Purpose: The standard tool for the pattern identification is used for identifying patterns in patients using a questionnaire. The purpose of this study is to reorganize the standard tool for the pattern identification of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) developed in 2017 and to analyze the reliability and validity of the standard tool for pattern identification by applying it to GERD patients. Methods: To reorganize the standard tool for the pattern identification of GERD developed in the previous study, we searched the literature in the main databases, OASIS (Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System) and CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure). We added the search results to the data used in the previous study and went through the reorganizing courses, such as evaluating the validity of the translation, the Delphi technique, and a small survey. After reorganization, the patients who visited the Kyunghee University Korean Medicine Center for GERD symptoms were provided the questionnaire, including the reorganized standard tool for pattern identification. We analyzed the survey results to evaluate their reliability and validity. Results: Fifty patients completed the questionnaire. Reliability analysis results showed a pattern identification match rate of 86%, Cronbach's α coefficient of 0.834, and intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.907. The Mann - Whitney U test and logistic regression were implemented to check the relations between the survey questions and pattern identification results; the Pearson correlation, compared with other scales, showed a moderate score. Conclusion: We reorganized the standard tool for the pattern identification of GERD to be updated on current issues and so that it is easily used. The analysis results of the questionnaire showed that the reorganized standard tool had high reliability and moderate validity.

In this study, based on the expectation that beauty education based on VR experience of beauty majors will have on expertise and practical ability, it was attempted to develop VR-based beauty subjects and secure an educational environment. A total of 106 learners participated in the study, and the online questionnaire consisted of questions about the development of VR-based beauty subjects, recognition of expertisee and practical skills, and general characteristics. The collected data were verified at the significance level of .05 using the SPSS 21.0 statistical program. As a result of frequency analysis, factor analysis, correlation, and linear regression analysis, the higher the grade, the higher the perception of VR-based beauty subjects development (p<.01). The perception of VR-based beauty subject development was related to VR-based expertise and practical skills for each sub-factor of the recognition of expertise (r=.683, p<.001), practical skills (r=.676, p<.001), and industry-related awareness (r=.543, p<.001). It was found that there was a statistically significant positive (+) correlation with related perception. In addition, it was found that the higher the awareness of VR-based beauty subjects development, the higher the expectation that expertise, practical ability, and industry-related awareness would be improved. As a result, the necessity of developing VR-based beauty subjects and expectations for course operation of majors in the beauty subjects environment were confirmed. In follow-up studies, it is necessary to expand the scope of the sample.

Purpose: Laparoscopic proximal gastrectomy with double-tract reconstruction (LPG-DTR) is a function-preserving procedure performed for treating upper early gastric cancer (EGC). However, few studies have compared the outcomes of LPG-DTR with those of laparoscopic total gastrectomy (LTG). This study aimed at comparing the short-term outcomes of LPG-DTR between LTG and upper EGC. Materials and Methods: For upper-third EGC, a multicenter, prospective, randomized trial was performed to compare those who underwent LPG-DTR with those who underwent LTG. Short-term outcomes, including clinicopathologic results, morbidity, mortality, and postoperative courses, were evaluated using a full analysis set based on the intention-to-treat principle and the per-protocol set. Results: Of the patients, 138 who fulfilled the criteria were randomized to each group. One patient in the LPG-DTR group withdrew consent. Sixty-eight patients underwent LPG-DTR and 69 underwent LTG. The operative time (LPG-DTR=219.4 minutes; LTG=201.8 minutes; P=0.085), estimated blood loss (LPG-DTR=76.0 mL; LTG=66.1 mL; P=0.413), and the morbidity rate (LPG-DTR=23.5%; LTG=17.4%; P=0.373) between the groups were not significantly different. No mortality occurred in either of the study groups. Two weeks post operation, the Visick scores for postprandial symptoms, including reflux symptoms, were not significantly different between the groups (P=0.749). Laboratory findings on postoperative day 5 were not significantly different between the groups. Conclusions: The short-term outcomes of LPG-DTR for upper EGC were comparable to those of LTG.

This study investigated the understanding of pre-service teachers in relation to the 'fog experiment' in the 5th grade 'Weather and Our Daily Life' unit of the 2009 and 2015 revised elementary school science textbooks. Pre-service teachers who participated in this study were 100 students, who are attending the university of education and taking courses in teaching research. After pre-learning about the 2009 and 2015 revised elementary school science textbooks and guide book, pre-service teachers conducted the experiment in groups. After that, the pre-service teachers individually presented answers to three questions, and the results of analyzing the answers are as follows. First, there were 24 (24%) preservice teachers who explained the difference in fog generation in the 2009 and 2015 revised curriculum with related scientific concepts such as condensation and water vapor, and only 1 (1%) of them explained the difference using the concept of saturation. Second, there were 48 (48%) pre-service teachers who found out the reason for the change in the fog experiment method according to the change in the curriculum. Third, pre-service teachers valued the reproduction and success of experiments rather than the importance of scientific knowledge, and such pre-service teachers suggested the use of alternative experiments or website.

This study is to investigate the effect of pre-primary teachers' gender and earth science completion while attending high school on the diversity of concepts, the level of conceptual understanding, and misconceptions about seasonal changes. This study was conducted with 71 pre-primary teachers. The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, the area of concepts used by pre-primary teachers to explain seasonal changes showed a greater difference depending on whether or not they completed earth science while attending high school, rather than depending on gender. Second, although there was no significant gender difference in the conceptual level of pre-primary teachers for seasonal change, the group who completed earth science while attending high school had a statistically significantly higher level of conceptual understanding than the group that did not complete it. Third, the ratio of misconceptions related to seasonal change of pre-primary teachers by gender was not significant, but the group who did not complete earth science while attending high school had a statistically significantly higher percentage of misconceptions than the group that completed it. As a result of the above examination, it is judged that the area of concepts, the level of conceptual understanding, and the misconceptions about seasonal changes of pre-primary teachers are more affected by the completion of earth science courses during high school than by gender differences.

