The paper aims at presenting a systematic approach process and a method of requirement validation and system verification. Validation is applied during concept development to ensure conceptual validity, requirements validity, and design validity. Verification work is applied subsequent to the design work on test articles and early production items to produce evidence that the design solutions do, in fact, satisfy th requirements. In this paper, we present a requirements validation model and a system verification model. This models are applied to the development of TTX(Tilting Train Express)system with systems engineering tool, CORE.
Purpose: This study carried out the Quality by Design (QbD)6σ process to verify the effectiveness and equivalence of the finished D-antigen quantitative test method, and compared the OFAT-based method validation and test result acceptance criteria with the Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD)-based method validation and test method. This is a study on how to reduce the risk of delay in permit change by increasing the reliability of permit data in the existing method by statistically analyzing the results. Methods: With the QbD6σ process, the effectiveness and equivalence of the D-antigen quantitative test method were verified with the data of the existing test method and the new test method. Results: Method validation tests are performed based on AQbD. Critical Method Parameters are identified through risk assessment, and single/combined actions are verified by designing and performing tests for Critical Method Parameters (analysis of variance, full factorial design method). Method validation can be effectively accomplished with the QbD6σ process. Conclusion: The use of QbD6σ can be used to achieve satisfactory results for both pharmaceutical companies and regulators by using appropriate statistical analytical methods for method validation as required by regulatory agencies.
The purpose of this study is to develop the model of course evaluation design for CEA(Course-Embedded Assessment), which is focused on course level for assessment reliability. This study was conducted by the process of model development and validation according to Richey & Klein(2007)'s model development methodology. The model of this study was comprised with the three steps of learning objectives based on course outcome, assessment design and goal achievement analysis of course, which were explained by specific design principles. Also, this model was validated by two steps, which one was on the inner validation and the other was the outer validation(Richey & Klein, 2007). Considerations for designing the model of course evaluation have been suggested and a few implications were discussed.

Metamodels have been developed with a variety of design optimization techniques in the field of structural engineering over the last decade because they are efficient, show excellent prediction performance, and provide easy interconnections into design frameworks. To construct a metamodel, a sequential procedure involving steps such as the design of experiments, metamodeling techniques, and validation techniques is performed. Because validation techniques can measure the accuracy of the metamodel, the number of presampled points for an accurate kriging metamodel is decided by the validation technique in the sequential kriging metamodel. Because the interpolation model such as the kriging metamodel based on computer experiments passes through responses at presampled points, additional analyses or reconstructions of the metamodels are required to measure the accuracy of the metamodel if existing validation techniques are applied. In this study, we suggest a sensitivity validation that does not require additional analyses or reconstructions of the metamodels. Fourteen two-dimensional mathematical problems and an engineering problem are illustrated to show the feasibility of the suggested method.

Design for automatic coupler system of Korean Tilting Train eXpress is described. In order to carry out validation & verification activities for system design, test condition is taken into account at collision speed of 10km/h, which is required in Safety Notice for rolling stock vehicle. The study aims at safety validation between a coupler and car body including design verification for a coupler through the identifying of system design and the evaluating of test results.
Herein a review is made on the validation problem of numerical codes applied to floating offshore structures. Since the dynamic behaviour of offshore floating structures in water waves is in general complex and nonlinear, a numerical approach seems to be promising. However, numerical codes are likely involved with uncertainties and they at the present status show apparent scatterness in typical bechmark tests, particularly in second-order wave forces. Convergence test is the minimum requirement for the validation of numerical codes. Some other practical check points are introduced to clarify the potential error sources. It is concluded that a standard procedure for validation must be urgently established sothat numerical methods can safely be used as a rational design tool.

This work conducts a validation study for the XH-59A helicopter using a rigid coaxial rotor system in order to establish the techniques of the conceptual design and performance analysis for the lift-offset compound rotorcraft. As a tool for conceptual design and performance analysis, NDARC (NASA Design and Analysis of Rotorcraft) is used for the present study. An assumed mission profile is considered for the conceptual design of the XH-59A. As a validation result of the design, the dimensions and weight of the XH-59A are appropriately designed when compared to the target values since the relative error is less than 0.5%. Then, performance analyses are conducted for the designed XH-59A model with and without auxiliary propulsion in hover and forward flight conditions. The present analyses show good validity since the prediction results compare well with both the flight test and previous analyses. Therefore, the techniques for the conceptual design and performance analysis of the lift-offset compound helicopter are overall considered to be appropriately established. In addition, this study investigates the influence of the lift-offset on the rotor effective lift-to-drag ratio of the XH-59A helicopter with auxiliary propulsion. As a result, the improvement of the rotor effective lift-to-drag ratio can be obtained by appropriately increasing the lift-offset in high-speed flight.
This paper presents a workflow validation method for data-intensive graphical workflow models using real-time workflow tracing mode on data-intensive workflow designer. In order to model and validate workflows, we try to divide as modes have editable mode and tracing mode on data-intensive workflow designer. We could design data-intensive workflow using drag and drop in editable-mode, otherwise we could not design but view and trace workflow model in tracing mode. We would like to focus on tracing-mode for workflow validation, and describe how to use workflow tracing on data-intensive workflow model designer. Especially, it is support data centered operation about control logics and exchange variables on workflow runtime for workflow tracing.

Recently simulation model becomes an essential tool for analysis and design of a system but it is often expensive and time consuming as it becomes complicate to achieve reliable results. Therefore, high-fidelity simulation model needs to be replaced by an approximate model, the so-called metamodel. Metamodeling techniques include 3 components of sampling, metamodel and validation. Cross-validation approach has been proposed to provide sequnatially new sample point based on cross-validation error but it is very expensive because cross-validation must be evaluated at each stage. To enhance the cross-validation of metamodel, sequential sampling method using candidate points and representative cross-validation is proposed in this paper. The candidate and representative cross-validation approach of sequential sampling is illustrated for two-dimensional domain. To verify the performance of the suggested sampling technique, we compare the accuracy of the metamodels for various mathematical functions with that obtained by conventional sequential sampling strategies such as maximum distance, mean squared error, and maximum entropy sequential samplings. Through this research we team that the proposed approach is computationally inexpensive and provides good prediction performance.

Machine Learning(ML) splits data into 3 parts, which are usually 60% for training, 20% for validation, and 20% for testing. It just splits quantitatively instead of selecting each set of data by a criterion, which is very important concept for the adequacy of test data. ML measures a model's accuracy by applying a set of validation data, and revises the model until the validation accuracy reaches on a certain level. After the validation process, the complete model is tested with the set of test data, which are not seen by the model yet. If the set of test data covers the model's attributes well, the test accuracy will be close to the validation accuracy of the model. To make sure that ML's set of test data works adequately, we design an experiment and see if the test accuracy of model is always close to its validation adequacy as expected. The experiment builds 100 different SVM models for each of six data sets published in UCI ML repository. From the test accuracy and its validation accuracy of 600 cases, we find some unexpected cases, where the test accuracy is very different from its validation accuracy. Consequently, it is not always true that ML's set of test data is adequate to assure a model's quality.
