  • The purpose of this study was to examine the demand for leisure facilities of apartment residents in Kimgae. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires designed for this study, and the sample consisted of 399 households. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and ANOVA analysis. Leisure facilities were divided into four specific types : sports facilities, hobby and cultured facilities, appreciation and exhibition facilities, and sociable facilities. It was found that the demands for four types of leisure facilities were high and the demands for park, swimming pool, culture center, library, cultural hall, and wamen’s hall were especially high. Family life cycle and housing size were important determinants of demands for leisure facilities.

  • Supply Chain (SC) can balance demands with supply activities as executing Supply Chain Planning (SCP). The fluctuated demands, however, will break the balance between demand and supply. It means that the present SCP is useless in responding the changed demands. Thus it is necessary for SCP to be updated with changed demands. We call this procedure as Supply Chain Replanning. However, the existing measures for SC can not deal with the balance between supply and demand so that they can not detect effectively the timing of replanning. For this reason, a new performance measure, Balancing Point, is developed using momentum, a concept of Physics. It can treat the balance between supply and demand. Also, a replanning method based on Balancing Point is proposed. The proposed method is more effective than the existing replanning method, periodic replanning method and net inventory method.

  • Seasonal water requirements by paddy rice is important to water budgeting for the water resources planning at a basin scale. This paper compares the water requirements resulting from different approaches for the Han River Basin. The demands from the drought years of 1967 and 1968 were found to be significantly less than the irrigation standards. This may result in significant underestimation of the basin-wide water demands. A conversion factor method is proposed to define seasonal irrigation demands. The factor is defined from the ratios of the standards for each growing stage to the drought year demands. The results were compared satisfactorily with those from the irrigation standards, and readily applicable to the water resources planning.

  • In this study we consider a CONWIP system studied in Park and Lee [1] in which the processing times at each station follow a Coxian distribution and the demands for the finished products arrive according to a compound Poisson process. The demands that are not satisfied Immediately are either backordered or lost according to the number of demands that exist at their arrival instants. For this system using the results in [1] we develop an approximation method to calculate order based performance measures such as the mean time of fulfilling a customer order and the mean number of customer orders. To test the accuracy of the approximation method, the results obtained from the approximation method are compared with those obtained by simulation. Comparisons with simulation have shown that the approximate method provides fairly good results.

  • This paper presents a method for the regional long-term load forecasting in metropolitan area considering econimic indicator with the assumption that energy demands propoprtionally increases under the economic indicators. For the accurate load forecasting, it is very important to scrutinize the correlation among the regional electric power demands, economic indicator and other characteristics because load forecasting results may vary depending on many different factors such as electric power demands, gross products, social trend and so on. Three steps for the regional long-term load forecasting are microscopically and macroscopically used for the regional long -term load forecasting in order to increase the accuracy and practicality of the results.

  • In energy-based design, the structures are generally transformed into equivalent SDOF systems to obtain the input and the dissipated energy. In this study the energy demands in multi-story structures were compared with that of equivalent single degree of freedom systems to validate the transformation method. Three-, eight-, and twenty-story steel moment-resisting frames and buckling restrained braced frames are compared with those of equivalent single degree of freedom systems. Sixty earthquake ground motions recorded in different soil conditions were used to compute the input and hysteretic energy demands in model structures. According to the analysis results, in 3 and 8-story structures the hysteretic energy demands computed in the equivalent SDOF structures are compatible with those computed in the original MDOF structures, while in the 20-story structures the transformed equivalent structures underestimated the hysteretic energy demands.

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between job demands/resources and safety participation, and the moderating effect of safety self-efficacy. Based on the responses from 247 employees, the results of multiple regression analysis appeared as follow; 1) job demands factors(role conflict, role ambiguity and role overload) effect negatively on safety participation. 2) job resources factors(autonomy and social support) effect positively on safety participation. 3) safety self-efficacy moderates positively 3 relationships-between role conflict and safety participation, between role ambiguity and safety participation, between social support and safety participation.

  • The purpose of this study is to investagte Teacher’s attitudes and demands on the contents for housing of Home Economics Texbook of Middle School. The data from 236 home economics teachers were randomly selected through a mailing survey in nation wide. The findings of this study are as follows: Teacher’s attitudes toward housing area implied some suggestions for the following curriculum. And these attitudes were similar among respondents. The level of demands for each content on housing was over 3.2 out of 5, which indicated generally high demands toward housing area. Safety issues was the most demanded content. followed by solving space problems. Those demanding related issues were similar among respondents.

  • In the current global business environment, it is very important how to allocate products from the producer to buyers (or distributors). Sometimes some buyers can order more than pertinent demand due to inappropriate forecasting customers' orders. This is the big obstacle to the efficient allocation of products. If the producer can become aware of buyers' pertinent demand, it is possible to realize the high-level order fulfillment through the effective allocation of products. In this study, a new allocation policy is proposed considering buyers' demands. The backpropagation algorithm, one of algorithms in neural network theory, is used to find pertinent demands from the distributors' orders. In the experiment, an allocation policy considering buyers' demands outperforms previous allocation policies.

  • System-level ductility is an essential parameter for seismic performance evaluation of multistory building structures. The ductility demands for single degree of freedom structures or individual structural members can be determined easily. However, there is no clearly established method to determine the ductility demands for structural systems. The system ductility demands are estimated in this study by the equivalent SDOF system methods and proposed method which used the representative responses obtained from the MDOF systems directly. And seismic performance of building structures is evaluated by the modified Capacity Spectrum Method using the representative responses, and the result was compared with those of the inelastic time history analysis.
