  • Various aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) have become of significant interest to academia and industry in recent times. To satisfy these academic and industrial interests, it is necessary to comprehensively investigate trends in AI-related changes of diverse areas. In this study, we identified and predicted emerging convergences with the help of AI-associated research abstracts collected from the SCOPUS database. The bidirectional encoder representations obtained via the transformers-based topic discovery technique were subsequently deployed to identify emerging topics related to AI. The topics discovered concern edge computing, biomedical algorithms, predictive defect maintenance, medical applications, fake news detection with block chain, explainable AI and COVID-19 applications. Their convergences were further analyzed based on the shortest path between topics to predict emerging convergences. Our findings indicated emerging AI convergences towards healthcare, manufacturing, legal applications, and marketing. These findings are expected to have policy implications for facilitating the convergences in diverse industries. Potentially, this study could contribute to the exploitation and adoption of AI-enabled convergences from a practical perspective.

  • In this article, we propose a typology of industry convergences which encourages to invent new types of products and services through combining technologies across industries and identifying success factors of convergence industries which were resulted by industry convergences. In detail, the proposed typology of industry convergences is analyzed based on three viewpoints such as academic areas that provide the knowledge of convergence technologies, industry structures for the existing markets, and user experiences used for improving user friendliness. Such viewpoints can not only be considered as the sources for convergence industries but also be closely related with success factors of convergence industries. Based on the typology and the success factors of convergence industries, we suggest the implications about policies for the domestic industry convergence. It is expected that the results of this article can be widely applied to further activate industry convergences to overcome the recent global economic downturn.

  • In this paper, some $L_p$-convergences and complete convergences of the maximum of the partial sum for negatively superadditive dependent random variables are obtained. The proofs of the results are based on a new Rosenthal type inequality concerning negatively superadditive dependent random variables.

  • LED lighting systems that combine lighting capability, emotional and physiological characteristics are required for lighting source and multifunctional applications. In this work, Simulation studies using optical analysis software packages, Light Tools, are presented. This is done to estimate the uniformity ratio of illuminance and photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) of the periodic 2D lattice arrangements, such as square, diamond, two-way bias quadrangular, hexagonal, and Kagome lattices, under the same transmissivity, absorptance and reflectivity. It has been found out that the two-dimensional Kagome lattice arrangement exhibited high uniformity ratio of illuminance and PPFD compared to other lattices. Accordingly, these results can be used to guide a design and improve the lighting environment which in turn would maximize the uniform distributions of illuminance.

  • This paper introduces a development of an internet based robot on the view of product development for hardware and software convergences. The robot can report moving images of remote places and navigate there autonomously. In addition it can be controlled by remote users through wireless internet. Even the control program for the robot can be updated by the remote users during the regular operation mode. This paper provides a consistent product data model and generic product development processes that can support the development of the robot, a convergence of various hardware and software parts. It also includes discussions and experiences about the development of the convergence product.
