System Performance and Traffic Control for the AAL Type 2 Traffic in IMT-2000 Networks (IMT-2000 망에서 AAL-2 구조의 트래픽 제어 및 시스템 성능)

  • In this paper, we investigate the system performance when the voice traffic is constructed as the ATM Adaptation Layer type 2(AAL-2) and then it is transmitted to the Base Station Controller(BSC) from the Base Station Transceiver Subsystem(BTS) through El link in International Mobile Telecommunication-2000 (IMT-2000) network. For this purpose, we first briefly describe the architecture of the BTS and the BSC, and then model it as a queueing network. By simulation study, we present the required processing time at traffic control blocks and the timeout time which should be set for multiplexing the user packets in the LIU(Line Interface Unit). Further, we evaluate the performance of physical links and the timeout probability that user packets can not be multiplexed within the established timeout time, and the multiplexing gain. Finally, we present the number of voice users who can be simultaneously admitted on one El link and 99.9% value of the transmission delay from the Radio Channel Element(RCE) to the Selector & Transcoder Subsystem(STS).

  • This paper presents an event-triggered model predictive controller for adaptive cruise control system with sampled and quantized-data. Unlike existing works, a longitudinal continuous-time model is used for the predictive control of the system. To efficiently utilize network resources, event-trigger scheme is employed, which allows limited sensor and actuator signal satisfying the condition that the measurement of errors is over the ratio of a trigger level. The proposed control gain is obtained by solving a convex problem satisfying several linear matrix inequalities at every sampling times. Simulation results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • This paper presents a study on successive approximation measurement of mechanical parameters for motor control system. At the first step of servo system installation, control system gain tuning is troublesome work. Recently, auto-tuning method of motion controller for motor drive system is based on parameter measurement and identification. On the case of first order mechanical system (mechanical parameters are modified by simple inertia and friction), it is necessary for good response to get the accurate measurement or identification of the mechanical parameters. In this paper, novel method applies the binary successive approximation measurement to the inertia and friction coefficient. Computer simulation and experiment for the proposed method will show verification of accuracy and usefulness.

  • Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nichols for PID controllers are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between the methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) can be originated from Z-N(2) by analyzing one loop control system composing of P or PI controller and time delay process. In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into those composing of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics. Then, the approximation of the actual ultimate frequency is proposed as important premise in the translation between Z-N(1) and (2). Such equalization and approximation brings a simple approximated formula which can explain how Z-N(1) is originated from the Z-N(2) in the form of formula.

  • The propulsion marine diesel engine has been widely applied with a mechanical-hydraulic governor to control the ship speed for long time. But it was recently very difficult for the mechanical-hydraullic governor to control the speed of engine under the condition of low speed and low load because of jiggling and hunting by rough fluctuation of rotating torque. To solve these problems of control systems, the performance improvement of mechanical-hydraulic governor is required. In this paper, in order to analyze the speed stability of control systems, the influence of parameters of the engine dead time, gain, damping ratio was discussed on the view of control engineering. The performance improvement of a conventional mechanical hydraulic governor is confirmed to be possible by fuzzy control scheme.

  • This study presents a genetic algorithm-based method fur optimizing control parameters in the pressure control of electro-hydraulic pump with variable displacement. Genetic algorithms are general-purpose optimization methods based on natural evolution and genetics and search the optimal control parameters maximizing a measure that evaluates the performance of a system. Four control gains of the PI-PD cascade controller for an electro-hydraulic pressure control system are optimized using a genetic algorithm in the experiment. Optimized gains are confirmed by inspecting the fitness distribution which represents system performance in gain spaces. It is shown that genetic algorithm is an efficient scheme in optimizing control parameters of the pressure control of electro-hydraulic pump with variable displacement.

  • 이 논문은 자성체 주변에 자기장과 자기장 기울기를 형성하여 자성체의 위치와 각도를 제어하는 자기장 제어 시스템을 위한 제어법을 제안한다. 자기장 제어 시스템을 구성하는 각 코일은 전류 제한 아래 동작하게 되는데 만약 각 코일이 독립적으로 제한되는 경우 합성된 자기장이 주어진 지령과 달라져 자성체의 정렬 및 병진운동 방향이 잘못 제어될 수 있다. 이 논문은 이를 방지하여 방향 우선 제어를 수행하기 위한 비례 전류 지령 보정법을 제안한다. 이와 함께 전압 제한으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 자성체의 과도기 방향 제어 오류를 방지하기 위한 PI 전류제어기 이득 설정 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 전류 지령 보정법의 유효성은 실험을 통해 확인되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 동기 좌표계 비례 적분(PI) 전류 제어기의 이득 산정에 따른 계통 외란 발생 시 제어기의 응답 특성을 연구하였다. PI 전류 제어기의 이득 선정 시 플랜트의 시정수와 적분기 시정수를 같게 설정하는 극점-영점 상쇄 기법을 사용하여 전류 제어 특성을 결정할 수 있다. 그러나 극점-영점 상쇄 기법을 통해 이득이 선정된 전류 제어기는 계통에 외란 발생시 제어기 응답 특성이 느려진다. 적분기 시정수를 샘플링 주기를 이용하여 선정한다면 계통 외란에 강인한 특성을 갖게 된다. 제안된 방법은 각각 선정된 적분기 시정수를 가지고 외란에 대한 주파수 응답 특성과 데드 타임이 추가된 계통연계형 인버터 시뮬레이션 결과를 비교 분석하여 제안된 적분기 시정 수 선정 방법이 외란에 더 강인함을 검증하였다.

Effects of multiple MR dampers controlled by fuzzy-based strategies on structural vibration reduction

  • Fuzzy logic based control has recently been proposed for regulating the properties of magnetorheological (MR) dampers in an effort to reduce vibrations of structures subjected to seismic excitations. So far, most studies showing the effectiveness of these algorithms have focused on the use of a single MR damper. Because multiple dampers would be needed in practical applications, this study aims to evaluate the effects of multiple individually tuned fuzzy-controlled MR dampers in reducing responses of a multi-degree-of-freedom structure subjected to seismic motions. Two different fuzzy-control algorithms are considered, a traditional controller where all parameters are kept constant, and a gain-scheduling control strategy. Different damper placement configurations are also considered, as are different numbers of MR dampers. To determine the robustness of the fuzzy controllers developed to changes in ground excitation, the structure selected is subjected to different earthquake records. Responses analyzed include peak and root mean square displacements, accelerations, and interstory drifts. Results obtained with the fuzzy-based control schemes are compared to passive control strategies.

Input Voltage Range Extension Method for Half-Bridge LLC Converters by Using Magamp Auxiliary Post-Regulator

  • An improved half-bridge LLC converter with a magamp auxiliary post-regulator is proposed in this paper. The function of the magamp is bypassed when the converter works within the low input-voltage range. Meanwhile, it operates as an auxiliary post-regulator when the input voltage is high. By changing the blocking time of the magamp, the dc gain of the converter can be extended. Hence, the input voltage range of the converter is extended. The realization of proposed topology does not require a complicated circuit. The controller of the magamp can be easily implemented using only passive components, transistors and an OP amp. The generalized operational principle is analyzed and the design criterion for the magamp is presented. Finally, a 25V output, 400W experimental prototype was built and tested for a 160-300V input-voltage range to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
