  • The combined shear and compression behaviors of seismic isolation rubber bearings are analyzed using the hyperelasticity material option of the ABAQUS computer program. The purpose of the analysis is to predict the behavior of laminated rubber bearing before the several tests. Some kinds of strain energy density functions are used as constitutive law for rubber itself having the hyperelasticity. The results are compared with test data peformed in Italy The analysis results show a little different with experimental results depending on the constitutive model and the refinement of finite element. The high order form of strain energy density functions results in good agreements and the mesh refinement above two for one rubber layer is enough to get good results.

  • The present study is aimed to investigate flow characteristics of Two dimensional backward-facing step by numerical approach. A convection conservative difference scheme based upon SOLA algorithm is used for the solution of the two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations to simulate the laminar, transitional and turbulent flow conditions at which the experimental data can be available for the backward-facing step. The twenty kinds of Reynolds number are used for the calculations. In an effort to demonstrate that the reported solutions are dependent on the mesh refinement, computations are performed on seven different meshes of uniformly increasing refinement. Also to investigate the result of inflow dependence, two kinds of the inflow profile are chosen for the laminar flow. As criterion of benchmarking the result of numerical simulation, reattachment length is used for the selected Reynolds numbers.

  • Ontologies are being used in order to define common vocabularies to describe the elements of schemas involved in a particular application. The problem of finding correspondences between ontologies concepts, called ontology matching, consists in the discovery of correspondences between terms of vocabularies (represented by ontologies) used by various applications. The majority of solutions proposed in the literature, despite being fully automatic, has heuristic nature and may produce nonsatisfactory results. The problem intensifies when dealing with large data sources. The goal of this paper is to propose a method for generation and incremental refinement of correspondences between ontologies. The proposed approach uses filtering techniques, as well as user feedback to support the generation and refinement of such matches. For validation purposes, a tool was developed and some experiments were conducted.

  • We investigate numerical properties of Newton's algorithm for improving an eigenpair of a real matrix A using only fixed precision arithmetic. We show that under natural assumptions it produces an eigenpair of a componentwise small relative perturbation of the data matrix A.

  • Adaptive mesh refinement(AMR) is one of the popular computational simulation techniques used in various scientific and engineering fields. Although AMR data is organized in a hierarchical multi-resolution data structure, traditional volume visualization algorithms such as ray-casting and splatting cannot handle the form without converting it to a sophisticated data structure. In this paper, we present a hierarchical multi-resolution splatting technique using k-d trees and octrees for AMR data that is suitable for implementation on the latest consumer PC graphics hardware. We describe a graphical user interface to set transfer function and viewing / rendering parameters interactively. Experimental results obtained on a general purpose PC equipped with an nVIDIA GeForce3 card are presented to demonstrate that the proposed techniques can interactively render AMR data(over 20 frames per second). Our scheme can easily be applied to parallel rendering of time-varying AMR data.

  • This paper presents a new data path synthesis algorithm which takes into account simultaneously three important design criteria: testability, design area, and total execution time. We define a goodness measure on the testability of a circuit based on three rules of thumb introduced in prior work on synthesis for testability. We then develop a stepwise refinement synthesis algorithm which carries out the scheduling and allocation tacks in an integrated fashion. Experimental results for benchmark and other circuit examples show that we are able to enhance the testability of circuits with very little overheads on design area and execution time.

The results of the present study prove the fact that the numerical predictions agree well with the experimental data and the flow characteristics are shown at the backward-facing step.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore how public health nurses (PHNs) perceive their roles and duties (R&D), as well as to investigate the change of their R&D, how they manage and solve problems. Methods: The data were collected through focus group interviews. Data were analyzed using Morgan (1998) and Krueger (1998)'s four step analysis. A total of 17 experienced PHNs participated in this study. Results: The results found 5 themes and 19 sub-themes: R&D of health managers and health service providers, factors affecting the changes of PHN's R&D, R&D in adjusting with trends and expanding work field (R&D being reduced, increasing R&D, need to expand R&D), problem with the structure and quality of workforce (lack of nurse manpower, lack of promotion opportunities, increasing non-regular workers, lack of refinement as an expert), and strategies for solving personnel issues (strengthening the job capacity, cultivating professional refinement, strengthening outside activities and political activities, strengthening the roles of PHN-related associations and academy, engagement policy of non-regular workers, expansion of the activity area) Conclusion: PHNs need to recognize their changing R&D and ways they manage and solve problems to enhance their professionalism.

  • Most text data collected through web scraping for artificial intelligence and big data analysis is generally large and unstructured, so a purification process is required for big data analysis. The process becomes structured data that can be analyzed through a heuristic pre-processing refining step and a post-processing machine refining step. Therefore, in this study, in the post-processing machine refining process, the Korean dictionary and the stopword dictionary are used to extract vocabularies for frequency analysis for word cloud analysis. In this process, "user-defined stopwords" are used to efficiently remove stopwords that were not removed. We propose a methodology for applying the "thesaurus" and examine the pros and cons of the proposed refining method through a case analysis using the "user-defined stop word thesaurus" technique proposed to complement the problems of the existing "stop word dictionary" method with R's word cloud technique. We present comparative verification and suggest the effectiveness of practical application of the proposed methodology.

  • In the present paper, we investigate the convergence, equivalence of convergence, rate of convergence and data dependence results using a three step iteration process for mappings satisfying certain contractive condition in hyperbolic spaces. Also we give nontrivial examples for the rate of convergence and data dependence results to show effciency of three step iteration process. The results obtained in this paper may be interpreted as a refinement and improvement of the previously known results.
