This paper is concerned with the vibration analysis of a simply-supported rectangular plate with a circular cutout. Even though there have been many methods developed for the free vibration of the rectangular plate with a rectangular cutout, very few research has been carried out for the rectangular plate with a circular cutout. In this paper, a new methodology called independent coordinate coupling method, which was developed to save the computational effort for the free vibration analysis of rectangular plate with a rectangular cutout, is applied to the case of circular cutout. The independent coordinate coupling method employs the global coordinate system for the plate and the local coordinate system for the cutout. In the case of the rectangular plate with a circular cutout, the global coordinate system is the Cartesian coordinate system and the local coordinate system is the polar coordinate system. By imposing the compatibility condition, the relationship between the global coordinates and the local coordinates is derived. This equation is then used for the calculation of the mass and stiffness matrices resulting in eigenvalue problem. The numerical results show the efficacy of the proposed method.
Design equations of coupling plates, which connects floor beam of the upper modular unit and overhead beam of the lower one in order to improve serviceability in vibration, are proposed. End conditions of the coupled beams is semi-rigid and the optimal location of the coupling plates are assumed. Rotational constraints for both ends of the coupling plate modeled with beam elements are released and flexibility method is applied to obtain deflection equations of the coupled beam. Proposed equations are defined using the flexibility of the coupling plate, of which size can be determined inversely. Based on numerical analysis, coefficients of the design equations are calibrated and the revised equations are verified to be useful in the design of the coupled beam.
Electric control of eddy coupling offers many new possibilities in process control and other industrial control applications. And a form of speed control for the load is affected for a system driven by costant frequency induction motor. This paper analysis speed-torque characteristic of the eddy-current coupling by using the 3-dimensional analytical method. Characteristic experiment is put into operation for the claw pole type eddy current coupling. Design procedure is presented based on the analysis.
We propose an efficient high voltage level shifter for a high side Buck converter driving a light-emitting diode (LED) lamp. The proposed circuit is comprised of a low voltage pulse width modulation (PWM) signal driver, a coupling capacitor, a resistor, and a diode. The proposed method uses a property of a PWM signal. The property is that the signal repeatedly transits between a low and high level at a certain frequency. A low voltage PWM signal is boosted to a high voltage PWM signal through a coupling capacitor using the property of the PWM signal, and the boosted high voltage PWM signal drives a p-channel metal oxide semiconductor (PMOS) transistor on the high side Buck converter. Experimental results show that the proposed level shifter boosts a low voltage (0 to 20 V) PWM signal at 125 kHz to a high voltage (370 to 380 V) PWM signal with a duty ratio of up to 0.9941.

In a previous theoretical paper, we have derived a unified formula by considering 2-D coupled mode vibrations. The unified formula for electromechanical coupling coefficient of piezoelectric resonator was verified experimentally. The capacitance change near the resonant frequency was investigated to estimate the effective coupling coefficient of the resonator instead of the conventional method based on I-D model. The susceptance spectra were measured for the seven samples of piezoelectric resonator with different aspect ratio. Excellent agreement between theoretical and experimental results was obtained.
Two artificial neural networks (ANN) are used to model the electric coupling probe in the combline resonators. One is used to analyze and synthesize the electric probe, and the other is used to correct errors between the results of the analysis and the synthesis ANNs and the fabrication results. The ANNs for the analysis and the synthesis of the electric probe are trained using the physical dimensions of the electric probe and the corresponding coupling bandwidth which is obtained using the finite element method. The ANNs for the error correction are trained using a very small set of the measurement results. Once trained, the ANN models provide the correct result approaching the accuracy of the measurement. The results from the ANN models show fairly good agreement with those of the measurement and they can be used as good initial design values.
A circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna (MPA) using electromagnetic (EM) coupled fed method is analyzed in view of the two types of coupling mechanisms viz. cavity and parasitic type, proposed earlier. The patch-ground plane distance is varied in order to achieve the fore-mentioned types of couplings. For each case of patch-ground plane distance, the offset position of feedline is optimized for perfect matching and the boresight axial ratio (AR) is observed. It is seen that CP operation is possible only for cavity-type coupling (smaller patch-ground plane distances). The simulated results for the boresight AR for the two types of coupling mechanisms are presented.

Since the manufacturing process in the LTCC process does not allow solid ground planes between ceramic layers to isolate the signal lines, the buried ground should be realized as a meshed ground plane. Both characteristic impedances of the signal lines and couplings between different signal layers are influenced by the properties of these meshed planes. In this paper, we propose a new analysis method for coupling behavior between internal transmission lines, which are isolated by the buried meshed-ground planes. The coupling behavior between layers isolated by meshed-ground planes is investigated by the coupled-transmission line model for the isolated layers. The coupling factors between isolated lines with the meshed-ground are extracted by 2-D FEM calculations.
Sound transmission from the luggage comparment into the car cabin is important in the viewpoint if exhaust and road noises of passenger cars. In this paper, acoustic modal coupling between passenger and luggage compartments through loudspeaker holes at parcel shelf is dealt with for a sedan type passenger car with rigid rear seat. For these purposes, a half-scaled model car is tested and computed by the indirect BEM. Predicted acoustic transfer functions are compared with experimental ones and they agree reasonably well. It is found that the fore-aft resonance frequencies of the passenger cavity in the absence of coupling holes are tend to shift to higher frequencies when the luggage compartment is coupled to the passenger cavity.
This paper suggests the wheel controller for PWS(Power Wheeled Steering) mobile robot. The proposed controller consists of two parts. To control each motor, the sliding mode controller implemented. This method has robustness about modeling error and disturbance, so the velocity tracking is well guaranteed in the presence of varying load. The design of a fuzzy cross-coupling controller for a PWS mobile robot is described here. Fuzzy cross-coupling control directly minimizes the tracking error by coordinating the motion of the two drive wheels. The fuzzy cross-coupling controller has excellent disturbance rejection and therefore is advantageous when the robot is not loaded symmetrically. The capability of the proposed controller was verified through the computer simulation.
