A Study on the Conceptual Design of Smart App Authoring Tool

  • IT environment gets more complicated in terms of open platform, network standards, device design and hardware, etc. Smart network and application are in the fields of corporate as well as national competition for future fusion technology. In development environment focused on computers, the ideas of authoring tool have been presented in terms of improved software productivity. In smart environment where subdividing works are consecutively done, current authoring tool should be effectively updated for effective development of programs and easier access to business works. The basic concept of a new conceptual App development tool, Smart App Authoring Tool, which has been designed in this study and enables to apply on-site requirements to smart phones, is to develop Apps on the level using easy-to-learn Word or Excel in a computer. Therefore, this study is intended to design a conceptual Smart App Authoring Tool to optimize the cost and time for developing and maintaining new application services under various smart phone platform environments. Based on the performance of smart app authoring tool herein, every people can develop a smart app program at moderate level. So this paper have designed a conceptual smart app authoring tool. This study presented educational efficiency of the authoring tool by developing business Apps under various business environments and applying them under university and high school environments.

  • There is little study related to the 3D convergence contents authoring tool for teacher. In this study, we purposed the design of the interactive 3D convergence contents authoring tool for a teacher. To draw the design, firstly, we investigated the authoring environment of teachers and interviewed teachers. Based on this investigations, we proposed the functional requirement and UI/UX(User Interface/User Experience) design of it. And we investigated the level of focusing group satisfication with the UI/UX design. Based on these results, we will implement the authoring tool.

  • In recent years, graphics authoring tools have evolved into a variety of formats in line with the rapidly changing digital design field. However, in the field of interface design, screen shape and size depending on the user's environment, it needs more flexible and scalable authoring tools. Along with the emergence of variety of new tools, work processes are also changing. This study investigates what kinds of graphic authoring tools are currently used by designers and compared the result to the case of overseas and examined the difference in the environment of graphic authoring tool. This study looked at criteria and satisfaction of designers choosing authoring tools and how the choice depends on the type of company we are working in and the type of project we are involved in. Research shows that the choice of authoring tools depends on the type and efficiency of the project. Based on this, a reference is provided to establish the standard and working environment for designers and companies to select graphic authoring tools and propose the future direction of graphic authoring tool environments.

  • Providing appropriate and cooperative work among learners is an essential factor of a successful educational authoring system. Although from the viewpoint of beginning authors, many authoring functions are employed in existing authoring tool, there has been little research to solve authoring difficulties by companion's assist and to keep pace with learning. Therefore, in this paper, we designed and developed a educational authoring tool using mathematical language and cooperative work among learners, verified the validity. The authoring tool proposed has key features to hide authoring handicaps and keep pace with learning and cooperate with each other by using networked and language-based authoring tool.

  • The desire of achieving abundant and various information in Web-sites through portable devices is increased as the mobile communication technology is matured. WML(Wireless Markup Language) is the fundamental language to fill up the those desires. The number of commercial WML sites which can be accessed by PCS(Personal Communication System) over the Internet are growing rapidly worldwide. In this paper, a WML authoring tool which can author easily the homepage suitable for PCS is designed and implemented. The usability of the proposed WML authoring tool was confirmed by using UP.SDK simulator over the Internet.

  • In this paper, a sensory effect authoring tool is introduced to effectively generate sensory effect metadata for sensible media. Sensible media manifests sensory effects in the media to real world by stimulating sensory organs of human. It is emerging as a new media to enhance the user's immersion towards media. For the successful deployment of the sensible media industry, an effective authoring tool is required to provide easy authoring of sensory effect metadata. The result of the authoring tool design and development based on MPEG-V(ISO/IEC 23005-3) International Standard is presented in this paper.

  • We are suggesting an authoring tool can be used for prototyping in the augmented reality based product design environment. This tool is for authors without an engineering background to use. Our authoring tool can adjust the properties of visual, sound, and haptic feedback at the same time for more practical prototyping. Also the proposed modulated architecture can be applied flexibly to changes of platforms or hardware. Also user interfaces can be dynamically updated by changing just description files. finally, the suggested authoring methods exploit the advantages of both graphical and tangible user interfaces. Authors can intuitively make adjustments to many parameters using the TUI, and then they can do the same thing precisely using the GVI. The proposed authoring methods can be used for exhibition and entertainment contents using multi-sensory feedback in AR environment. As a future work, qualitative and quantitative usability test will be conducted.

  • Recently both the importance and the interests of field-experience learning have kept increasing since the Education of Ministry encourages students to take a field-experience learning with the self-driven and creative education as the main issue in the 7th revised education curriculum in 2009. As the importance of field-experience learning goes up continuously, not only the release of its related mobile applications is increasing, but also a variety of researches for supporting the field-experience learning are ongoing. In this research we perform two things. First, we define the basic concept of authoring tool for which support the field-experience learning based on its characteristics and user requirements analysis. We confirmed that the authoring tool for the field-experience learning has to 1) support all activities that happen in pre-field, field-experience and post-field phases, 2) be possible to write the location-based field work, 3) have the authoring function which reflects the characteristics of curriculum such as history, science and geography, etc. that the field learning can be realized, 4) be designed as the structure that the results of inquiring activity after the field experience activity can be reused. Second, we create a conceptual design after confirming the authoring tool.

  • A smart phone has an error if we design games on it because smart phone should be able to have input and output simultaneously through the screen. Using the existing layout of the game as a base for research, the layout was divided to four categories that are information area, informational appearance area, operation area and inutility area. Given the research results, we developed an authoring tool to design games for smart phones. Moreover, we applied the authoring tool to develop games and effectively reduce the developing time.
