A non-toxic Post Boost Stage(PBS) with LOX/Ethanol engine was successfully demonstrated at the Tomioka Facility of IHI Aerospace. IHI Aerospace has researched and developed the nontoxic propulsion systems and the LOX/Ethanol is one of the most attractive non-toxic bipropellant candidates. ${\rho}ISP$ of LOX/Ethanol is higher than ${\rho}ISP$ of the other non-toxic bipropellants as LOX/HC or $LOX/LH_2$. The authors studied the combustion characteristics of LOX/Ethanol propellant with the engine designed for LOX/LNG propellant. Also the injector with a built-in igniter was designed and examined its feasibility, ignition and combustion characteristics. We have demonstrated Post Boost Stage with future LOX/Ethanol engines. This propulsion system is targeted for expandable vehicle upper stage to accelerate delta-V to reach the required orbit. PBS Demonstration Model is designed as a test stand to evaluate feed system for integrated propulsion system and also to demonstrate Integrated Vehicle Health Management(IVHM) technique using local valve control and also valve behavior-monitoring capability.
In marine clay deposits, naturally formed or artificially reclaimed, the evaluation and monitoring of the consolidation process has been a critical issue in civil engineering practices due to the time frame required for completing the consolidation process, which range from several days to several years. While complementing the conventional iconographic method suggested by Casagrande and recently developed in-situ techniques that measure the shear wave, this study suggests an alternative experimental procedure that can be used to evaluate the consolidation state of marine clay deposits using the shear wave velocity. A laboratory consolidation testing apparatus was implemented with bimorph-type piezoelectric bender elements to determine the effective stress-shear wave velocity (${\sigma}^{\prime}-V_s$) relationship with the marine clays of interest. The in-situ consolidation state was then evaluated by comparing the in-situ shear wave velocity data with the effective stress-shear wave velocity relationships obtained from laboratory experiments. The suggested methodology was applied and verified at three different sites in South Korea, i.e., a foreshore site in Incheon, a submarine deposit in Busan, and an estuary delta deposit in Busan. It is found that the shear wave-based experimental procedure presented in this paper can be effectively and reliably used to evaluate the consolidation state of marine clay deposits.
The high-resolution near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy can reveal the evidence of the accretion burst (e.g., the broadened absorption features produced by the Keplerian disk motion) although the moment of the outburst was not caught. The embedded protostar IRAS 16316-1540 observed with the Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph (IGRINS, $R={\Delta}{\lambda}/{\lambda}{\sim}45000$) shows the broad absorption features in atomic and CO transitions, as seen in FU Orionis objects (FUors), indicative of an outburst event. We examine whether the spectra of IRAS 16316-1540 arise from the rotating inner hot gaseous disk. Using the IGRINS spectral library, we show that the line profiles of IRAS 16316-1540 are more consistent with an M1.5 V template spectrum convolved with a disk rotation profile than the protostellar photosphere absorption features with a high stellar rotation velocity. We also note that the absorption features deviated from the expected line profile of the accretion disk model can be explained by a turbulence motion generated in the disk atmosphere. From previous observations that show the complex environment and the misaligned outflow axes in IRAS 16316-1540, we suggest that an impact of infalling clumpy envelope material against the disk induces the disk precession, causing the accretion burst from the inner disk to the protostar.

Sr0.92Y0.08Ti1-xVxO3-δ (SYTV) with perovskite structure was investigated as an alternative anode to utilize H2S containing fuels in solid oxide fuel cells. To improve the electrochemical performance of Sr0.92Y0.08TiO3-δ (SYT), vanadium(V) was substituted to titanium(Ti) at the B-site of the SYT perovskites. The SYTV synthesized by the Pechini method was chemically compatible with the YSZ electrolyte without additional by-products formation under the cell fabricating conditions. As increasing V substitution amounts, the oxygen vacancies increased, resulting to increasing ionic conductivity of the anode. The cell performance in pure H2 at 850 ℃ is 19.30 mW/cm2 and 34.87 mW/cm2 for a 1 mol.% and 7 mol.% of V substituted anodes, respectively. The cell performance using H2 fuel containing 1000 ppm of H2S at 850 ℃ was 23.37 mW/cm2 and 73.11 mW/cm2 for a 1 mol.% and 7 mol.% of V substituted anodes, respectively.
