The fabrication of vanadium oxide films directly on Si(100) substrates by plasma atomic layer deposition(ALD) with vanadium oxytriisopropoxide(VOIP) and oxygen as the reactants have been performed at temperature ranging from 250 to $450^{\circ}C$. Growth rate of vanadium oxide was $2.8{\AA}$/cycle at $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ defined as ALD acceptable temperature window, Vanadium oxide has been shown the different phases at $250^{\circ}C$ and more than $300^{\circ}C$. It has been confirmed that the phase of the films deposited at $250^{\circ}C\;was\;V_2O_5$ type and that of the films above $300^{\circ}C\;was\;VO_2(T)$ type measured at room temperature, respectively. A large change in resistance and small temperature hysteresis corresponding to a temperature has been observed in the vanadium oxide film deposited at temperature $350^{\circ}C$.

This paper investigated structural and electrical properties of $Y_2$$O_3$ as a buffer layer of single transistor FRAM (ferroelectric RAM). $Y_2$$O_3$ buffer layers were deposited at a low substrate temperature below 40$0^{\circ}C$ and then RTA (rapid thermal anneal) treated. Investigated parameters are substrate temperature, $O_2$ partial pressure, post-annealing temperature, and suppression of interfacial $SiO_2$ layer generation. For a well-fabricated sample, we achieved that leakage current density ( $J_{leak}$) in the order of 10$^{-7}$ A/$\textrm{cm}^2$, breakdown electric field ( $E_{br}$ ) about 2 MV/cm for $Y_2$$O_3$ film. Capacitance versus voltage analysis illustrated dielectric constants of 7.47. We successfully achieved an interface state density of $Y_2$$O_3$/Si as low as 8.72x1010 c $m^{-2}$ e $V^{-1}$ . The low interface states were obtained from very low lattice mismatch less than 1.75%.

The stability and efficiency of organic light emitting devices are the most critical problems to be solved. The devices based on tris-8-(hydroxyquinoline) aluminum ($Alq_3$) and N,N-diphenyl-N,N-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1, 1-biphenyl-4,4-diamine (TPD) were used to study the effects of buffer layers on their characteristics. We have investigated the characteristic effects of CuPc (copper phthalocyanine) and pentacene buffer layers on the device characteristics, the (5${\sim}$20 nm thick) CuPc layers and the (10${\sim}$20 nm thick) pentacene layers were deposited. Efficiency was slightly improved and the turn-on voltages of the devices with the buffer layers were observed to have lower values than those of the devices without the buffer layers. It is believed that this result is attributed to the improvement of hole injection capability through the buffer layers into hole transport layer (HTL). We have also studied the atomic force microscopic images of the TPD layers deposited on the buffer layer and the bare ITO.
Silicon dioxide (SiO$_2$) layers were fabricated on Si$_3$N$_4$/SiO$_2$/Si layer structures by low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD). Potassium and aluminum were then coimplanted by implanting potassium ions with the energy of 100 [keY] and dose of 5x10$^{16}$ [cm ̄$^2$] and 1x10$^{17}$ [cm ̄$^2$] into an aluminum buffer layer on the SiO$_2$Si$_3$N4/SiO$_2$/Si structure. The pH, pNa, and pK ion sensitivities of the resulting layers were investigated and compared to those of as-deposited silicon dioxide layer. The pK-sensitivity of the silicon dioxide was enhanced by the K and Al coimplantation. On the contrary, the pH and pNa-sensitivities of the coimplanted silicon dioxides were quite lower than that of the as-deposited silicon dioxide.
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grown with a microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) method, which has been regarded as one of the most promising candidates for the synthesis of CNTs due to the vertical alignment, the low temperature and the large area growth. MPECVD used methane ($CH_4$) and hydrogen ($H_2$) gas for the growth of CNTs. 10 nm thick Ni catalytic layer were deposited on the Ti coated Si substrate by RF magnetron sputtering method. In this work, the pretreatment was that the Ni catalytic layer in different microwave power (600, 700, and 800 W). After that, CNTs deposited on different pressures (8, 12, 16, and 24 Torr) and grown same microwave power (800 W). SEM (Scanning electron microscopy) images showed Ni catalytic layer diameter and density variations were dependent with their pretreatment conditions. Raman spectroscopy of CNTs shows that $I_D/I_G$ ratios and G-peak positions vary with pretreatment conditions.
