Cyclohexanol 이용성 세균의 분리 및 특성 (Isolation and Characterization of Cyclohexanol-utilizing Bacteria)

  • A bacterium, which can utilize cyclohexanol as a sole source of carbon and energy, was isolated from sludge in sewage of Ulsan Industrial Complex for Petrochemicals, Korea and identified as Rhodococcus sp. TK6. The growth conditions of the bacteria were investigated in cyclohexanol containing media. The bacteria utilized cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone, cyclohexane-1,2=diol, cyclopentanol, cyclopentanone, and $\varepsilon$-caprolactone but not cyclohexane, cyclohexane-1,2-dione, and cyclooctanone. The bacteria were able to utilize alcohols such as ethanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-propanol, and 2-butanol as well as cyclohexanol, organic acids such as adipate, propionate, butyrate, valerate, n-caproate, and 6-hydroxycaproate, and aromatic compounds such as phenol, salicylate, p-hydroxbenzoate, and benzoate as a sole source of carbon and energy. Cyclohexanone as a degradation product of cyclohexanol by Rhodococcus sp. TK6 was determined with gas chromatography.

Prediction of Pervaporation Performance Using Solubility Parameter Calculation

  • A Prediction of pervaporation performance was studied by solubility parameter calculation approach for the benzene/cyclohexane mixture system using rubbery blend membrane with various solubility parameters. The solubility parameter of the rubbery blend membranes were controlled with different blend ratio of the poly(acrylonitrile-co-butadiene), poly(styrene-co-butadiene) and poly(vinyl chloride). Screening of blend formulations was accomplished by simple swelling tests. When the content of NBR is increased, the swelling of both benzene and cyclohexane are decreased. However, the ratio of benzene swelling to swelling by cyclohexane (the swelling selectivity) increases. The same is true for blends in which the PVC content is increased. Adoption of a solubility parameter calculation provides an a priori methodology for seeking the best blend formulation.

  • 초강산 담체인 $ZrO_2$ $SO_4{^{2-}}$에 담지된 백금촉매(0.2, 0.5wt% Pt)의 저온 산화반응성을 cyclohexane의 완전산화반응에 대하여 조사 하였다. 충전층 관형반응기에서 반응물질의 전화율로 측정된 촉매활성은 촉매의 산성도와 비표면적에 비례하여 증가하였다 : $Pt/ZrO_2$ $SO_4{^{2-}}$ 촉매 제조과정에서 K(potassium)를 첨가하여 촉매의 산성도와 비표면적을 감소시켰을 때 촉매활성은 K첨가량에 비례하여 감소하였다. 또한 $Pt/ZrO_2$ $SO_4{^{2-}}$촉매는 훨씬 더 큰 비표면적을 가진 $Pt/SiO_2$, 또는 $Pt/Al_2O_3$촉매보다 뛰어난 활성을 보였다 : l5,000ppm cyclohexane농도와 $18,000hr^{-1}$공간속도를 가진 반응물질 흐름을 $250^{\circ}C$에서 0.2wt% $Pt/ZrO_2$ $SO_4{^{2-}}$촉매를 사용하여 전화시킨 결과 96%의 cyclohexane전화율을 보인 반면, 같은 반응조건 하에서 0.2wt% $Pt/SiO_2$와 0.2wt% $Pt/Al_2O_3$촉매는 각각 83%와 79%의 cyclohexane전화율을 보였다.

유기용매 내성 Pseudomonas sp. BCNU 106 균주의 외인성 트레할로스의 영향 (Effect of Exogenous Trehalose on the Solvent Tolerance of Pseudomonas sp. BCNU 106)

  • 유기용매 내성 Pseudomonas sp. BCNU 106은 독성 용매에 의해 일부 생장이 제한되므로 다양한 생존전략이 필요하다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위한 하나의 전략으로 외인성 트레할로오스를 사용하는 것이다. Cyclohexane 존재하에 세포내 트레할로스 함량은 12시간 배양했을 때 181.88 mM로 가장 높게 측정되었고, 세포외 트레할로스 함량은 12시간에서 16시간 사이에 급격하게 감소하였다. 또한 1%(v/v) cyclohexane, hexane, propylbenzene 및 m-xylene 존재하에 0.1 M 트레할로스가 첨가된 LB 배지에서 Pseudomonas sp. BCNU 106 균주의 생장은 트레할로스가 첨가되지 않은 대조군에 비해 각각 89.94, 89.72, 91.25 및 118.9 배 증가하였으며, cyclohexane 및 hexane 존재하에서 0.05 M 트레할로스를 첨가했을 때 4시간 동안 각각 80과 90% 이상의 높은 생존율을 보였다. 이는 배지에 첨가된 트레할로스가 세포 내로 이동하면서 cyclohexane, hexane, propylbenzene 및 m-xylene 스트레스에 대해 방어작용을 한 것으로 보인다. 따라서 성장배지에 트레할로스를 첨가함에 따라 Pseudomonas sp. BCNU 106의 유기용매 내성이 향상되어 생물전환 및 생물분해에 대한 잠재적인 생물촉매로 사용 가능할 것이다.

