  • This study aims to explore the differences between Korean and United States college students regarding their degree of religiosity, interest in, understanding and acceptance of evolution, and the effects of their interaction on these variables. A total of one thousand and fifteen Korean and US biology majors and non-majors college students participated in this study and a sub sample of 516 students were randomly selected for statistical tests. The results illustrated that Korean college students harbored significantly lower degrees of religiosity and interest in evolution but significantly higher degrees of knowledge and acceptance of evolution than US college students. The path analysis uncovered that the knowledge of and interest in evolution played a mediating role between religiosity and acceptance of evolution. Korean college students' interest in evolution was less correlated to other variables than US college students' interest. The acceptance of evolution was less predicted by knowledge of evolution in the Korean biology major sample than in the US biology major sample. The acceptance of evolution was predicted more by religiosity in the Korean non-major sample than in US non-major sample. This study suggests that future Korean science curriculum for evolution needs to enhance the degree of students' interest in evolution. In addition, future Korean science curriculum needs an instructional strategy in developing students' ability to make scientific decisions, such as the acceptance of evolution, without interference from their personal religious belief.

  • This study analyzes empirically the effect of the degree of interest in cultural marketing on corporate image and how the corporate images affect on consumers' clothes purchasing behavior through the case of a fashion brand, 'Uniqlo'. For this, Chi-square test and independent sample T-test were used for the verification of differences in frequency and average by general characteristics of respondents. To observe the effects between ration scales, it carried out a multiple regression analysis, and also, using AMOS16.0, it verified the suitability of the route model and estimated the coefficients for each route. From the result of analysis, it was found that degree of consumer's interest in cultural marketing affects on corporate images such as corporate confidence and marketing and the corporate image again is closely related to consumer's clothes purchasing behavior and satisfaction. In other words, the consumers who have greater interest in corporations using cultural marketing or who had participated in various cultural events are more likely to think that 'Uniqlo' is a reliable corporation who actively uses cultural factors in marketing. Likely, it was observed that the positive corporate image of 'Uniqlo' has a large influence on purchase of their products and also, it makes consumers feel as if they are participating in mecenat, thus increasing consumer's satisfaction after purchase. This study has a limitation in generalization of study result because it focused on a case of particular brand. However, it is still helpful for the empirical study for growth and reinvigoration of the market for cultural marketing, and through a case of leading corporation, it provides implications to the corporations who use or do not use cultural marketing.

  • This study examined the degree of appearance interest and clothing conformity, the impacts of appearance interest on clothing conformity, and the effects of appearance interest and demographic variables on clothing conformity. A questionnaire survey collected data from October $3^{rd}$ to $27^{th}$ 2011. A convenience sample was drawn from adults between the ages of 17 and 76 who lived in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions of South Korea. A total of 513 responses produced complete and usable questionnaires. Data were tested through factor analysis and regression analysis, using SPSS 20.0. The results of this study are as follows : First, three factors were extracted from clothing conformity (normative, informative, identifiable conformity). The appearance interest was relatively high and normative conformity was the highest level among three factors of clothing conformity. Second, appearance interest was significant predictors of clothing conformity. Third, demographic variables such as gender, marital status, age and education levels had significant effects on the relationship between appearance interest and clothing conformity.

In this study, the interest and the effect of the display are investigated through such factors of demographic variables as each individual's age, educational career, vocation, average family income a month, and marriage status. And the relationship is also examined between the person's interest paid on the display and the clothing attitude related variables of fashion follow tendency, individuality, and the way of practical economy. An additional examinations are performed in the first reactive factor to be considered at the time of the clothing purchase, and the interrelation between the discontent after purchase and the effect of display before purchase. The major findings of this research, thus, can be summarized as following: 1. Demographic variables of women reflect differences in their interests toward display and accordingly the variety of the display effect as well. Less interest and effect are caused by the effort of display for the women in their senior age. However, a group of the character women and young college women pay relatively more attention to the display and give more effect to the purchase. The examination shows alsp that the unmarried and better-off and better-educated are more sensitive to the effect of the display. 2. The higher is the individuality and the fashion follow tendency, the stronger revealed the interest in the display, while the economic women have less interest in it. 3. The first factor considered at the time of purchase is not absolutely affected significantly by the degree of the display effect in real purchasing act. 4. The discontent after purchase is not related with how much the degree of display effects in the act of real purchase.

