  • In this paper, an extended switched-inductor quasi-Z-source inverter (ESL-qZSI) with high boost voltage inversion ability is presented, which combines the SL-qZSI with the traditional boost converter, as well as improves the switched-inductor cell. Compared with the classic qZSI topologies, the proposed topology reduces the voltage stresses of capacitors, power devices and diodes for the same input and output voltage. Furthermore, the conversion efficiency is improved. The operation principle of the proposed topology is analyzed in details, which is followed by the comparison between the three topologies. In addition, the performance of the proposed topology is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • The power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells has reached 23.3%. Although significant developments have been made through intensive studies, the stability issue is still challenging. Passivation of perovskite solar cells with a transparent polymer provides better stability; however, there are a few disadvantages of organic polymer such as low thermal stability, weak adhesion and the lack of water retention ability. In this work, we prepared a dual Parylene-F/C layer with 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, A-174, to combine the advantages of organic and inorganic materials. As a result, A-174 treated dual Parylene-F/C layer demonstrated improved passivation effects compared to a single Parylene layer due to the strong binding of Parylene and the water retention ability by $SiO_2$ formed from A-174. This synergetic effects can be expanded to the combination of other organic materials and organosilane compounds.

  • Lactobacillus sakei OPK2-59 isolated from kimchi was found to have ${\gamma}$-aminobutyric acid (GABA) producing ability and glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) activity. When the Lactobacillus sakei OPK2-59 was cultured in MRS broth with 59.13 mM and 177.40 mM monosodium glutamate (MSG), the optimum temperature range and pH for growth were $25-37^{\circ}C$ and pH 6.5, respectively. GABA conversion rates in MRS broth with 59.13 mM and 177.40 mM MSG were 99.58% and 31.00%, respectively at $25^{\circ}C$ and 48 h of cultivation. By using the cell free extract of Lactobacillus sakei OPK2-59, MSG was converted to GABA and the conversion rate was 78.51% at $30^{\circ}C$, pH 5. Conversion of MSG to GABA was enhanced by adding salts such as $CaCl_2$, $FeCl_3$, $MgCl_2$. These data suggest that the ability of Lactobacillus sakei OPK2-59 to produce GABA results from the activity of GAD in the cells and GABA conversion by the cell extract containing GAD can be enhanced by $CaCl_2$, $FeCl_3$, $MgCl_2$.

  • The purpose of this study is developing a converter which is able to convert a 300[KW] power, and is a DC power supply output a 1500[V] DC voltage for inverter driving. The power converter is driven by two converter serisely and keep a high power factor of power source. This system is haven all the characteristic of voltage source converter by having a processing ability of regenerating power. The two converters controls a PWM modulation and output voltage using a only one 16 bit DSP processor.

  • This study was intended to review comprehensively the articles related to temporomandibular joint disorder patients and to analyze psychoanalytically the case with temporomandibular dysfunction and bruxism as a symptom of hysterical conversion disorder. As a result, the author found that , in the aspect of psychoanalysis, the temporomandibular problem and bruxism was a kind of symptom of emotional conflict being converted to the face. I would like to emphasize that the referral process and the ability to work as a therapeutic team including dentist and psychiatrist can enhance the probability of successful treatment for several types of patients.

  • Acetone-dried cells of Arthrobacter simplex were entrapped in several preparations of hydrophilic urethane prepolymers and their steroid converting ability was examined. SeVeral solvents, such as methanol and propylone glycol, wereeffective for the conversion of hydrocortisone to prednisolone. The stability of the immobilized cells during storage and on repeated reactions was also examined. Thisconvenient entrapping method was also applicable for the immobilization of cellular organelles. yeast peroxisomes. The entrapped peroxi-somessh owed the activities of alcohol oxidase and catalase.

  • The aim of this study suggest the THAMS Clinic Camp program to train the interdisciplinary students with humanistic knowledge as well as the skills to perform the scientific and engineering works. Since the future of society is required students with the ability to elicit an emotional empathy, THAMS Clinic Camp program has been planed and performed from year 2012 based on the comprehensive liberal learning. The average employment rate over the past three years of the students who participated in THAMS Clinic Camp program showed 7% better than the overall average employment rate of Andong National University. The another visible educational outcomes of the THAMS Clinic Camp program are following; i) To take place the conversion of recognition for the interdisciplinary activity by breaking down the walls between fragmented disciplines to students and ii) To provide the opportunity that students will understand the past and refocus the current to have the idea to plan for the future in the right direction.

  • Digital Radio Frequency Memory, ( as DRFM ), is a device with the ability to restore output to the input RF signal in the required time after storing the incoming RF signals. Therefore DRFM is widely used in Jammer, EW Simulator, Target Echo Generator, and so on. This paper proposes its hardware implementation composed with the high frequency part and the digital processing part consisting of RF input/output module and local oscillator module. It is also proposed the replicated signal generation method which is consisted of the Analog-Digital conversion in the form of pulsed RF signal quantization, and FPGA to save and produce the playback signal, and RF signals to produce a Digital-Analog Conversion in the digital processing unit. This proposed scheme applied to test board and confirmed the validity of the proposed scheme through the test results obtained by the simulated input signals.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the welfare effects of standards harmonization between technologically asymmetric countries, and to determine optimal harmonization strategies for a country with mid-level technological advancement. Design/methodology - Following Salop's circular city model (Salop, 1979), this study constructs a simple, horizontally-differentiated oligopoly model in which three firms and three countries exist. Each country adopts different compatibility standards and each firm incurs conversion costs for foreign market access due to differences in standards. The conversion costs are related to technology; standards harmonization removes these costs between participating countries. The paper considers three cases: i) no harmonization; ii) harmonization with the more technologically-advanced country and iii) harmonization with the less technologically-advanced country. Findings - The paper first considers a scenario in which all three firms occupy some share of the market in each country. It shows that standards harmonization with both the technologically moreor less-advanced country always increases consumer surplus and social welfare. In addition, the producer surplus will increase if the harmonization partner has a higher technology level, whereas it may decrease if the partner has a lower technology level. It also shows that if most domestic export goods are in sectors with conversion costs above a certain level, harmonizing standards with a technologically more-advanced country should be prioritized. Such strategies, moreover, should be emphasized when there exists a large technology gap among countries. Lastly, the paper considers another scenario, in which harmonization leads to the foreclosure of the non-member firm from the member countries' markets. It shows that harmonization improves the social welfare of a mid-level technology country regardless of its partner's technology. It also shows that the country should prioritize harmonization with the technologically less-advanced country. Originality/value - Though some of the existing studies consider the welfare effects of harmonization, their main assumption is that firms have the same conversion technology. Since complying with standards often requires substantial technological advancement and technical expertise, harmonization of compatibility standards between countries with gaps in technological ability carries different implications. This paper investigates the welfare effects of this harmonization and determines an optimal harmonization strategy while considering technological asymmetry among countries in standards compliance.