The Boguk cobalt mine is located within the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Sedimentary Basin. Major ore minerals including cobalt-bearing minerals (loellingite, cobaltite, and glaucodot) and Co-bearing arsenopyrite occur together with base-metal sulfides (pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, etc.) and minor amounts of oxides (magnetite and hematite) within fracture-filling $quartz{\pm}actinolite{\pm}carbonate$ veins. These veins are developed within an epicrustal micrographic granite stock which intrudes the Konchonri Formation (mainly of shale). Radiometric date of the granite (85.98 Ma) indicates a Late Cretaceous age for granite emplacement and associated cobalt mineralization. The vein mineralogy is relatively complex and changes with time: cobalt-bearing minerals with actinolite, carbonates, and quartz gangues (stages I and II) ${\rightarrow}$ base-metal sulfides, gold, and Fe oxides with quartz gangues (stage III) ${\rightarrow}$ barren carbonates (stages IV and V). The common occurrence of high-temperature minerals (cobalt-bearing minerals, molybdenite and actinolite) with low-temperature minerals (base-metal sulfides, gold and carbonates) in veins indicates a xenothermal condition of the hydrothermal mineralization. High enrichment of Co in the granite (avg. 50.90 ppm) indicates the magmatic hydrothermal derivation of cobalt from this cooling granite stock, whereas higher amounts of Cu and Zn in the Konchonri Formation shale suggest their derivations largely from shale. The decrease in temperature of hydrothermal fluids with a concomitant increase in fugacity of oxygen with time (for cobalt deposition in stages I and II, $T=560^{\circ}C-390^{\circ}C$ and log $fO_2=$ >-32.7 to -30.7 atm at $350^{\circ}C$; for base-metal sulfide deposition in stage III, $T=380^{\circ}-345^{\circ}C$ and log $fO_2={\geq}-30.7$ atm at $350^{\circ}C$) indicates a transition of the hydrothermal system from a magmatic-water domination toward a less-evolved meteoric-water domination. Sulfur isotope data of stage II sulfide minerals evidence that early, Co-bearing hydrothermal fluids derived originally from an igneous source with a ${\delta}^{34}S_{{\Sigma}S}$ value near 3 to 5‰. The remarkable increase in ${\delta}^{34}S_{H2S}$ values of hydrothermal fluids with time from cobalt deposition in stage II (3-5‰) to base-metal sulfide deposition in stage III (up to about 20‰) also indicates the change of the hydrothermal system toward the meteoric water domination, which resulted in the leaching-out and concentration of isotopically heavier sulfur (sedimentary sulfates), base metals (Cu, Zn, etc.) and gold from surrounding sedimentary rocks during the huge, meteoric water circulation. We suggest that without the formation of the later, meteoric water circulation extensively through surrounding sedimentary rocks the Boguk cobalt deposits would be simple veins only with actinolite + quartz + cobalt-bearing minerals. Furthermore, the formation of the meteoric water circulation after the culmination of a magmatic hydrothermal system resulted in the common occurrence of high-temperature minerals with later, lower-temperature minerals, resulting in a xenothermal feature of the mineralization.

Metasediment-hosted Pb-Zn mineralized zone has been found in Dyusembay of Kazakhstan. Its petrological properties, metal index, alteration index and redox-sensitivity are compared with those of SEDEX type deposit. Mineralization is developed along foliation of host rock (graphitic phyllite) and controlled by folds and faults; major ore minerals including pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, and galena are disseminated or interlayered with fine-grained quartz. The margin of the mineralized zone is metamorphosed accompanying sericite and chlorite. Hydrothermal brecciation and Pb-Zn mineralization formed in quartz-calcite stockworks are confirmed at the around of Maytyubin granitoid intrusions. The mineralization is classified into three types according to those of occurrence, paragenesis, chemical composition and isotopic characteristics. Type 1 whose fine-grained pyrite, pyrrhotite and sphalerite are formed in parallel yet discontinuous to well-developed foliations of the host rock; its geochemistry is similar to those of the earlier stage in SEDEX-type mineralization. In case of type 2, the ore minerals of which are concentrated being parallel to a foliation by regional metamorphism, and most of them associated with quartz and muscovite (${\pm}$ biotite) paragenetically. Type 3 is formed in the hydrothermal breccia zone whose ore minerals are controlled by foliation and breccia and developed in quartz ${\pm}$ calcite veins having a form such as stratification, stockwork or veinlets. Host rocks in the mineralized zone indicate homogeneous metamorphic grade and there is no specific alteration zonation. Also, all types (type 1, type 2, and type 3) represent similar REEs patterns, it can be interpreted that these are originated from a same source. Sulphides occurred in mineralized zone indicate a limited range of sulphur isotope values (type 2, ${\delta}^{34}S=-13.3{\sim}-11.7$‰; type 3, ${\delta}^{34}S=-13.9{\sim}-8.2$‰), and a result of geothermometry presents different temperature ranges: type 2($251{\pm}38^{\circ}C{\sim}277{\pm}40^{\circ}C$); type 3($360{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ to $537{\pm}29^{\circ}C$). It is estimated to be due to the effect of metamorphism and Maytyubin granitoid intrusions, respectively. In addition, ternary chart of thorium, scandium, and zircon for discrimination of tectonic setting and redox sensitivity using V/Mo values indicate that hydrothermal sediments put on reduction environment after precipitation, before being affected by metamorphism and intrusion activity. Geochemical data are plotted on a distal trend of SEDEX-type with discrimination plot using SEDEX index. As a result, petrological-geochemical properties demonstrate that Dyusembay Pb-Zn mineralized zone is comparable to distal-type of SEDEX deposit.
