Plugging effect of open-ended pipe piles is known to have a close relationship with the ratio of an embedment depth to a pile diameter, i.e., the relative embedment ratio. To evaluate this relationship in the concrete, load tests are performed on the open and the close ended model piles varying the relative embedment ratio as well as the relative density of the model test ground. Cross-shaped hollow plates are attached at the open pile ends to reduce the effective pile diameters, on which load tests are also performed. As a result, it is confirmed that higher plugging effect may be obtained in the denser ground at lower relative embedment. However, 100% plugging effect can be obtained at the relative embedment ratio of 25 or bigger regardless of the density of the ground. Increment of the plugging effect by introducing the cross-shaped attachment can hardly be achieved.

Hafnium oxynitride films have been deposited onto a silicon substrate by means of radio frequency (RF) reactive sputtering using a hafnium dioxide $(HfO_2)$ target with a variety of nitrogen! argon $(N_2/Ar)$ gas flow ratios. Auger electron spectroscopy (AES)results confirm that $N_2$ was successfully incorporated into the HfON films. An increase in the $N_2/Ar$ gas flow ratio resulted in metal oxynitride formation. The films prepared with a $N_2/Ar$ flow ratio of 20/20 sccm show (222), (530), and (611) directions of $HfO_2N_2$, and the (-111), (311) directions of $HfO_2$. From X-ray reflectometry measurements, it can be concluded that with $N_2$ incorporated into the HfON films, the film density increases. The density increases from 9.8 to $10.1g/cm^3$. XRR also reveals that the surface roughness is related to the $N_2/Ar$ flow ratio.
This study was conducted to know the influence of plant age and cultural conditions such as plant population density and light intensity under the shading on the leaf shape of panax ginseng. The result obtained were as follows; 1) Leaf length(L)/maximum width(W) was no difference with different age of over 3-over 3year old plant, but that of 1 or 2-yearold was smaller than those of over 3-year old. The values of L/W showed in the order of 2 or 4,3, 1 or 5 leaflet. 2) Ratios of leaflet area to leaf area were 32.0% in leaflet 3, from 209.% to 27.9% in leaflet 2 or 4, and from 6.5% to 7.1% in leaflet 1 or 5. 3) The coefficients of variability for L/W and ratio of leaflet area to leaf area of leaflet 3 were smallest among leaflets. 4) There were significant differences between largest and smallest leaflet 3, leaf areas and ratio of leaflet 3 area to leaf area in same plant. 5) LW and ratio of leaflet 3 area to leaf area were not affected by plant population density. 6) It showed a tendency that the L/W was increased with increasing the light transmittance rate (LTR). The ratio of leaflet 3 area to leaf area of ginseng grown under 20% LTR was not different comparing to that of plant grown under 5% LTR, but it was significantly increased in plant grown at 100% LTR.

Electron temperature and electron density were measured in a radio-frequency(rf) inductively coupled plasma using probe measurements. Measurements were made in an argon discharge for pressures from 10 to 100mTorr and input rf power from 100 to 800W. Spatial distribution Electron temperature and electron density were measured for discharge with same aspect ratio. Electron temperature and Electron density were found to depend on both pressure and power. Electron density was creased with increasing pressure, but peaked in a 70mTorr discharge. Radial distribution of the electron density was peaked in the plasma fringes. These results were compared to a simple model of inductively coupled plasmas.
The purpose of this paper was developing a development density control model for urban growth management, using system dynamics modeling. The density control model was developed to see how urban growth, transition, and decay occur depending on the interaction among population, houses, industry structure, land and urban infrastructure such as road, water supply, and sewage treatment facilities. Suggesting adequate level of development density control using the model was another purpose of this paper. The model was applied to An'yang city to estimate the maximum number of population, industry structures, houses, and cars that can be adequately sustained with the current An'yang city's infrastructur capacity. The computer simulation results shows that the city is overpopulated by some 90,000 people. To reduce the population to the adequate level that the current urban infrastructure can sustain, the current city regulation on floor area ratio are needed to be strengthened at least 20 to 35%.
This study identifies the complementarity or substitutability among apple production technology bundles. To identify the production technology bundle relationships, this paper focuses on the 8 most commonly used technology groups, including a high density plant, normal density plant, M9, M26, more than 70% adoption ratio of a medium-maturing variety, the adoption of a new variety, artificial pollination, and low-temperature storage. The results show that M9 has a complementary relationship with a high density plant, yet a substitute relationship with a normal density plant. Meanwhile, M26 has a complementary relationship with both a high and normal density plant. No substitute relationship is found between M9 and M26, yet a complementary relationship is identified between the adoption of artificial pollination and low-temperature storage and M9 or M26.
Regarding all particles at a fixed site as a cluster, the size of the largest cluster under the zero range invariant measures is well studied by Jeon et al.[5] for the case of density one. Here, the density of the finite zero-range process is given by the ratio between the number m of particles and the number n of sites. In this paper, we study the lower density case, i.e., the case m = o(n). Especially, when m ~ $n^{\beta}$,0 < ${\beta}$ < 1, we show that there is an interesting cutoff point around $\beta$ = 1/2.
Sr-ferrite having magnetoplumbite structure is similar to Ba-ferrite in magnetic characteristics, but better magnetic characteristics for using motor application. To improve remanence magnetic flux density(Br) and coercive force(iHc), it is necessary that sintered ferrites must have high density and grain size less than 1 $\mu$m. By varying n values in SrO.nFe2O3 basic composition, calcination temperature, and BaO addition, Sr-ferrite powder and sintered specimen was prepared. The n values, calcination temperature, and BaO addition affected secondary phase formation, particle size, and particle shape. BaO addition enhanced Fe2O3 secondary phase and hexagonal shape particle. Fe2O3 phase reduced sintered density which greatly decreased Br.

Computer-aided high frequency ultrasonic is applied to aluminum oxide(85w%, 94w%, 96w%, and 99w%) MOR(modulus of rupture) samples to evaluate mechanical properties such as density variation, pore content, elastic modulus, shear modulus, and poisson's ratio. Ultrasonic wave velocity and attenuation measurement techniques were used as an evaluator of such properties. Pulse-echo C-Scan images with different fate setting method using 50MHz center frequency 1 inch focal length transducer allows evaluation of density variation and pore content. Elastic modulus calculated with the relation of density and ultrasonic velocity. It shows good reliability as compared with resonance method. Sintered density variation of $0.025g/cm^{3}$, that is 0.6% of theoretical density in $Al_{2}O_{3}$ samples can be observed by ultrasonic velocity measurement. Attenuation measurement method qualitatively agree with 4-point fracture testing result concerning of porosity content.

Pulse modulation technique provide additional controling method for electron temperature and density in rf and microwave processing plasma. Transient characteristics of electron density and temperature have been measured in pulse modulated rf inductively coupled argon plasma using simple probe circuit. Electron temperature relaxation is clearly identified in the after glow stage. Controllability of average electron temperature and density depends on the modulation frequency and duty ratio. Numerical calculation of time-dependent electron density and temperature have been performed based on the global model. It has been shown that simple langmuir probe measurement method used for continuous plasma is also applicable to time-dependent measurement of pulse modulated plasma.
