A Study on the Data Compression Algorithm for Just-in-Time Rendering of Concentric Mosaic (동심원 모자이크의 실시간 표현을 위한 데이터 압축 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Concentric mosaics are made with arranging and summing of video frames by using common spacial standards. Compared with previous works on 3-D wavelet transform coding, we have made important design considerations to enable flexible partial decoding and bit-stream random access. A just-in-time(JIT) rendering engine of the compressed concentric mosaic is developed. However, computationally, it is still demanding to accomplish the real-time rendering. Only the contents for specific scene representation are need to be decoded by maintaining compressed data. Thus our proposed algorithm is able to render real concentric mosaic by using lifting scheme instead of wavelet transform.

Comparison of Gesture Characteristics of Career Teachers and Novice Teachers in Elementary Science Class - Focused on the 5th Grade Unit of the Function and Structure of Our Body - (초등과학 수업에서 경력교사와 초보교사의 제스처 특징 비교 - 우리 몸의 구조와 기능 단원을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and differences of gesture between career teachers and novice teachers in elementary science class. In order to analyze the gesture of elementary science teachers, gesture analysis framework was developed. The teachers who participated in the experiment were 2 beginner teachers and 2 career teachers. We analyzed 'bones and muscles', 'digestion', 'breathing', and 'excretion' of 'body' section in the second semester of 5th grade. The video recording of the class scene with the camcorder was recorded and analyzed by Observer XT. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the career teacher lessens unnecessary gestures than the novice teacher. During the class, the career teachers lessened the gestures not related to the context of the class. These differences were more prominent in the activities of the group with many unexpected situations than those of the teachers who prepared the class contents. Second, career teachers have more communication control act than novice teachers. Career teachers have often made adjustments to induce learner presentations or control unnecessary utterances. Third, career teachers efficiently interacted with learners using gestures that can enhance communication.

Movement Search in Video Stream Using Shape Sequence (동영상에서 모양 시퀀스를 이용한 동작 검색 방법)

  • Information on movement of objects in videos can be used as an important part in categorizing and separating the contents of a scene. This paper is proposing a shape-based movement-matching algorithm to effectively find the movement of an object in video streams. Information on object movement is extracted from the object boundaries from the input video frames becoming expressed in continuous 2D shape information while individual 2D shape information is converted into a lD shape feature using the shape descriptor. Object movement in video can be found as simply as searching for a word in a text without a separate movement segmentation process using the sequence of the shape descriptor listed according to order. The performance comparison results with the MPEG-7 shape variation descriptor showed that the proposed method can effectively express the movement information of the object and can be applied to movement search and analysis applications.

Fast Quadtree Based Normalized Cross Correlation Method for Fractal Video Compression using FFT

  • In order to achieve fast computational speed with good visual quality of output video, we propose a frequency domain based new fractal video compression scheme. Normalized cross correlation is used to find the structural self similar domain block for the input range block. To increase the searching speed, cross correlation is implemented in the frequency domain using FFT with one computational operation for all the domain blocks instead of individual block wise calculations. The encoding time is further minimized by applying rotation and reflection DFT properties to the IFFT of zero padded range blocks. The energy of overlap small size domain blocks is pre-computed for the entire reference frame and retaining the energies of the overlapped search window portion of previous adjacent block. Quadtree decompositions are obtained by using domain block motion compensated prediction error as a threshold to control the further partitions of the block. It provides a better level of adaption to the scene contents than fixed block size approach. The result shows that, on average, the proposed method can raise the encoding speed by 48.8 % and 90 % higher than NHEXS and CPM/NCIM algorithms respectively. The compression ratio and PSNR of the proposed method is increased by 15.41 and 0.89 dB higher than that of NHEXS on average. For low bit rate videos, the proposed algorithm achieve the high compression ratio above 120 with more than 31 dB PSNR.

