The purpose of this paper is to present a new nonlinear feedback control called AACC (Augmented automatic choosing control) for nonlinear systems. Generally, it is easy to design the optimal control laws for linear systems, but it is not so for nonlinear systems, though they have been studied for many years. One of most popular and practical nonlinear control laws is synthesized by applying a linearization method by Taylor expansion truncated at the first order and the linear optimal control method. This is only effective in a small region around the steady state point or in almost linear systems. Controllers based on a change of coordinates in differential geometry are effective in wider...

This paper concerns with a receding horizon estimator (RHE) for discrete-time linear systems subject to constraints on the estimate. In solving the optimization for every horizons, the past all measurement data outside the horizon is discarded and thus the arrival cost is not considered. The RHE in the current work is a finite impulse response (FIR) structure which has some good inherent properties. The proposed RHE can be represented in the simple matrix form for the unconstrained case. Various numerical examples demonstrate how including constraints in the RHE can improve estimation performance. Especially, in the application to the unknown input estimation, it will be shown how the FIR structure in the RHE can improve the estimation speed.
This paper deals with the problem of motion planning for a unicycle-like robot. We present a simple local planner for unicycle model, based on an approximation of the desired configuration generated by local holonomic planner that ignores motion constraints. To guarantee a collision avoidance, we propose an inequality constraint, based on the motion analysis with the constant control input and time interval. Consequently, we formulate our problem as the constrained optimization problem and a feedback scheme based on local sensor information is established by simply solving this problem. Through simulations, we confirm the validity and effectiveness of our algorithm.
This paper deals with the optimal filtering problem constrained to input noise signal corrupting the measurement output for linear discrete-time systems. The transfer matrix H$_2$and/or H$_{\infty}$ norms are used as criteria in an estimation error sense. In this paper, the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filtering Problem in lineal discrete-time systems is solved using the LMI approach, yielding a compromise between the H$_2$and H$_{\infty}$ filter designs. This filter design problems we formulated in a convex optimization framework using linear matrix inequalities. A numerical example is presented.

This paper presents a method to enhance tracking performance of an input-constrained bilinear system using MPC (Model Predictive Control) when a feasible tracking control is known. Since the error dynamics induced by the known tracking control is asymptotically stable, there exists a Lyapunov function for the stable error dynamics. By defining a cost function including the Lyapunov function and describing tracking performance, an MPC law is derived. In simulation, the performance of the proposed MPC law is demonstrated by applying it to a converter model.
A GA-based optimization technique is adopted in the paper to obtain optimal future control inputs for predictive control systems. For reliable future predictions of a process, we identify the underlying process with an NNARX model structure and investigate to reduce the volume of neural network based on the Lipschitz index and a criterion. Since most industrial processes are subject to their constraints, we deal with the input-output constraints by modifying some genetic operators and/or using a penalty strategy in the GAPC. Some computer simulations are given to show the effectiveness of the GAPC method compared with the adaptive GPC algorithm.
Impact response of a vibro-impact system and its contact mechanism was studied. The vibro-impact system is composed of a small secondary system is constrained to move along a slot of fixed length in a large primary system. The contact mechanism is characterized by its coefficient of restitution. Numerical simulation analysis has been used to determine the time-history and the impact statistics of the primary and secondary systems. Input excitation of the primary system was random, and the responses obtained were the velocities of the primary and secondary system, the closing velocity in time axis and the duration time between impacts. The validity of the numerical simulation method was checked by comparing the results with those obtained by other researchers analytically. It is shown that the results obtained by the nemerical simulation analysis showed a good agreement with those for the analytical method.

In this paper, a new evolutionary scheme to design a TSK fuzzy model from relevant data is proposed. The identification of the antecedent rule parameters is performed via the evolutionary algorithm with the unique fitness function and the various evolutionary operators, while the identification of the consequent parameters is done using the least square method. The occurrence of the multiple overlapping membership functions, which is a typical feature of unconstrained optimization, is resolved with the help of the proposed fitness function. The proposed algorithm can generate a fuzzy model with transparent membership functions. Through simulations on various problems, the proposed algorithm found a TSK fuzzy model with better accuracy than those found in previous works with transparent partition of input space.

In this paper we study the consensus problem of SISO (Single-Input Single-Output) linear multi-agent systems under a fixed weighted undirected network communication. The dynamics of each agent can be of any order, while it is constrained to be neutrally stable. Based on a simple root locus argument, we show that the problem at hand is always solvable if the gain and zeros of the dynamic compensator, of which dimension is the same as the number of plant poles on the imaginary axis, are chosen suitably, finally the result is successfully verified by an example.
Psychoacoustic model based methods have recently been introduced in order to enhance speech signals corrupted by ambient noise. In particular, the perceptual filter is analytically derived where the frequency content of the input noisy signal is made the same as that of the estimated clean signal in auditory domain. However, the analytical derivation should rely on the deconvolution associated with the spreading function in the psychoacoustic model, which results in an ill-conditioned problem. In order to cope with the problem associated with the deconvolution, we propose a novel psychoacoustic model based speech enhancement filter whose principle is the same as the perceptual filter, however the filter is derived by a constrained optimization which provides solutions to the ill-conditioned problem. It is demonstrated with artificially generated signals that the proposed filter operates according to the principle. It is shown that superior performance results from the proposed filter over the perceptual filter provided that a clean speech signal is separable from noise.
