노튼 증폭기의 전류검출성능 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Performance Improvement of Detecting Current of the Norton Amplifier)

  • 본 논문에서는 센서 신호를 전류형태로 수신할 때 유리한 노튼 증폭기에서 전류 입력 시 발생하는 문제점을 분석하고 이를 개선하기 위한 회로를 제시하였다. 출력전압이 일정하게 유지되는 특성을 지닌 연산 증폭기로 구성된 버퍼회로의 출력을 전류의 입력단으로 활용하고, 이 때 버퍼회로에 흐르는 전원전류를 감지해 전류 입력단에서 유입되는 전류를 추출하도록 구성하였다. 제시한 회로의 성능을 확인하기 위해 회로를 구성하고 실험용 전류를 입력했을 때 나타나는 결과를 확인하였으며, 동일한 조건을 노튼 증폭기에 적용했을 때의 결과와 비교하였다. 비교 결과 기존의 노튼 증폭기에서 문제가 되었던 입력 오프셋 전압이 제시한 회로에서는 0V로서 제거되었고, 입력전류에 대한 출력전압의 평균오차는 무려 4.755%로 크게 줄어드는 등 전체적인 특성이 크게 향상되었음을 확인하였다.

온도변화에 따른 LDMOS의 전류변동 억제에 관한 연구 (A Study of Suppression Current for LDMOS under Variation of Temperature)

  • In this paper, the power amplifier using active bias circuits for LDMOS(Lateral Diffused Metal Oxide Semiconductor) MRF-21180 is designed and fabricated. According to change the temperature, the gate voltage of LDMOS is controlled by the fabricated active bias circuits which is made of PNP transistor to suppress drain current. The driving amplifier using MRF-21125 and MRF-21060 is made to drive the LDMOS MRF-21180 power amplifier. The variation of current consumption in the fabricated 60 watt power amplifier has an excellent characteristics of less than 0.1 A, whereas a passive biasing circuit dissipates more than 0.5 A. The implemented power amplifier has the gain over 9 dB, the gain flatness of less than $\pm$0.1 dB and input and output return loss of less than -6 dB over the frequency range 2.11 $\sim$ 2.17 GHz. The DC operation point of this power amplifier at temperature variation 0 $^{\circ}C$ to 60 $^{\circ}C$ is fixed by active bias circuit.

Operational Characteristics of Superconducting Amplifier using Vortex Flux Flow

  • The operational characteristics of superconducting amplifier using vortex flux flow were analyzed from an equivalent circuit in which its current-voltage characteristics for the vortex motion in YBCO microbridge were reflected. For the analysis of operation as an amplifier, dc bias operational point for the superconducting amplifier is determined and then ac operational characteristics for the designed superconducting amplifier were investigated. The variation of transresistance, which describes the operational characteristics of superconducting amplifier, was estimated with respect to conditions of dc bias. The current and the voltage gains, which can be derived from the circuit for small signal analysis, were calculated at each operational point and compared with the results obtained from the numerical analysis for the small signal circuit. From our paper, the characteristics of amplification for superconducting flux flow transistor (SFFT) could be confirmed. The development of the superconducting amplifier applicable to various devices is expected.

Reliability Evaluation of RF Power Amplifier for Wireless Transmitter

  • A class-E RF(Radio Frequency) power amplifier for wireless application is designed using standard CMOS technology. To drive the class-E power amplifier, a class-F RF power amplifier is used and the reliability characteristics are studied with a class-E load network. The reliability characteristic is improved when a finite-DC feed inductor is used instead of an RF choke with the load. After one year of operating, when the load is an RF choke the output current and voltage of the power amplifier decrease about 17% compared to initial values. But when the load is a finite DC-feed inductor the output current and voltage decrease 9.7%. The S-parameter such as input reflection coefficient(S11) and the forward transmission scattering parameter(S21) is simulated with the stress time. In a finite DC-feed inductor the characteristics of S-parameter are changed slightly compared to an RF-choke inductor. From the simulation results, the class-E power amplifier with a finite DC-feed inductor shows superior reliability characteristics compared to power amplifier using an RF choke.

