  • This study aims to investigate factors influencing customer behavior towards nylon bags and single-use plastics. These factors are environmental protection awareness, health protection awareness, sense of responsibility, expectations, and green marketing. A quantitative method with the use of surveys is deployed to collect data of young people under 30, generating 1650 valid responses. The collected data is then analyzed with SPSS 22, using Cronbach's Alpha and Exploratory Factor Analysis to test the reliability of the model before validating the hypotheses by regression analysis. The study found that the majority of respondents are inclined to use plastic bags, despite their environmental awareness. The results also demonstrate that health consciousness, environmental concerns, self-driven responsibility for the sustainability of young people have a significant impact on their behaviors in using nylon bags and plastic products, whereas expectation and green marketing are confirmed not to be the factors. The study suggests that if green marketing is to gain higher influence, an increase in research and development to support other environmentally friendly packaging would be the right path. Finally, this research proposes some feasible recommendations for the government, which include imposing bolder and more targeted environmental policies on consumers and introducing educational campaigns to raise awareness about minimizing plastic consumption.

  • The proportion of non-farm income among farm household income is over 40%, with the main source coming from the sixth industry. While it is important to understand consumers' preferences to revitalize the sixth industry, the majority of research is focused on producers. Therefore, this study used an Ordered Logit Model to analyze consumer awareness and satisfaction with the 6th industry. As a result, first, the analysis showed that awareness of the sixth industry was generally low, and that the perceptions of gender and regions were different. Second, there were various ways to learn about the sixth industry through media reports, portal searches, and SNS. Third, factors affecting the recognition of the sixth industry were shown to have statistically significant effects on demographic and sociological variables such as age, marriage type, occupation, residential area, and income. • To promote use of nutrition labels, degrees of awareness, use, and satisfaction of nutrition labeling on eating-out menus were investigated by a self-recorded questionnaire from May to July 2010 in 629 participants who visited four bakery chains (n=409) and three ice-cream chains (n=220) located in Daejeon. Of the subjects 53.4% were female, 68.8% aged 20~29 years, and 59.3% visited bakery or ice-cream stores 1~3 times per month. Only 38.2% of participants had knowledge of nutrition-labeling mandates for eating-out menus, and 74.9% had seen labels before in bakery and ice-cream stores. Most subjects understood calorie amount and daily value of sodium very well, but they failed to understand the meaning of daily value. Only 21.2% of the subjects understood nutrition label information completely. Of the participants, 46.7% read nutrition labels in bakery or ice-cream stores when purchasing. Among the subjects who read the labels, 77.2% (36.1% of total subjects) referred to the label information when selecting a menu and 46.9% (21.9% of total subjects) had experienced altering their menu choice based on the information. Exactly 53.3% of subjects answered they did not read nutrition labels since they were not interested or had no time, or because the labels were not noticeable. Satisfaction of the place, timing, and format of nutrition labels at bakery and ice-cream stores fell below average overall. Many subjects wanted trans fat and cholesterol to be added to the labels. In conclusion, degrees of perception, use, and satisfaction of nutrition labels at bakery and ice-cream stores were still low. More effective publicity and consumer education about nutrition labeling will be necessary, and bakery or ice-cream companies should make efforts to improve nutrition labeling such as providing format and place.

  • With the distribution modernization policy advanced by the government and consumers preference toward it, the so called "modern market" has undergone rapid growth. Conversely, traditional market is losing popularity with consumers as a result of inadequate modern structures, small market size, convoluted relationships, inefficient operation and disordered transactions, among others. Therefore, this study seeks to utilize ubiquitous computing, that is, the upgrade of context aware information to 6W1H and promote the market through the interface with Smartphone and provide advanced information through the augmented reality technology. For the construction of context-aware system using user context, the results may significantly differ according to how reference rules are applied to and implemented on knowledge base. In light of above, through the use of RFID technology and 6W1H context awareness, we seek to promote traditional markets.

  • This study investigates consumer awareness and concerns regarding apparel sizing in the realm of online shopping. A survey was conducted with 450 women aged 18-59 who had engaged in online clothing purchases within the past year. It was observed that consumers shop for clothes online an average of 1.6 times per month, with those under 50 shopping more frequently. The importance of size is higher when buying pants than jackets, especially in online shopping compared to offline purchases. Key references guiding online shopping decisions encompassed product sizing codes, customer reviews, and garment dimensions, which were notably favored by consumers with significant concerns. Respondents opted for Korean-style sizing codes for jackets but chose inch-sizing codes for pants. While awareness of height and weight remains high, knowledge of specific body measurements crucial for clothing size design is lacking, suggesting inadequate communication of size information. Respondents prioritized specific areas for jacket and pants fit, yet the lack of comprehensive self-measurements beyond height and weight might present challenges in determining fit based solely on product dimensions. To address this issue, online retailers should display essential garment dimensions and visually suggest clothing sizes according to various body types. These findings provide valuable insights for online retailers to effectively present size information and lay a foundational framework for consumer size education.

  • The purpose of this research is to provide the fundamental data about knitwear laundering and care. A questionnaire was designed and survey data was colleted from male and female consumers. Descriptive statistics, Chi-squire and t-test were conducted for statistical analysis. Results indicated that female consumers were more susceptible with 'handle with care' or 'fragile label' than male consumers. Females preferred hand washing whereas males preferred dry cleaning. Marital status of respondents did not affect awareness of care labels. Consumers considered more about stability of product shape than stain removal. Although most respondents followed proper ways to knitwear care and laundering, they felt that technical knowledge or deep understanding about washing is needed. In order to increase consumer satisfaction with knitwear products, the importance of care labels should be acknowledged.
