  • Recently, many advanced video application services over the mobile wireless networks have required a transcoder which can efficiently reduce the size of compressed video bitstreams. The transcoder can be worked in either the spatial domain or the DCT domain. In this paper, we propose a new fast hybrid-type transcoder which can efficiently reduce the frame size with keeping the visual quality. The proposed scheme consists of two major processes: a transform domain process and a spatial domain process. We also propose a scheme for coding mode selection and motion vector refinement. Experimental results show that our approach can reduce the computational complexity more than any other conventional spatial-domain transcoder with keeping the visual quality.

  • This paper introduces a direct-conversion CMOS RF transmitter for the IEEE 802.15.4 standard with a low-power high-gain up-conversion mixer designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ process. The designed RF DCT(Direct Conversion Transmitter) is composed of differential DAC(Digital to Analog Converter), passive low-pass filter, quadrature active mixer and drive amplifier. The most important characteristic in designing RF DCT is to satisfy the 2.4 GHz Zigbee standard in low power. The quadrature active mixer inside the proposed RF DCT provides enough high gain as well as sufficient linearity using a gain boosting technique. The measurement results for the proposed transmitter show very low power consumption of 7.8 mA, output power more than 0 dBm and ACPR (Adjacent Channel Power Ratio) of -30 dBc.

  • This paper presents different issues of the real-time compression algorithms without compromising the video quality in the distributed environment. The theme of this research is to manage the critical processing stages (speed, information lost, redundancy, distortion) having better encoded ratio, without the fluctuation of quantization scale by using IP configuration. In this paper, different techniques such as distortion measure with searching method cover the block phenomenon with motion estimation process while passing technique and floating measurement is configured by discrete cosine transform (DCT) to reduce computational complexity which is implemented in this video codec. While delay of bits in encoded buffer side especially in real-time state is being controlled to produce the video with high quality and maintenance a low buffering delay. Our results show the performance accuracy gain with better achievement in all the above processes in an encouraging mode.

  • An adaptive block DCT coding scheme is implemented with the same average distortion designated for each block. In this paper, a new implementation of the Discrete Cosine Tranform(DCT) for image is described. Practical system application is attained by maintaining a balance between complexity of implementation and performance. ADCT sub-blocks are sorted into mean according to level of image activity, measured by mean within each sub-block. Excellent performance is demonstrated in terms of PSNR of original and reconstructed images.

  • This paper develops a novel robust information hiding technique that uses channel codes derived from the error-correcting coder. The message encoded by the cover encoder is hidden in DCT transform domain of the cover image. The method exploits the sensitivity of human eyes to adaptively embed a visually recognizable message in an image without affecting the perceptual quality of the underlying cover image. Experimental results show that the proposed data hiding technique is robust to cropping operations, lossy JPEG compression, noise interference and secure against known stego attacks. The performance of the proposed scheme with turbo coder is superior to that without turbo coder.

  • This paper proposes a method which inserts watermark created by secret sharing method and then extracts it from watermarked image for the protection of copyrights of digital images. To do this, after image's DCT transform, once some values created by Key sharing method which used Lagrange interpolation are inserted into a frequency domain, one can recreate original watermark even if only k seeds are extracted among n of inserted seeds ($n{\geq}k$).

  • The primary goal of this paper is to facilitate the rate-distortion control in compressed domain, without introducing a full decoding and re-encoding system in pixel domain. For this aim, the error propagation behavior over several frame-sequences due to DCT coefficients-drop is investigated on the basis of statistical and empirical properties. Then, such properties are used to develop a simple estimation model for the CD distortion accounting for the characteristics of the underlying coded-frame. Experimental results show that the proposed model allows us to effectively control rate-distortions into coded-frames over different kinds of video sequences.

  • Compression coding based on block coding has been applied in image and video compression standard. But there is no block effect measurement due to block based image coding. In this paper, we propose a objective block effects measurement to reconstructed image using subblock DCT coding. Experimental results show that the block effects measures given by the suggested method agree well with the subjective ranking. This new objective measurement is simple and effective in measuring the block effect in the reconstructed image.

  • Gabor cosine and sine functions have widely been used to describe the human visual filters. This paper presents a new method to locally represent image frequency components using these functions. The parameters of basis functions are determined based on dc ripple and the sidelobe strength of step response. The resultant transform consisting of Gabor cosine and sine functions is compared with existing transforms by computing the joint effective width and by applying to the image reconstruction with the limited number of transformed coefficients. The experimental results show that the proposed transform has better performance than DGT and DCT.

  • In this paper we present a cryptanalysis of the generalized patchwork algorithm under the assumption that the attacker possesses only a single copy of the watermarked audio. In the scheme, watermark is inserted by modifying randomly chosen DCT values in each block of the original audio. Towards the attack we first fit low degree polynomials (which minimize the mean square error) on the data available from each block of the watermarked content. Then we replace the corresponding DCT data of the at-tacked audio by the available data from the polynomials to construct an attacked audio. The technique nullifies the modification achieved during watermark embedding. Experimental results show that recovery of the watermark becomes difficult after the attack.
