The structure represents symmetrical metal electrode (gate 1) - front $SiO_2$ layer - n-Si nanowire FET - buried $SiO_2$ layer - metal electrode (gate 2). At the symmetrical gate voltages high conductive regions near the gate 1 - front $SiO_2$ and gate 2 - buried $SiO_2$ interfaces correspondingly, and low conductive region in the central region of the NW are formed. Possibilities of applications of nanosize FETs at the deep inversion and depletion as a distributed capacitance are demonstrated. Capacity density is an order to ${\sim}{\mu}F/cm^2$. The charge density, it distribution and capacity value in the nanowire can be controlled by a small changes in the gate voltages. at the non-symmetrical gate voltages high conductive regions will move to corresponding interfaces and low conductive region will modulate non-symmetrically. In this case source-drain current of the FET will redistributed and change current way. This gives opportunity to investigate surface and bulk transport processes in the nanosize inversion channel.
The HVAC takes the most important role in the Electric Multiple Unit for maintaining the healthy and comfortable indoor environment, however we also should consider the outdoor environment in terms of "environment's friendly" because the refrigerant used for the HVAC system is strongly related with the issues of "the Protection of environment" such as "the Global Warming" and "The Ozone layer Depletion". Therefore we survey (1)the potentially harmful impact on human health and the environment through modification of the ozone layer and the Green house effect, and (2)the international and the domestic environment's policies and (3)the potential alternative refrigerants usable for the EMU HVAC in terms of "the environment friendly properties", "the performance" and (4) "the applicabilities of the refrigerant for the EMU HVAC".

The electrical effects of dry-etch on n-type GaN by an inductively coupled $Cl_2/CH_4/H_2/Ar$ plasma were investigated as a function of ion energy, by means of ohmic and Schottky metallization method. The specific contact resistivity(${\rho}_c$) of ohmic contact was decreased, while the leakage current in Schottky diode was increased with increasing ion energy due to the preferential sputtering of nitrogen. At a higher rf power, an additional effect of damage was found on the etched sample, which was sensitive to the dopant concentration in terms of the ${\rho}_c$ of ohmic contact. This was attributed to the effects such as the formation of deep acceptor as well as the electron-enriched surface layer within the depletion layer. Furthermore, thermal annealing process enhanced the ohmic and Schottky property of heavily damaged surface.
The microstructural changes of Fe-20Mn-12Cr-1Cu alloy have been studied during high temperature gas nitriding (HTGN) at the range of $1000^{\circ}C{\sim}1150^{\circ}C$ in an atmosphere of nitrogen gas. The mixed microstructure of austenite and ${\varepsilon}$-martensite of as-received alloy was changed to austenite single phase after HTGN treatment at the nitrogen-permeated surface layer, however the interior region that was not affected nitrogen permeation remained the structure of austenite and ${\varepsilon}$-martensite. With raising the HTGN treatment temperature, the concentration and permeation depth of nitrogen, which is known as the austenite stabilizing element, were increased. Accordingly, the depth of austenite single phase region was increased. The outmost surface of HTGN treated alloy at $1000^{\circ}C$ appeared Cr nitride. And this was in good agreement with the thermodynamically calculated phase diagram. The grain growth was delayed after HTGN treatment temperature ranges of $1000^{\circ}C{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ due to the grain boundary precipitates. For the HTGN treatment temperature of $1150^{\circ}C$, the fine grain region was shown at the near surface due to the grain boundary precipitates, however, owing to the depletion of grain boundary precipitates, coarse grain was appeared at the depth far from the surface. This depletion may come from the strong affinity between nitrogen and substitutional element of Al and Ti leading the diffusion of these elements from interior to surface. Because of the nitrogen dissolution at the nitrogen-permeated surface layer by HTGN treatment, the surface hardness was increased above 150 Hv compared to the interior region that was consisted with the mixed microstructure of austenite and ${\varepsilon}$-martensite.

A study has been carried out to evaluate the interaction behavior between a lanthanide element and clad material in order to analyze the effect of the lanthanide element on the fuel cladding chemical interaction (FCCI). A diffusion couple test between Misch metal (70Ce-30La) and ferritic-martensitic steel (Gr.92) was performed at $660^{\circ}C$, followed by a microstructural analysis of the coupled sample. The results showed that Ce in the Misch metal, rather than La, reacted with the ferritic-martensitic steel (FMS) to form an interaction layer that penetrated the clad thickness. Fe diffused outside the clad interface to form an $Fe_2Ce$ compound, leaving a depletion of Fe caused by excess diffusion as well as by the formation of Cr-rich precipitation inside the interaction layer. The rate of growth followed the cubic rate law, which indicated that Fe depletion was caused by the diffusion of Fe and that the associated Cr-rich phase formation controlled the whole diffusion process.

