This paper presents a new high-speed SHA-1 pipeline architecture having a computation delay close to the maximum critical path delay of the original SHA-1. The typical SHA-1 pipelines are based on either a hash operation or unfolded hash operations. Their throughputs are greatly enhanced by the parallel processing in the pipeline, but the maximum critical path delay will be increased in comparison with the unfolding of all hash operations in each round. The pipeline stage logics in the proposed SHA-1 has the latency is similar with the result of dividing the maximum threshold delay of a round by the number of iterations. Experimental results show that the proposed SHA-1 pipeline structure is 0.99 and 1.62 at the operating speed ratio according to circuit size, which is superior to the conventional structure. The proposed pipeline architecture is expected to be applicable to various cryptographic and signal processing circuits with iterative operations.

Generating fast round key in AES Rijndael algorithm using three key sizes, such as 128, 192, and 256-bit keys is a critical factor to develop high throughput AES processors. In this paper, we propose on-the-fly round key generator which is applicable to the pipelined and non-pipelined AES processor in which cipher and decipher nodes must be implemented on a chip. The proposed round key generator has modular and area-and-time efficient structure implemented with simple connection of two key expander modules, such as key_exp_m and key_exp_s module. The round key generator for non-pipelined AES processor with support of three key lengths and cipher/decipher modes has about 7.8-ns delay time under 0.25um 2.5V CMOS standard cell library and consists of about 17,700 gates.
In this paper, we first propose the security enhancing of authentication protocol for Hash based RFID tag, and then a digital Codec for RFID tag is designed based on the proposed authentication protocol. The protocol is based on a three-way challenge response authentication protocol between the tags and a back-end server. In order to realize a secure cryptographic authentication mechanism, we modify three types of the protocol packets which defined in the ISO/IEC 18000-3 standard. Thus active attacks such as the Man-in-the-middle and Replay attacks can be easily protected. In order to verify effectiveness of the proposed protocol, a digital Codec for RFID tag is designed using Verilog HDL, and also synthesized using Synopsys Design Compiler with Hynix $0.25\;{\mu}m$ standard-cell library. Through security analysis and comparison result, we will show that the proposed scheme has better performance in user data confidentiality, tag anonymity, Man-in-the-middle attack prevention, replay attack, forgery resistance and location tracking.

This paper propose the technique for the execution authentication of digital signature with TTS(traceable trust server) to guarantee the safe execution of mobile agents. That is to say, it is focused on improving the processing speed of systems and the traffic of network which are problems in the existing studies. The digital signature is used to guarantee the efficient and safe execution and the integrity of mobile agents. The certificate of it is chained with synthesis function, cryptographic algorithm based on public key, and hash function. And white hosts can be protected against the threat of being used maliciously. Then, we prove the efficiency of system overhead and the traffic of network by the analysis. In case the certificate chain of a digital signature is used, the safe execution of mobile agents can be protected against attackers that wish to insert a newly created certificate after cutting off the chain after striking space key 2 times.

This paper describes a design of cryptographic processor that implements the AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) block cipher algorithm "Rijndael". To achieve high throughput rate, a sub-pipeline stage is inserted into a round transformation block, resulting that two consecutive round functions are simultaneously operated. For area-efficient and low-power implementation, the round transformation block is designed to share the hardware resources for encryption and decryption. An efficient on-the-fly key scheduler is devised to supports the three master-key lengths of 128-b/192-b/256-b, and it generates round keys in the first sub-pipeline stage of each round processing. The Verilog-HDL model of the cryptoprocessor was verified using Xilinx FPGA board and test system. The core synthesized using 0.35-${\mu}m$ CMOS cell library consists of about 25,000 gates. Simulation results show that it has a throughput of about 520-Mbits/sec with 220-MHz clock frequency at 2.5-V supply.

A PUF is embedded and implemented into a tag or a device, and outputs a noise y with an input of x, based on its own unique physical characteristics. Although x is used multiple times as inputs of PUF, the PUF outputs slightly different noises, ($y_1,{\cdots}y_n$), and also the PUF has tamper-resistance property, hence it has been widely used in cryptographic protocol. In this paper, we study how to design a PUF-based RFID authentication protocol in a secure and an efficient way. Compared with recent schemes, the proposed scheme guarantees both authentication and privacy of backword/forward under the compromise of long-term secrets stored in tag. And also, the most cost and time-consumming procedure, key recovery algorithm used with PUF, has been desgined in the side of RFID reader, not in the tag, and, consequently, gives possibility to minimize costs for implementation and running time.

In wireless sensor networks, sensors need to communicate with each other to send their sensing data to the administration node and so they are susceptible to many attacks like garbage packet injection that cannot be prevented by using traditional cryptographic approaches. A behavior-based detection is used to defend against such attacks in which some specialized monitoring nodes overhear the communications of their neighbors to detect bad packets. As monitoring nodes use more energy, it is desirable to use the minimal number of monitoring nodes to cover the whole or maximal part of the network. The monitoring nodes can either be selected among the deployed normal nodes or differ in type from normal nodes. In this study, we have developed an algorithm for selecting the predefined number of monitoring nodes needed to cover the maximum number of normal nodes when the different types of normal nodes and monitoring nodes are deployed. We also have investigated experimentally how the number of monitoring nodes and their transmission range affect the connection ratio of the monitoring nodes and the coverage of the normal nodes.

Modular multiplication is one of the most important arithmetic operations in public-key cryptography such as elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) and RSA, and the performance of modular multiplier is a key factor influencing the performance of public-key cryptographic hardware. An efficient hardware implementation of word-based Montgomery modular multiplication algorithm is described in this paper. Our modular multiplier was designed to support eleven field sizes for prime field GF(p) and binary field GF(2k) as defined by SEC2 standard for ECC, making it suitable for lightweight hardware implementations of ECC processors. The proposed architecture employs pipeline scheme between the partial product generation and addition operation and the modular reduction operation to reduce the clock cycles required to compute modular multiplication by 50%. The hardware operation of our modular multiplier was demonstrated by FPGA verification. When synthesized with a 65-nm CMOS cell library, it was realized with 33,635 gate equivalents, and the maximum operating clock frequency was estimated at 147 MHz.

The computing power of graphics processing units(GPU) has already surpassed that of CPU and the gap between their powers is getting wider. Thus, research on GPGPU which applies GPU to general purpose becomes popular and shows great success especially in the field of parallel data processing. Since the implementation of cryptographic algorithm using GPU was started by Cook et at. in 2005, improved results using graphic libraries such as OpenGL and DirectX have been published. In this paper, we present skills and results of implementing block ciphers using CUDA library announced by NVIDIA in 2007. Also, we discuss a general method converting source codes of block ciphers on CPU to those on GPU. On NVIDIA 8800GTX GPU, the resulting speeds of block cipher AES, ARIA, and DES are 4.5Gbps, 7.0Gbps, and 2.8Gbps, respectively which are faster than the those on CPU.

Recently, the importance of the area efficient implementation of cryptographic algorithm for the portable device is increasing. Previous ARIA(Academy, Research Institute, Agency) implementation styles that usually concentrate upon speed, we not suitable for mobile devices in area and power aspects. Thus in this paper, we present an area efficient AR processor which use 32-bit architecture. Using new implementation technique of diffusion layer, the proposed processor has 11301 gates chip area. For 128-bit master key, the ARIA processor needs 87 clock cycles to generate initial round keys, n8 clock cycles to encrypt, and 256 clock cycles to decrypt a 128-bit block of data. Also the processor supports 192-bit and 256-bit master keys. These performances are 7% in area and 13% in speed improved results from previous cases.