  • As a 360-degree image carries information of all directions, it often has too much information. Moreover, in order to investigate a 360-degree image on a 2D display, a user has to either click and drag the image with a mouse, or project it to a 2D panorama image, which inevitably introduces severe distortions. In consequence, investigating a 360-degree image and finding an object of interest in such a 360-degree image could be a tedious task. To resolve this issue, this paper proposes a method to find a region of interest and produces a 2D naturally looking image from a given 360-degree image that best matches a description given by a user in a natural language sentence. Our method also considers photo composition so that the resulting image is aesthetically pleasing. Our method first converts a 360-degree image to a 2D cubemap. As objects in a 360-degree image may appear distorted or split into multiple pieces in a typical cubemap, leading to failure of detection of such objects, we introduce a modified cubemap. Then our method applies a Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) network based object detection method to find a region of interest with a given natural language sentence. Finally, our method produces an image that contains the detected region, and also has aesthetically pleasing composition.

  • The purpose of this study was to develope nutritional teaching materials and programs for childcare major students by determining interrelations between nutritional knowledge, dietary habits and dietary self-efficacy. Out of 400 questionnaires distributed to the students majoring in childcare in Daegu, 354 were analyzed by SPSS WIN 12.0 program. The results were summarized as follows. Childcare major students' distributions of nutritional knowledge, dietary habits and dietary self-efficacy were approximately all middle levels. Nutritional knowledge scores were influenced by age and self-assessment of health. Childcare major students' dietary habits were influenced by age, the degree of satisfaction of diet, and the degree of interest in diet. Dietary self-efficacy of childcare major students was influenced by gender, satisfaction of diet, whether or not they were on a diet, recognition of the need for nutritional knowledge, and the degree of interest in diet. Nutritional knowledge and dietary habits were positively correlated with dietary self-efficacy of childcare major students. In short, childcare major students with higher nutritional knowledge scores had higher dietary self-efficacy. Further, childcare major students who had a regular diet and balanced dietary habits had stronger dietary self-efficacy.

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate the level of transcultural self-efficacy (TSE) and related factors and educational needs for cultural competence in nursing (CCN) of Korean hospital nurses. Methods: A self-assessment instrument was used to measure TSE and educational needs for CCN. Questionnaires were completed by 285 nurses working in four Korean hospitals. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. Results: Mean TSE score for all items was 4.54 and score for mean CCN educational needs, 5.77. Nurses with master's degrees or higher had significantly higher levels of TSE than nurses with bachelor's degrees. TSE positively correlated with English language proficiency, degrees of interest in multi-culture, degree of experience in caring for multi-cultural clients, and educational needs for CCN. The regression model explained 28% of TSE. Factors affecting TSE were degree of interest in multi-culture, degree of experience in caring for multi-cultural clients, and educational needs for CCN. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate a need for nurse educators to support nurses to strengthen TSE and provide educational program for TSE to provide nurses with strategies for raising interests in cultural diversity and successful experiences of cultural congruent care.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in body image and apparel fashion orientation according to gender and somatotype. And the paths for the apparel fashion orientation affected by these variables were also analyzed. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 210 male and 180 female college students. The results of this research are as follows: It was found that subjective somatotypes of male and female college students were different from objective somatotypes and that female college students showed high degree of somatotype distortion compared to male college students. The body image was composed of three factors, interest in appearance', concern about weight' and satisfaction in appearance'. Female college students were highly interested in appearance and weight with exhibiting high interest in appearance for the persons who have a thin somatotype and in weight for the persons who have an obesity somatotype, respectively. Female college students were more closely associated with fashion than male students. The higher interest in appearance, concern about weight and satisfaction in appearance persons have, the higher degree of leadership in fashion opinion, fashion innovativeness and confidence in apparel the persons showed. Thus, female students, thin somatotypical persons or standard somatotypical persons were highly interested in appearance. The persons who are more concerned about appearance showed the high degree of leadership in fashion opinion, fashion innovativeness and confidence in apparel.
