Sensitivity of resistance forces to localized geometrical imperfections in movement of drill strings in inclined bore-holes

  • The inverse problem about the theoretical analysis of a drill string bending in a channel of an inclined bore-hole with localized geometrical imperfections is studied. The system of ordinary differential equations is first derived based on the theory of curvilinear flexible elastic rods. One can then use these equations to investigate the quasi-static effects of the drill string bending that may occur in the process of raising, lowering and rotation of the string inside the bore-hole. The method for numerical solution of the constructed equations is described. With the proposed method, the phenomenon of the drill column movement, its contact interaction with the bore-hole surface, and the frictional seizure can be simulated for different combinations of velocities, directions of rotation and axial motion of the string. Geometrical imperfections in the shape of localized smoothed breaks of the bore-hole axis line are considered. Some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the applicability of the method proposed.

GP렌즈 착용자에게 피기백 콘택트렌즈 시스템의 적용 (Use of Piggyback Contact Lens System to GP Lens Wearers)

  • 목적: 피기백 렌즈 시스템은 일반적으로 소프트렌즈 위에 GP렌즈를 피팅하는 것이다. 본 연구는 약도의 근시성 난시 대상자 중 본인의 기존에 착용하고 있는 GP렌즈를 이용한 피기백 피팅이 수용될 수 있는지 알아보고자 시행하였다. 대상 및 방법: 약도의 근시성 난시 환자 15명을 대상으로 시행하였다. 대상자는 여자 9명과 남자 6명으로 평균 연령 23.73${\pm}$1.68세이다. 피기백 콘텍트렌즈 시스템으로 피팅하기 전, 착용 2시간 후 및 2주 후에 연구에 관련된 조사를 실시하였다. 검사 항목은 착용감, 최고 교정시력, 덧댐 보정, 대비감도, 입체시 등을 조사하였다. 0.00D(Plano)의 소프트렌즈를 피팅한 후, 위에 본인이 착용했던 기존 GP렌즈를 착용한 피기백 시스템으로 피팅하였다. 결과: 15명을 대상으로 기존에 착용하고 있는 GP렌즈와 비교하여 피기백 렌즈 시스템의 시력, 시기능 및 만족도가 안정적이었다. 착용감, 교정시력, 대비강도가 기존 GP렌즈 착용시와 비슷하거나 증진되는 것으로 나타났다. 시력, 대비감도, 입체시는 피팅 방법에 따라 차이가 없었다. 결론: 기존의 GP렌즈 착용자에게 피기백 렌즈 시스템으로 본인의 GP렌즈를 이용한 피팅이 충분히 수용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 피기백 시스템은 약도의 근시성 난시인 기존의 GP렌즈 착용자의 시생활과 시기능적 욕구를 만족시킬 것으로 판단된다.

  • The areal density of the hard disk drive(HDD) has been increased due to technological advances recently. To achieve the high areal density magnetic recording requires an extremely small gap between the air-bearing surface (ABS) and disk. At the same time, the slider mass and size should be reduced to minimize the physical contact under the operational and environmental conditions. Almost all of 2.5"HDD companies will get ready for adoption of FEMTO slider and already utilized the small slider. FEMTO and small size slider will be mainstream in the 2.5" and other small form factor HDD in the near future. In this study, the flying characteristic of FEMTO slider was examined. Based on the simulation, FEMTO slider is very stable in flying dynamic under the disk modulation, however the flying height sensitivity of the manufacturing tolerances is much bigger than PICO slider. And the other characteristics like impulse response and load/unload dynamic were also examined in this study.tudy.

래디알 동전기 휠의 다축력 특성 (Multi-axial Force Characteristics of Radial Electrodynamic Wheel)

  • The rotating electrodynamic wheel over a conductive plate produces thrust force as well as normal force. Specially, separating the conductive plate and spacing apart each part, the lateral stability of the rotating wheel is guaranteed due to the restoring force into neutral position. In this paper, the force characteristics of the electrodynamic wheel rotating over the conductive plate is analyzed using the finite element tool. First, the dominant parameters are identified considering the geometric configuration and the operating condition. And the sensitivity for the parameter deviation is quantified for the high force density. The above topology can be applied as an actuating principle for inter-city train as well as contact-free transfer device.