As a rule, high temperature superconducting coated conductors have multi-layered buffers consisting of seed, diffusion barrier and cap layers. Multi-buffer layer deposition requires longer fabrication time. This is one of main reasons which increases fabrication cost. Thus, single buffer layer deposition seems to be important for practical coated conductor process. In this study, a single layered buffer deposition of $CeO_2$ for low cost coated conductors has been tried using thermal evaporation technique. 100 nm-thick $CeO_2$ layers deposited by thermal evaporation were found to act as a diffusion layer. $1\;{\mu}m-thick$ SmBCO superconducting layers were deposited by thermal co-evaporation on the $CeO_2$ buffered Ni-5%W substrate. Critical current of 90 A/cm was obtained for the SmBCO coated conductors.
Indium-zinc-oxide (IZO) films were deposited at room temperature via RF sputtering with varying the flow rate of additive nitrogen gas ($N_2$). Thin film transistors (TFTs) with an inverted staggered configuration were fabricated by employing the various IZO films, such as $N_2$-added and pure (i.e., w/o $N_2$-added), as active channel layers. For all the deposited IZO films, effects of additive $N_2$ gas on their deposition rates, electrical resistivities, optical transmittances and bandgaps, and chemical structures were extensively investigated. Transfer characteristics of the IZO-based TFTs were measured and characterized in terms of the flow rate of additive $N_2$ gas. The experimental results indicated that the transistor action occurred when the $N_2$-added (with $N_2$ flow rate of 0.4-1.0 sccm) IZO films were used as the active layer, in contrast to the case of using the pure IZO film.
The heteroepitaxial growth of InP and GaInAs on GaAs substrates has been studied by using a new combination of source materials: ethyldimethylindium (EDMIn) and trimethylgallium (TMGa) as group III sources, and tertiarybutylarsine (TBAs) and tertiarybutylphosphine (TBP) as group V sources. Device quality InP heteroepitaxial layers were obtained by using a two-step growth process under atmospheric pressure, involving a growth of an initial nucleation layer at low temperature followed by high temperature annealing and the deposition of epitaxial layer at a growth temperature. The continuity and thickness of nucleation layer were important parameters. The InP layers deposited at 500$^{\circ}$- 55$0^{\circ}C$ are all n-type, and the electron concentration decreases with decreasing TBP/EDMIn molar ratio. The excellent optical quality was revealed by the 4.4 K photoluminescence (PL) measurement with the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 4.94 meV. Epitaxial Ga\ulcorner\ulcorner\ulcornerIn\ulcorner\ulcorner\ulcornerAs layers have been deposited on GaAs substrates at 500$^{\circ}$ - 55$0^{\circ}C$ by using InP buffer layers. The composition of GaInAs was determined by optical absorption measurements.
In this paper, we investigated the effect of the passivation stack with Al2O3, hydrogenated silicon nitride (SiNx:H) stack and Al2O3, silicon oxynitride (SiONx) stack in the n type bifacial solar cell on monocrystalline silicon. SiNx:H and SiONx films were deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition on the Al2O3 thin film deposited by thermal atomic layer deposition. We focus on passivation properties of the two stack structure after laser ablation process in order to improve bifaciality of the cell. Our results showed SiNx:H with Al2O3 stack is 10 mV higher in implied open circuit voltage and 60 ㎲ higher in minority carrier lifetime than SiONx with Al2O3 stack at Ni silicide formation temperature for 1.8% open area ratio. This can be explained by hydrogen passivation at the Al2O3/Si interface and Al2O3 layer of laser damaged area during annealing.
The optimum thickness of Pd-Ni plated layers used as an electrical contact film was investigated by evaluating mechanical, thermal and environmental characteristics. The variations of morphologies and chemical compositions were studied by using SEM, EDS and ESCA. As a result of wear test, the wear resistance behavior of the gold plated layers was not changed with the sliding velocity changes. The palladium-nickel plated layer showed better wear resistance than the gold plated layer at low sliding velocity, but it showed poor wear resistance at high sliding velocity. Under the thermal condition of $400^{\circ}C$ in air, the gold thickness of $2\mu\textrm{m}$ without underplate on phosphorous bronze formed copper oxide on the surface layer by rapid diffusion of copper whereas the gold thickness of $0.8\mu\textrm{m}$ deposited on nickel and palladium-nickel underplate was stable at $400^{\circ}C$. Under the sulfur dioxide environments, the gold thickness of $0.3\mu\textrm{m}$ deposited on the nickel thickness of$ 3\mu\textrm{m}$ and the palladium-nickel thickness of $2\mu\textrm{m}$ underplate was more corrosion-resistant than the gold thickness of $2\mu\textrm{m}$ without underplate on phosphorous bronze. Under the nitric acid vapor environment, corrosion resistance of the gold film was superior to an equivalent thickness of the palladium-nickel film.