Application of Flory-Treszczanowicz-Benson model and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory to Excess Molar Volumes of Isomers of Propanol with Cyclohexane or n-Hexane

  • Excess molar volumes ($V_m^E$) of binary mixtures of 1-propanol or 2-propanol (1) + cyclohexane or n-hexane (2) were measured with V-shaped dilatometer at 303.15 K. The $V_m^E$ data for these mixtures varied as: 2-propanol > 1-propanol and were higher for cyclohexane than n-hexane for both propanol systems. The experimental data were correlated with Redlich-Kister polynomial. The $V_m^E$ data were interpreted qualitatively as well as quantitatively in terms of Flory-Treszczanowicz-Benson model and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory. Both models correctly described the sign and shape of $V_m^E$ vs $x_1$ curves. The values calculated by both the models agree well with the experimental data.

알코올 전처치한 흰쥐에 Cyclohexane 투여가 Cytochrome P-450 dependent aniline hydroxylase 활성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Cyclohexane Treatment on the Liver Cytochrome P-450 Dependent Aniline Hydroxylase Activity in Alcohol-pretreated Rats)

  • To evaluate the effect of cyclohexane(CH) treatment on the liver cytochrome P-450 dependent aniline hydroxylase(CYPdAH) activity in alcohol-pretreated animals, CH(1.56 g/kg body weight) was intraperitoneally administered to Sprague-Dawley male rats, which had been drunk 15% alcohol in distilled water for 1,3 and 6 weeks. CH was injected to rats 4 times every other day and the animals were sacrificed at 24 hours after injection of CH. In the alcohol-pretreated rats, liver injuries were not demonstrated on the basis of the liver weight per body weight, the levels of serum alanine aminotransferase and hepatic microsomal glucose-6-phosphatase activities. By the CH treatment, alcohol-pretreated animals showed the significantly increased activity of hepatic microsomal CYPdAH. Concomitantly $V_{max}$ value in CYPdAH was more increased, whereas $K_{M}$ value more decreased in alcohol-pretreated animals by the treatment of CH. In conclusion, the increasing cause of microsomal CYPdAH in CH-treated rats pretreated with alcohol may be due to induction of enzyme protein in rat liver.r.r.

Fe(II) 착화합물에 의한 Cyclohexane의 부분 산화반응 (Partial Oxidation of Cyclohexane with Fe(II) Complexes)

  • Fe(II) 또는 Fe(III)/picolinic acid 유도체로 구성된 착화합물을 이용하며 과산화수소에 의한 cyclohexane의 부분 산화반응을 수행하였다. Cyclohexanone과 cyclohexanol이 주된 생성물이었으며, one/ol비는 3~10이었다. Pyridine/acetic acid 혼합용매(부피비 2.5:1, pH 5.3)에서 가장 우수한 활성을 보였고, 반응온도는 $25{\sim}40^{\circ}C$가 최적이었다. Cyclohexyl hydroperoxide가 반응 중간체임을 확인하였고, adamantane의 부분 산화반응과 radical trap 첨가 실험의 결과로부터 반응은 대부분 non-radical 경로를 거쳐 진행됨을 알 수 있었다.

Miscibility of Branched Polycarbonate Blends with Poly(ethylene-co-1,4-dimethyl cyclohexane terephthalate) Copolyesters

  • The phase behavior of branched polycarbonate (BPC) blends with poly(ethylene terephthalate-co-1,4-dimethyl cyclohexane terephthalate) copolyesters (PECT), as well as their rheological properties, were assessed. Even though BPC blends with PECT prepared by solvent casting proved to be immiscible, BPC and PECT copolyesters containing 1,4-dimethyl cyclohexane (CHDM) from 32 to 80 mole% formed homogeneous mixtures upon heating. The homogenization temperatures of the blends decreased with increasing CHDM content in PECT. The interaction energies of the BPC-PECT pairs calculated from the phase boundary in accordance with the lattice-fluid theory were positive and also decreased with increasing CHDM content in PECT. It was shown that the phase homogenization of these blends occurs upon heating when the combinatorial entropy term, which is favorable for miscibility, overcomes unfavorable energetic terms at elevated temperatures. A novel product, which is not limited by the drawbacks of linear polycarbonate (PC) and evidences processability superior to that of the PC/PECT blends, can be developed via the blending of BPC and PECT.

Synthesis, Characterization and Liquid Phase Oxidation of Cyclohexane with Hydrogen Peroxide over Oxovanadium(IV) Schiff-base Tetradendate Complex Covalently Anchored to Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes (MWNTs)

  • The chemical modification of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) is an emerging area in material science. In the present study, hydroxyl functionalized oxovanadium(IV) Schiff-base; N,N'-bis(4-hydroxysalicylidene)-ethylene-1, 2-diamineoxovanadium(IV), [VO($(OH)_2$-salen)]; has been covalently anchored on modified MWNTs. The new modified MWNTs ([VO($(OH)_2$-salen)]-MWNTs]) have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron (XPS), UV-Vis, Diffuse reflectance (DRS), FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The analytical data indicated a composition corresponding to the mononuclear complex of tetradentate Schiff-base ligand. The characterization of the data showed the absence of extraneous complex, retention of MWNTs and covalently anchored on modified MWNTs. Liquid-phase oxidation of cyclohexane with $H_2O_2$ to a mixture of cyclohexanone, cyclohexanol and cyclohexane-1,2-diol in $CH_3$CN have been reported using oxovanadium(IV) Schiff-base complex covalently anchored on modified MWNTs as catalysts. This catalyst is more selective toward cyclohexanol formation.