Fabrication of enzymatic biosensor based on the poly(3-thiophenecarboxylic acid-co-thiophene) polymer as electron-transfer materials

  • We fabricated glucose oxidase (GOx)-modified biosensor for detection of glucose by physical immobilization of GOx after electrochemical polymerization of the conductive mixture monomers of the 3-thiophenecarboxylic acid (TCA) and thiophene (Th) onto ITO electrode in this study. We confirmed the successfully fabrication of GOx-modified biosensor via FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, contact angle, and cyclic voltammetry. The fabricated biosensor has the detection limit of $0.1{\mu}M$, the linearity of 0.001-27 mM, and sensitivity of $38.75mAM^{-1}cm^{-2}$, respectively. The fabricated biosensor exhibits high interference effects to dopamine, ascorbic acid, and L-cysteine, respectively. From these results, the fabricated GOx-modified biosensor with long linearity and high sensitivity could be used as glucose sensor in human blood sample.

자기 포커싱 방법을 적용한 감속 장치의 자기력 특성에 관한 연구 (Magnetic force Characteristics of the Speed Reducer using Magnetic Focusing)

  • The magnetic gear, which amplifies the torque by filtering the magnetic field generated by the low-speed permanent magnet with a modulator, can exclude gear contact and can be effectively applied when there are environmental restrictions. In this paper, we discuss the magnetic force characteristics of a magnetic gear using a magnetic focusing array that replaces a general permanent magnet array magnetized in a radial direction along the circumferential direction. The torque increasing effect of the discussed array, known as an arrangement that increases the principal component by focusing a radial magnetic field, is compared with that of a general magnetic gear. In particular, in a magnetic gear using such an array, the sensitivity of torque according to variables is analyzed to see how various variables known as factors affecting torque have an effect.

스퀼융합모델을 이용한 디스크 브레이크 스퀼 소음 연구 (Squeal Analysis of Disc Brake Using Analytical-FE Squeal Model)

  • 본 논문은 자동차 디스크 브레이크에서 발생하는 스퀼 현상을 보다 효과적으로 해석할 수 있는 스퀼 융합모델을 소개한다. 시스템의 형상 및 진동모드 추출은 유한요소법을 따르고 각 부품별 접촉부의 기술은 수학적 모델을 이용한다. 특히 회전하는 디스크와 정지상태의 패드 간 마찰력을 수학적으로 정교하게 기술하여 이를 유한요소 운동방정식에 접목한다. 이를 통해 선형안정성의 해의 정확도를 개선한다. 또한 다양한 시스템 파라메터 연구를 통하여 접촉강성에 대한 스퀼 민감도 및 모드연성 메카니즘을 구현한다.

새로운 구조의 접촉식 미세구조 프로필러 (A Newly Designed Contact Profiler for Microstructure)

  • A simple and low cost stylus profiler made of ferrite cores is developed. The devised profiler consists of a contact probe, a measuring transducer, a signal processing unit, and a motorized stage. The contact probe attached to 4-bar spring maintains sufficient stiffness to protect disturbances. An overlap-area type inductive position sensing system is selected as a measuring transducer, which has high sensitivity, repeatability and linearity. The transducer is composed of coil bundles and ferrite cores which have good electromagnetic characteristics in spite of low cost. The repeatability of the profiler with the proposed inductive sensing system is better than 50nm. Experimental results are shown that the proposed profiler can measure the line or 3D profile of an object with sub-micron features.

TIRE MESH 모델을 활용한 랙추력 추정법 개발 (Rack Force Estimation Method using a Tire Mesh Model)

  • In this paper, a new estimation method is proposed to calculate steering rack axial force using a 3 dimensional tire mesh model when a car is standing on the road. This model is established by considering changes of camber angle and contact patch between the tires and the ground according to steering angle. The steering rack bar axial force is estimated based on the static equilibrium equations of forces and moments. A tire friction force is supposed to act on the center point of the contact patch, and the proportional coefficient of friction depending on contact patch is suggested. Using the proposed estimation method, rack axial force sensitivity analysis is evaluated according to changes of suspension geometry. Then optimal motor power of Motor Driven Power Steering(MDPS) is evaluated using suggested rack forces.

Evaluation of freezing and thawing damage of concrete using a nonlinear ultrasonic method

  • Freezing and thawing cycles induce deterioration and strength degradation of concrete structures. This study presumes that a large quantity of contact-type defects develop due to the freezing and thawing cycles of concrete and evaluates the degree of defects based on a nonlinearity parameter. The nonlinearity parameter was obtained by an impact-modulation technique, one of the nonlinear ultrasonic methods. It is then used as an indicator of the degree of contact-type defects. Five types of damaged samples were fabricated according to different freezing and thawing cycles, and the occurrence of opening or cracks on a micro-scale was visually verified via scanning electron microscopy. Dynamic modulus and wave velocity were also measured for a sensitivity comparison with the obtained nonlinearity parameter. The possibility of evaluating strength degradation was also investigated based on a simple correlation of the experimental results.
