인터넷 선거조사에서 성향가중모형 적용사례 (Applying Propensity Score Adjustment on Election Web Surveys)

  • 본 연구에서는 선거여론조사에서 좀더 많은 젊은 유권자를 접촉하기 위해서 인터넷조사의 적용 가능성을 제시하고자 한다. 2007년 대선여론조사에서 수집한 인구통계학 변수와 공변량 변수를 이용하여 성향점수모형을 추정하였다. 인터넷조사에서 투표성향을 전화조사의 것과 같이 보정하기 위해서 추정한 성향점수모형을 사용하였다. 실제로 인터넷조사 데이터에 성향점수 가중치를 적용함으로써 전화조사의 추정치에 근접하게 됨을 보였다. 성향가중모형을 인터넷조사의 데이터에 적용하여 인터넷조사데이터만으로 전화조사와 유사한 추정치를 얻을 수 있음을 예시함으로써 선거여론조사에서 전화조사의 대안적인 조사방법으로 인터넷조사의 활용가능성을 실제 조사데이터로 입증하였다는 데 그 의의가 있다.

Bayesian smoothing under structural measurement error model with multiple covariates

  • In healthcare and medical research, many important variables have a measurement error such as body mass index and laboratory data. It is also not easy to collect samples of large size because of high cost and long time required to collect the target patient satisfied with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Beside, the demand for solving a complex scientific problem has highly increased so that a semiparametric regression approach could be of substantial value solving this problem. To address the issues of measurement error, small domain and a scientific complexity, we conduct a multivariable Bayesian smoothing under structural measurement error covariate in this article. Specifically we enhance our previous model by incorporating other useful auxiliary covariates free of measurement error. For the regression spline, we use a radial basis functions with fixed knots for the measurement error covariate. We organize a fully Bayesian approach to fit the model and estimate parameters using Markov chain Monte Carlo. Simulation results represent that the method performs well. We illustrate the results using a national survey data for application.

  • Objective: This study attempted to verify the effectiveness of parent education programs which emphasize parents' direct interaction with young children even when using digital devices. For this purpose, parents' play beliefs and their interaction with their children were evaluated by taking a pre-test and post-test. Methods: The subjects of this study were parents of young children attending child care centers. The collected data were analyzed by one-way covariate analysis (ANCOVA) to find out if there was a significant difference in post-test scores after controlling the pre-test as a covariate to minimize possible errors between groups before the experiment. Results: Parents, who had participated in the parent education program which emphasized parents' direct interaction with young children when using digital devices, showed higher increases of play support beliefs and parent-child interaction than the comparative group. Conclusion/Implications: This study confirmed that in order to develop digital fluency from early childhood, parents should avoid indiscriminate use of digital devices at home, maintain direct interaction with their children even when giving them digital devices to play with, and support healthy growth by way of continuing sensitive interaction with their children.

Regression Diagnostic Using Residual Plots

  • It is necessary to check the linearity of selected covariates in regression diagnostics. There are various graphical methods using residual plots such as partial residual plots, augmented partial residual plots and combining conditional expectation and residual plots. In this paper, we propose the modified pseudolikelihood ratio test statistics based on these residual plots to test linearity of selected covariate. These test statistics which measure the distance between the nonparametric and parametric models are derived as a ratio of quadratic forms. The approximate distribution of these statistics is calculated numerically by using three moments. The power comparison of these statistics is given.

  • In ecological studies, animal science, or entomology, the variance of count is considered to have the power of the mean relationship with the mean count as Taylor (1961) presented his famous 'Taylor's Power Law'. In this talk, we are going to review the development of TPL and its extension toward pest management sampling scheme. Different estimation methods are compared. Quasilikelihood approach is suggested to incorporate covariate information. Possible extensions will be discussed.

Discount Survival Models

  • The discount survival model is proposed for the application of the Cox model on the analysis of survival data with time-varying effects of covariates. Algorithms for the recursive estimation of the parameter vector and the retrospective estimation of the survival function are suggested. Also the algorithm of forecasting of the survival function of individuals of specific covariates in the next time interval based on the information gathered until the end of a certain time interval is suggested.

  • We propose a multiprocess dynamic Poisson model for the analysis of Poisson process with the covariates. The algorithm for the recursive estimation of the parameter vector modeling time-varying effects of covariates is suggested. Also the algorithm for forecasting of numbers of events at the next time point based on the information gathered until the current time is suggested.

A Study on the Conditional Survival Function with Random Censored Data

  • In the analysis of cancer data, it is important to make inferences of survival function and to assess the effects of covariates. Cox's proportional hazard model(PHM) and Beran's nonparametric method are generally used to estimate the survival function with covariates. We adjusted the incomplete survival time using the Buckley and James's(1979) pseudo random variables, and then proposed the estimator for the conditional survival function. Also, we carried out the simulation studies to compare the performances of the proposed method.

  • This paper considers the cointegrating vector estimator in the error correction model with stationary covariates, which combines the stationary vector autoregressive model and the nonstationary error correction model. The cointegrating vector estimator is shown to follow the locally asymptotically mixed normal distribution. The variance of the estimator depends on the co­variate effect of stationary regressors, and the asymptotic efficiency improves as the magnitude of the covariate effect increases. An economic application of the money demand equation is provided.

  • Field data have been recorded as the time to failure or the number of failure of systems. We consider the time to failure and covariate variables in some pre-specified follow-up or warranty period. This paper aims to investigate study on the reliability estimation when some additional field data can be collected within-warranty period or after-warranty period. A various likelihood-based methods are outlined and examined for exponential or Weibull distribution.