  • In sports video games, especially ball games, motion capture techniques are used to reproduce the ball-driven performances. The amount of motion data needed to create different situations in which athletes exchange balls is bound to increase exponentially with resolution. This paper proposes how avatars in virtual worlds can not only imitate professional athletes in ball games, but also create and edit their actions effectively. First, various ball-handling movements are recorded using motion sensors. We do not really have to control an actual ball; imitating the motions is enough. Next, motion is created by specifying what to pass the ball through, and then making motion to handle the ball in front of the motion sensor. The ball's occupant then passes the ball to the user-specified target through a motion that imitates the user's, and the process is repeated. The method proposed can be used as a convenient user interface for motion based games for players who handle balls.

  • This study investigated the influence of electric facilities damaged by dusts and domestic regulations. Its contents included the around circumstance of electric facilities, regulations concerned with the dust, the actual conditions at the scene, the characteristics of dusts and so on. At the set-up the electric facilities, the around circumstances are bad in summer that highly temperature and many moisture. Besides, elements that are judged the corrosive vapours of the large quantity are detected at the sampled dusts. As the results, if dusts covered with electric facilities, It will be a cause for the electric accidents. From the analyzed data of the actual conditions and the sampled dusts, electric facilities maintenance for the viewpoint of the safety can be possible.

  • Multiple layer displacement mapping methods are able to represent more complex and general geometries which cannot be presented by single layer displacement mapping methods, and provide a realistic scene to digital contents such as 3D games and movies with relatively low costs. However, as we use more layers for details, data space is wasted more because lower layers have less displacement data than higher layers. In this paper, we suggest a lossless compression and rendering method of a multiple layer displacement map. Since we compress the map without data loss, the proposed method provides the same quality as the rendering result that uses an original multiple layer displacement map.

  • 이동멀티미디어 방송 서비스의 국내 표준인 디지털 멀티미디어 방송(DMB) 시스템에서 대화형 컨텐츠는 MPEG-4 씬 디스크립션 정보에 의해서 이루어진다. 따라서 사용자 상호작용이 풍부한 컨텐츠일수록 씬 디스크립션이 전송되기 위해서 요구되는 비트레이트도 높아진다. 그러나 이동 단말에 고품질의 멀티미디어 데이터를 전송하는 지상파 DMB 환경에서는 씬 디스크립션과 같은 부가 데이터의 전송율을 매우 제한적이다. 그러므로 오디오나 비디오 데이터뿐만 아니라 씬 디스크립션 정보도 저대역폭 및 이동 단말을 대상으로 유효한 품질을 보장할 수 있는 형태로 인코딩되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 컨텐츠를 전송하기 전에 인코딩된 MPEG-4 씬 디스크립션 정보를 파악하여 전송시점에 예상되는 비트율에 최적화되도록 재구성함으로써 씬 디스크립션 정보의 전송지연 및 손실을 최소화하는 방안의 연구 내용물 제안하고 실험결과를 소개한다.

  • Currently, image processing are used widely and have various types of characteristics with the applications of VOD(Video on demand), the web casting services, the video conference systems and virtual realities. Using the scene change, at every time of video image transitions, an editor can classify the video context and also require a function of in(Boxing insertion. Digital watermarking provides a solution to illegal copying of digital contents and has many other useful applications, including web broadcast monitoring, transaction tracking, authentication, copy control and device control. The Purpose of this thesis is to implement of nonlinear moving picture editor for the multiple watermarking. For the effective watermarking performance, this thesis considers the protection of image quality reduction and robustness for hiding information concurrently.

  • This study aims to suggest the improvement strategy of law-system for rural landscape planning. The results are as follows. First, for the establishment of the rural and fishing village landscape planning, it is necessary to change the concept of the scene into Landscape to watch from Landscape to feel from now on. Second, it is necessary to establish a rural and fishing village landscape planning of the local unit to manage the rural and fishing village landscape systematically. In addition, it is necessary to cooperate with the Scenic Conservation Act in contents of the basic planning when we perform rural and fishing village development business. Third, it is necessary to make an extra landscape management planning to consider local landscape resources to develop a rural and fishing village. Finally, with an improvement direction of the plan establishment, the action to practice and management in the future is necessary. This method may do wider public information with establishing the management mechanism of the rural and fishing village landscape.