Environmental problems like global warming have now become important issues that should be considered in all industries, including construction. In South Korea, many studies have been conducted to achieve the government's goals of reduction in environmental impacts. However, the research on buildings has only focused on CO2 emission as a research target despite the fact that other environmental impacts resulting from ozone depletion and acidification should also be considered, in addition to global warming. In this regard, this study attempted to propose assessment criteria and methods to evaluate the environmental performance of the structures from various aspects. The environmental impact category can be divided into global impacts, regional impacts, and local impacts. First, global impacts include global warming, ozone layer depletion, and abiotic resource depletion, while regional impacts include acidification, eutrophication, and photochemical oxidation. In addition, noise and vibration occurring in the building construction phase are defined as local impacts. The evaluation methods on the eight environmental impacts will be proposed after analyzing existing studies, and the methods representing each environmental load as monetary value will be presented. The methods presented in this study will present benefits that can be obtained through green buildings with a clear quantitative assessment on structures. Ultimately, it is expected that if the effects of green buildings are clearly presented through the findings of this study, the greening of structures will be actively expanded.

We have extracted the material parameters such as absorption coefficients of GaN, $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}N$, and Schottky contact metal Ni of Schottky Diode UV-A and B detectors using a transfer matrix method (TMM). The ratios of the absorbed light to the total incident amount at the depletion regions of GaN and $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}N$ have been calculated in order to obtain the spectral responsivity. Absorption coefficients of the materials have been obtained by fitting the simulated data with measured data. The depletion layer thickness has been obtanied by capacitance-voltage measurement. The results pave the way for the optimum design of UV Schottky detectors. Since the absorption coefficient of the Ni electrode is very high, its thickness is a major factor that determines the responsivity. It is possible to attain improved UV detectors using thinnest possible Ni electrodes and wide depletion regions of GaN and $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}N$.

This paper proposes an efficient two-dimensional simulation model for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) based on the electrochemical effectiveness model. The effectiveness model is known to accurately predict the current generation performance of SOFC electrodes, by considering the complex reaction/transport processes that occur within thin active functional layers near the electrolyte. After validation tests, the two-dimensional simulation model was used to calculate the distribution of current density and oxygen concentration transverse to the flow channel in anode-supported SOFCs, with which the oxygen depletion characteristics were investigated in detail. In addition, simulations were also conducted to determine the minimum number of grids required in the transverse direction to efficiently obtain accurate results.

We propose a simple method to control the crystallization depth of amorphous silicon (a-Si) deposited by PECVD or LPCVD during the excimer laser annealing (ELA). Employing the new method, we have formed poly-Si/a-Si double film and fabricated a new poly-Si TFT with vertical a-Si offsets between the poly-Si channel and the source/drain of TFT without any additional photo-lithography process. The maximum leakage current of the new poly-Si TFT decreased about 80% due to the highly resistive vertical a-Si offsets which reduce the peak electric field in drain depletion region and suppress electron-hole pair generation. In ON state, current flows spreading down through broad a-Si cross-section in the vertical a-Si offsets and the current density in the drain depletion region where large electric field is applied is reduced. The stability of poly-Si TFT has been improved noticeably by suppressing trap state generation in drain region which is caused by high current density and large electric field. For example, ON current of the new TFT decreased only 7% at a stress condition where ON current of conventional TFT decreased 89%.
The first stage blade of a gas turbine was operated under a severe environment which included both $1300^{\circ}C$ hot gas and thermal stress. To obtain high efficiency, a thermal barrier coating (TBC) and an internal cooling system were used to increase the firing temperature. The TBC consists of multi-layer coatings of a ceramic outer layer (top coating) and a metallic inner layer (bond coat) between the ceramic and the substrate. The top and bond coating layer respectively act as a thermal barrier against hot gas and a buffer against the thermal stress caused by the difference in the thermal expansion coefficient between the ceramic and the substrate. Particularly, the bondcoating layer improves the resistance against oxidation and corrosion. An inter-diffusion layer is generated between the bond coat and the substrate due to the exposure at a high temperature and the diffusion phenomenon. A thickness measurement result showed that the bond coat of the suction side was thicker than that of the pressure side. The thickest inter-diffusion zone was noted at SS1 (Suction Side point 1). A chemical composition analysis of the bond coat showed aluminum depletion around the inter-diffusion layer. In this study, we evaluated the properties of the bond coat and the degradation of the coating layer used on a $1300^{\circ}C$-class gas turbine blade. Moreover, the operation temperature of the blade was estimated using the Arrhenius equation and this was compared with the result of a thermal analysis.