This study was designed to investigate direct effects of [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin, a $\delta$-opioid receptor agonist on the neuronal activity of medial vestibular nuclear (MVN) neurons by whole-cell configuration patch clamp experiments. The spike frequency of MVN neuron was increased to $9.50{\pm}0.55$ (P<0.05) and $10.56{\pm}0.66$ (P<0.05) by 5 and $10{\mu}M$ [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin from the control level of $8.05{\pm}0.55$ spikes/sec, respectively (n=18). The resting membrane potential of the neurons was increased to $-37.86{\pm}0.92$ and $-36.97{\pm}0.97$ (P<0.05) from $-38.74{\pm}1.13\;mV$ by 5 and $10{\mu}M$ [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin, respectively. The amplitude of afterhyperpolarization was decreased to $23.78{\pm}0.65$ and $21.67{\pm}0.89$ (P<0.05) from $23.73{\pm}0.53\;mV$ by 5 and $10{\mu}M$ [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin, respectively. The spike width was changed to $2.22{\pm}0.08$ and $2.24{\pm}0.07$ from $2.20{\pm}0.08\;mV$ by 5 and $10{\mu}M$ [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin, respectively. After pretreatment of naltrindole, a highly selective 8-opioid receptor antagonist, [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin did not change firing rate, resting membrane potential, afterhyperpolarization amplitude, and spike width of MVN neurons. The above experimental results suggest that [D-$Pen^2$, D-$Pen^5$]-enkephalin increases the neuronal activity of MVN neurons via inhibition of calcium-dependent potassium currents underlying the afterhyperpolarization.
This study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of strong acidic electrolyzed acid water (SAEW; Strong acidic electrolyzed water, pH 2.76, ORP 1,128 mV, HClO 105.0 ppm) and low alkaline electrolyzed water (LAEW; Low alkaline electrolyzed water, pH 8.56, ORP 660 mV, HClO 73.8 ppm) as storing liquid for peeled lotus root. During storage at $5^{\circ}C$, it was showed that SAEW and LAEW inhibit growth of microorganisms until at least 5 days of storage. Total phenolic contents, polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity, and color differences value $({\Delta}E)$ of peeled lotus roots stored in SAEW and LAEW were lower than that of one stored in TW (tap water). The hardness decrement of lotus roots stored in SAEW and LAEW were lower than that of lotus root stored in TW too. Contents of moisture crude protein crude fat, crude ash, crude fiber, and total sugars were gradually decreased during storage. Whereas vitamin C content of lotus root stored in 0.6% acetic acid was most rapidly decreased to 25% as compared with one of initial days of storage that of lotus roots stored in SAEW and LAEW was not decreased significantly as compared with one stored in TW. Sensory characteristic during storage was preferable on lotus root stored in SAEW to the other treatments.
Some vanadium(III) complexes have been prepared by the reaction of VCl3${\cdot}$3MeCN with ligands and characterized by elemental analysis, 1H-NMR, infrared and UV-Visible spectroscopy. 3,5-lutidine(lutd), 8-hydroxyquinoline(oxine), 1,2-phenylenediamine(phda), ethylenediamine(en), and sym-diphenylethylenediamine(dpen) were chosen as coordinating ligands. ${\nu}$(V-Cl) of lutidine complex occurs at 418 $cm^{-1}$ and the other complexes (oxine, phda, en, dpen) occur at 337∼347 $cm^{-1}$. The value of ${\nu}$(V-Cl) indicates that the former complex has trigonal bipyramid structure and the latter complexes have octahedral structure. The ${\nu}$(C${\equiv}$N) of acetonitrile in oxine and phda complexes are characteristically shifted to about 70 $cm^{-1}$ higher frequency compared with that of free ligand (2260 $cm^{-1}$). The ${\delta}$(C${\equiv}$N) is also shifted to about 60 $cm^{-1}$ higher frequency compared with that of free ligand (377 $cm^{-1}$). Finally each vanadium(III) complex showed the following formulation; [$VCl_3(lutd)_2$], [$VCl(oxine)_2$MeCN]$Cl_2$, [$VCl(phda)_2$MeCN]$Cl_2$, [$VCl_2(en)_2$]Cl, [$VCl_2(dpen)_2$]Cl.

In this paper, PBTI characteristics of NMOSFETs with La incorporated HfSiON and HfON are compared in detail. The charge trapping model shows that threshold voltage shift (${\Delta}V_{\mathrm{T}}$) of NMOSFETs with HfLaON is greater than that of HfLaSiON. PBTI lifetime of HfLaSiON is also greater than that of HfLaON by about 2~3 orders of magnitude. Therefore, high charge trapping rate of HfLaON can be explained by higher trap density than HfLaSiON. The different de-trapping behavior under recovery stress can be explained by the stable energy for U-trap model, which is related to trap energy level at zero electric field in high-k dielectric. The trap energy level of two devices at zero electric field, which is extracted using Frenkel-poole emission model, is 1,658 eV for HfLaSiON and 1,730 eV for HfLaON, respectively. Moreover, the optical phonon energy of HfLaON extracted from the thermally activated gate current is greater than that of HfLaSiON.
