introduce a multi-platform arcade game "Push-Push", which is played on desktop to mobile environment. The game guarantees realtime play between heterogeneous machine users and game item sharing between two platforms. e will focus n the issues of the 3rd generation multi platform games and propose some techniques or solving these problems. Our server database is implemented on MS SQL database, also the desktop programming tool is Visual Basic, and WIPI(Wireless Internet Platform or Interoperability) as a mobile platform.
