  • 외부에서 주어지는 힘에 대하여 변형이 되는 곡면(혹은 곡선, 입체)의 움직임을 사실적으로 구현하는 일은 컴퓨터 그래픽스에서 많은 관심을 받고 있는 분야이다. 1980년대 이전에는 주로 기하학적인 방법이 쓰였으므로 움직임을 사실적으로 구현하는 데 제약이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 물리법칙을 표현하는 방정식을 이용하여 변형 가능한 곡면의 움직임을 좀 더 사실적으로 구현하는, 이른바 물리법칙을 이용한 모델링에 관하여 알려진 방법과 결과들을 소개한다.

An Evaluation of Crashworthiness for the car-bodies of KHST (한국형 고속전철 차체의 충돌안전도 평가 연구)

  • In this paper, crashworthiness of the KHST carbodies is evaluated by numerical simulation under the SNCF accident scenario (collision against a movable rigid mass of 15 ton at 110 kph) and the scenario of train-to-train collision at 30 kph. The numerical results of the several simulations, such as the accident collided against a deformable dump truck of 15 tons at 110 kph, the driver's dummy analysis using the integrated analysis method, and the accident of train-to-train collision for the first three units at 30 kph, show good performances in the viewpoint of energy absorption and survival space.

  • The indentation process in the Vickers hardness test is a kind of controlled local plastic deformation. Vickers hardness is defined as indenting force per unit area indented by a pyramid-shaped diamond at the hardness test. That is a measure of mechanical resistance against indentation of a rigid body into the deformable material. Therefore it is well known that Vickers hardness has a direct relation with the flow stress of the strain-hardened tmaterial. This relation is theoretically investigated and the result is given for use in practice.

  • An adaptive active contour algorithm which shows stable object tracking performance under the moving or deformable environments, is proposed. In order to cope with local deformation of the object, an energy map is generated from the difference of the consecutive images and a new energy function based on the energy map is presented. The algorithm is evaluated on a set of artificial and real images to verify the efficiencies and test results show the stable tracking performance for the moving objects.

  • This paper proposes efficient cloth animation and collision handling methods. There have been various techniques for the generation of cloth behavior. However, the cloth animation is still a challenging subject in real-time environments. This paper presents an efficient animation method based on implicit integration. The proposed method can efficiently animate virtual cloth object with complex geometry. In addition, this paper also introduces an efficient collision handling method. The collision resolution is another important issue in cloth animation since deformable objects has special collision problem called self-collision. In this paper, the self-collision was successfully avoided in real - time environments.

  • 컴퓨터상의 물체들을 사용자가 원하는 형태로 변형시켜주는 것은 그래픽스에서 흥미로운 과제이다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 입력에 따라 자연스러운 변형을 보여주는 방법을 제시한다. 단지 컴퓨터 상에서 물체들의 물리적인 성질만 주어진다면, 물리기반 모델링을 이용해서 어떤 물체들에 대해서도 변형에 대한 동작이 가능하다. 본 논문에서 제시한 개선된 변형 모델은 컴퓨터 게임이나 시뮬레이션등에 널리 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • This paper deals with the buckling load of antisymmetric angle-ply and cross-ply laminated rectangular plates. Buckling analysis is preformed for a simply supported, shear deformable laminated plate subjected to uniaxial compression and biaxial compression combined with uniform lateral pression. The shear deformation theory is considered to figure out a more exact behavior of laminated plates exactly. The purposes of this study are to formulate anisotropic laminated plates with shear deformation and to investigate the buckling load according to the various variables of laminated plates by using the exact solutions for anisotropic laminated plates having simply supported boundary.

  • Two-way shape memory effect(TWSME) under residual stresses are considered in the present study. The structure using two-way shape memory effect concept returns to its initial shape by increasing or decreasing temperature under the initially given residual stress. In the present study, we use a thermo-mechanical constitutive equation of SMA and laminated composite beam are considered as simple morphing structural components which are based on large deformable 2D composite beam theory. Numerical results of fully coupled SMA-composite structures are presented.

  • Inflatable panels made of modern and new textile materials can be inflated at high pressure to have a high mechanical strength. This paper is based on the finite element method as a general solution to determine the characteristics of deformed inflatable panels at high pressure in various end and loading conditions. Proposed method is based on the construction of weak form of formulation and application of Reduced Integration Element method (RIE) to solve the numerical problem of shear locking. The numerical results are validated as an outcome of comparison with other published results.