This study used a single group pre and post-experimental design for nursing students to understand the effects of counseling theory and actual subjects on empathy and communication ability by applying traditional lecture-style education and case-based role-playing education. The subjects of this study were 66 students who took counseling theory and actual courses, understood the purpose of the study, and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study among all 2nd grade students enrolled in C nursing college in G area. The curriculum consisted of six weeks of lecture-style education, followed by case-based role-play education for six weeks. Three surveys were conducted before training, after lecture-style training, and after case-based role-play training. The collected data were analyzed using the repeated measurement variance analysis using the SPSS 26.0 program. As a result of this study, when nursing students were selected as 20-29 years old and compared the effectiveness of the program according to gender and time point, there was no significant difference in the empathy ability of the subjects by group or time point. There was no significant difference in communication ability according to the group, but there was a significant difference according to the time point (F=4.20, p=.017). Therefore, it was proved that the application of education using case-based role play to counseling theory and actual subjects has a positive effect on communication ability of nursing students rather than lecture-style education.
Canine babesiosis has been scarcely investigated in the Republic of Korea (ROK). Although it is known that Babesia gibsoni is its primary causative agent, its clinical presentation has not been completely clarified in the ROK. Consequently, the aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical appearance of this parasitic infection based on the anamnesis of the patient and compare of hematological and biochemical test results. Four hundred whole blood samples from patients with a presumptive diagnosis of tick-borne disease were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify the Babesia spp. 18S rRNA gene and by a rapid diagnostic test kit (VetAll Laboratories®) to detect B. gibsoni seroreactive animals. Thirty-six (9.0%) dogs were PCR-positive but only 24 (6.0%) were seropositive. The investigation revealed that all the courses of the disease are present in the ROK, with the acute course being predominant. The acute course tends to consist of inappetence, lethargy, pyrexia, gastrointestinal symptoms, and occasionally hematuria. It also occurs with common hematological abnormalities, such as thrombocytopenia and anemia, and to a lesser extent biochemical abnormalities, such as hyperbilirubinemia, hypoalbuminemia, and elevated liver enzymes. This research shows that B. gibsoni is an endemic hemoparasite capable of producing a variety of clinical manifestations in dogs. For its accurate diagnosis, a descriptive history of the clinical signs, hematology, and biochemical profile of the patient, along with a well-performing PCR assay, are essential. These findings will help in planning pragmatic preventive strategies against this potent threat in the ROK.

Defense fields widely operate unmanned systems to lower vulnerability and enhance combat effectiveness. In the navy, swarm unmanned surface vehicles(USVs) form a cluster within communication range, share situational awareness information among the USVs, and cooperate with them to conduct military missions. This paper proposes an interface system, i.e., Interface Adapter System(IAS), to achieve inter-USV and intra-USV interoperability. We focus on the mission planning subsystem(MPS) for interoperability, which is the core subsystem of the USV to decide courses of action such as automatic path generation and weapon assignments. The central role of the proposed system is to exchange interface data between MPSs and other subsystems in real-time. To this end, we analyzed the operational requirements of the MPS and identified interface messages. Then we developed the IAS using the distributed real-time middleware. As experiments, we conducted several integration tests at swarm USVs simulation environment and measured delay time and loss ratio of interface messages. We expect that the proposed IAS successfully provides bridge roles between the mission planning system and other subsystems.
The purpose of this study is to examine the direction of the elderly theatre by analyzing an example of the elderly theatre program which is attempted in a way of the welfare of senior citizens in terms of cultural support. To this end, the 'Hoechun Circus' composed of elderly women in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, was investigated and analyzed. Research methods uses a case study, performance theory, and peer review strategies to increase the validity of the study. The results of the study are as follows: Firstly, the elderly women intended to communicate with children and adolescents through performance; Secondly, they wanted to communicate with other physically uncomfortable elderly people; Thirdly, they also attempted to communicate with young or middle-aged as well as all residents; Fourthly, they experienced a new genre of theatre to identify themselves in a different ways and enhance their sense of accomplishment and spent their old age pleasantly and informally. Based on these findings, the following suggestions were made. First, we should expand the theatre programs of senior citizens which benchmark the 'Hoechun Circus'. Second, various cases of elderly theater should be studied and policy research to support such elderly theatre is necessary. Besides, educational courses to train elderly theatre experts should also be developed. Third, it should also seek ways for the program to move beyond regional limits and interact with organizations at home and abroad. Fourth, there is room to explore new ways in the field of theater therapy, and the development of sociodrama or psychodrama programs can be an alternative.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, higher education in South Korea has rapidly shifted online. In addition, the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has highlighted the need to introduce innovation teaching methods. To cope with these changes and demands, the learning management system used by domestic universities must therefore be improved. This study developed a learning management system for the application of team-based learning to improve and develop the learning management system of domestic universities. The major research findings are as follows. The analysis results showed that there is not sufficient function to apply new innovation teaching methods, such as team-based learning, in the current learning management system of domestic universities. Therefore, a learning management system capable of supporting team-based learning courses was developed in this study. The system consisted of 'pre-class learning,' 'team activities' and 'participation learning,' which were further classified into nine sub-items. In the future, a survey of system users is planned in order to further improve the system. It is believed that if the proposed learning management system were introduced to domestic universities, it would improve the educational environment and contribute to the spread and use of innovative teaching methods.
