This study considered Elementary school textbook and teacher's manual in Korea in terms of theories on counting. First we considered the meaning of counting in elementary school mathematics based on many preceding researches. And we compared textbooks in Korea with foreign textbooks in Singapore, China, USA. As a result, compared with Korea, these foreign textbooks reflect the theories on counting more actively. First of all, they consider counting to be an important basis for the four operations. Teacher's manual in Korea introduces the theories on counting, but the content was limited and thread was not clear. Based on these consideration, We discussed reflection of elementary school textbook in terms of theories on counting.
Beta ray spectra of $^3H,\;^{14}C\;and\;^{36}Cl$ in liquid scintillation counting system have been calculated using the Monte Carlo method by which physical behaviors of particle transport in medium were simulated. The calculations have been carried out on the basis of beta rays being slowing down according to the continuous slowing down approximation(CSDA) model. Beta rays generated in simulation geometry were traced until they lost their energy below 0.3keV that in known to be the detection limit in the liquid scintillation counter. Scintillator solution in which pure beta emitting radionuclides were dissolved uniformly was assumed to be bottled in the shape of right circular cylinder with 12.5mm in radius and 35mm in height. The comparison of the calculated and measured results showed satisfactory agreement between those two, with slight discrepancy due to self quenching in the case of lower energy of emitted beta particles in the solution.
In this research, we explore whether mere exposure to external cues with vertical progress (e.g., moving upward or moving downward) can influence individuals' persistence to complete focal tasks. Drawing on the theory of embodied cognition, we propose that, a moving-upward (vs. downward) cue activates the abstract concept of difficulty, which is associated with the physical experience of climbing uphill (vs. downhill). Due to this association between moving uphill and difficulty, merely exposing individuals to the moving-upward cue can induce greater feeling of difficulty and this greater difficulty, in turn, reduce individuals' persistence, compared to exposing individuals to the moving-downward cue. Across three studies, we find supporting evidence for the effect of the external cues with vertical progress on individuals' performance both in physical tasks and in a cognitive task.
Multiplication free adaptive digital filtering algorithms are discussed. The proposed. The proposed algorithm uses delta modulation digital filter and the relevant filter weights are updated using the SIGN algorithms to realize an adaptive digital filter without multiplication operations. It is shown that the resulting algorithm can be implemented using simple up/down counting operations. The convergence characteristics of the proposed adaptive digital filtering algorithm and .others are investigated for a system identification problem.
We report an effect of photon pairs on single-photon detection rates, while Hong-Ou-Handel's two-photon interference experiment is performed with photons produced in noncollinear type-I parametric down-conversion. Photon pairing behavior or spatial bunching is measured and shown to cause a decrease in the single photon counting rate. Such a dip is found to result from the fact that the single-photon timing resolution of photodetectors is much longer compared to the time interval between the two photons incident on the single-photon detector.
Excessive drinking of alcohol is known to be one of the main causes of various neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. Scopoletin is known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties, and to protect nerve cells. This study examined whether scopoletin inhibits the alcohol-induced apoptosis of primary hippocampal neurons, and how scopoletin regulates several factors associated with the caspase-mediated pathway. To achieve this, the cell viability and apoptosis rate of primary hippocampal neurons were measured by Cell Counting Kit-8 and flow cytometry, respectively. Apoptosis-related protein expressions (Bax, Bid, caspase-3, caspase-9, and Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP)) were analyzed by Western blotting, and the ANOVA method was used to confirm the significance of the measured results. As a result, scopoletin inhibited the expressions of alcohol-induced apoptosis and apoptosis-related proteins in primary hippocampal neurons. These results suggest that down-regulation of Bid, Bax, and cleaved caspase-9 expression induced by scopoletin down-regulates the expression of cleaved caspase-3, inhibits the expression of cleaved PARP, and finally, inhibits mitochondrial apoptotic pathways. The study suggests that scopoletin is worth developing as a candidate for neuroprotective agent.
This study was conducted to develop the strategy for more effective internal marketing and promoting internal customer satisfaction by grasping the level of internal marketing operations targeting employees within hospital and empirically analyzing the effect of internal marketing operations on internal customer satisfaction. The findings reveal that there is a significant correlation between factors for internal marketing components and internal customer satisfaction. The average factor score for internal customer satisfaction is 3.230 out of 5, which is a little higher than normal levels. Counting down the five factors is as follows: internal communication, education and training, delegation of authority, welfare, compensation system, with compensation system shown as the lowest level and internal communication as the highest level. In addition, the result of multiple regression analysis conducted to inspect the effect of factors for internal marketing components on internal customer satisfaction indicates that among 5 factors, delegation of authority, education and training, and welfare have positive influences on internal customer satisfaction; whereas, compensation system has little effect on it.

One of the ever-increasing demands on the performances of heterodyne interferometers is to improve the measurement resolution, of which current state-of-the-art reaches the region of sub-nanometers. We propose a new scheme of phase-measuring electronics that reduces the measurement resolution without further increase in clock speed. Our scheme adopts a super-heterodyne technique that lowers the original beat frequency to a level of 1 MHz by mixing it with electrically generated reference signal. The technique enables us to measure the phase of Doppler shift with a resolution of 1.58 nanometer at a sampling rate of 1 MHz. To avoid the undesirable decrease in the maximum measurable speed caused by the lowered beat frequency, a special from of frequency up-down counting technique is combined with the super-heterodyning. This alloys performing required phase unwrapping simply by using programmable digital gates without 2$\pi$ ambiguities up to the maximum velocity of 2.35 m/s.
This paper deals with the implementation on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) of PWM switching patterns for a voltage multilevel inverter. The reference data in main microcontroller is transmitted to the FPGA through 16 general purpose I/O ports. Herein, three-phase reference voltage signals are addressed by the last 2-bit (bit 15-14) and their data are assigned in remaining 14-bit, respectively. The carrier signals are created by 16-bit counter in up-down counting mode inside FPGA according to desirable topology. Each reference signal is compared with all carrier signals to generate corresponding PWM switching patterns for control of the multilevel inverter. Useful advantages of this scheme are easy implementation, simple software control and flexibility in adaptation to produce many PWM signals. Some simulations and experiments are carried out to validate the proposed method.
In this paper we propose a new architecture of a programmable digital automatic gain controller(AGC) for analog interface in mixed mode systems. Compared with conventional analog AGCs which have difficulties in integration due to large capacitors, the proposed AGC is easily integrated. So the production cost can be reduced. In addition, The proposed AGC has a better performance in temperature, and power supply variations, and substrate noise than analog counterparts do. To prevent erroneous operations of the AGC due to noise, a mal-function preventer is newly proposed. In addition, to achieve an optimized AGC time constant, we propose a logic block which controls an up-down counting clock. This is directly related to the changing speed of the AGC gain. Implemented with a 0.25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 1-poly, 5-metal CMOS parameters, the AGC operates from a single 2.5V power supply with the dynamic range of 36.ldB and occupies active area of 500$\mu\textrm{m}$${\times}$600$\mu\textrm{m}$