  • This paper shows that higher amplification can be achieved by applying load current on the internal feedback winding of the magnetic amplifier under test. Since the magnetic flux of the control winding and internal feedback winding saturate the core more fully, the permeability tends to zero and load current increases to the value more than that of ordinary magnetic amplifier without feedback.

Slew-Rate Enhanced Low-Dropout Regulator by Dynamic Current Biasing

  • We present a CMOS rail-to-rail class-AB amplifier using dynamic current biasing to improve the delay response of the error amplifier in a low-dropout (LDO) regulator, which is a building block for a wireless power transfer receiver. The response time of conventional error amplifiers deteriorates by slewing due to parasitic capacitance generated at the pass transistor of the LDO regulator. To enhance slewing, an error amplifier with dynamic current biasing was devised. The LDO regulator with the proposed error amplifier was fabricated in a $0.35-{\mu}m$ high-voltage BCDMOS process. We obtained an output voltage of 4 V with a range of input voltages between 4.7 V and 7 V and an output current of up to 212 mA. The settling time during line transient was measured as $9{\mu}s$ for an input variation of 4.7-6 V. In addition, an output capacitor of 100 pF was realized on chip integration.

  • This paper presents a simple high power audio class amplifier which is controlled by a new current control switching method. Although this class D amplifier has an only one current control loop with the proposed switching method, a good performance can be obtained. And a novel switching strategy for driving stereo signal amplifier circuit with three phase full bridge is discussed also. With the simulation and experimental results, usefulness of the proposed amplifier is confirmed.

  • 저전력 전류-모드 신호처리를 위해 새로운 AB급 전류 감산기와 이를 이용한 노튼(Norton) 증폭기를 설계하였다. 전류 감산기는 트랜스리니어 셀(translinear cell), 2개의 전류 미러, 그리고 공통-이미터 증폭기로 구성되었다. 전류 감산의 원리는 트랜스리니어 셀로 입력되는 두 전류의 차가 전류 미러에 의해 얻어지고 이 전류는 공통-이미터 증폭기에 의해 ${\beta}$배 증폭되는 것이다. 노튼 증폭기는 설계한 AB급 전류 감산기와 광대역 전압 버퍼(buffer)로 구성되었다. 시뮬레이션 결과 전류 감산기는 $20{\Omega}$의 입력 저항, 50배의 전류 증폭도, $i_{IN1}$ > $i_{IN2}{\geq}4I_B$의 전류 입력 범위를 갖고 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 노튼 증폭기는 ${\pm}2.5V$ 공급전압에서 312MHz의 단위-이득 주파수, 130dB의 트랜스래지스턴스(transresistance), 4mW의 소비전력은 갖고 있다.

GSM대역 5 W급 전류 모드 D급 전력증폭기의 설계 (Design of 5 W Current-Mode Class D RF Power Amplifier for GSM Band)

  • 본 논문에서는 900 MHz대역에서 70 % 이상의 고효율을 갖는 전류 모드 D급 전력증폭기를 설계, 제작하였다. 푸시-풀 B급 전력증폭기의 구조를 기초로 하여 병렬 고조파 컨트롤 회로를 적용하여, 기존 D급 전력증폭기의 큰 손실 요인이었던 소자 내 커패시턴스의 충, 방전에 의한 전력 손실을 최소화하였다. 측정결과, 900 MHz 대역, 출력전력 3.2 W에서 73 % 전력 부가 효율, 그리고 출력전력 5 W에서 72 % 전력 부가 효율을 각각 얻었으며 DC 전력에 따라 출력의 크기가 선형적으로 변화하는 D급 전력증폭기의 특성을 확인하였다.

뇌파신호 측정을 위한 고정밀 전치 증폭기의 설계 (The Design of High Precision Pre-amplifier for EEG Signal Measurement)

  • A high-precision pre-amplifier is designed for general use in EEG measurement system. It consists of signal generator, signal amplifier with a impedance converter, shield driver, body driver, differential amplifier, and isolation amplifier. The combination of minimum use of inaccurate passive components and the appropriate matching of each monolithic amplifiers results in good noise behavior, low leakage current, high CMRR, high input impedance, and high IMRR. The performance of EEG pre-amplifier has been verified by showing the typical EEG pattevn of a nomad person through the clinical experiments.
