  • This study investigated the removal characteristics, Microcystin decomposition and generation of by-products when aqueous Microcystis sp. is oxidized by ozone. The concentration of Microcystin (MC) in aqueous solution has been found by HPLC analysis to decrease continuously by ozonation after the initial, abrupt increase. The kinetic constant of the decomposition of MC-RR and -LR were 0.0596 and 0.0243, respectively. This means that removal efficiency of MC-RR by its oxidative decomposition is preferable compared with that of MC-LR. On the other hand, it has been found that the decomposition product, TOC, exhibits the continuous decrease in the concentration by further ozonation, while DOC and UV-254 increase temporarily until 10 minutes before the decrease. Furthermore, the GC/MSD analysis has revealed that the ozonation of Microcystis sp. for 100minutes affords five kinds of aldehydes, six kinds of alcohols, and trans-1, 2-dimethyl-cyclopropane.

  • This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of agricultural products in Korea, China and Japan and the effect of increasing imports from Korea and China. and then we discussed how to cooperate in the agricultural trade field between the three countries. The results are summarized as follows. First, The intra-industry trade of agricultural products was the most active in Korea and China, followed by the intra-industry trade index between Korea and Japan. The intra-industry trade between China and Japan were the lowest. Second, The mutual complementarity of agricultural products trade between Korea, China and Japan is mostly high. Among them, Korea and Japan are the highest, while Japan and China have the lowest complementarity. Third, it was found that in tariff elimination, imports of rice and meat products increased the most, while the import growth rate of green tea, meat products and ginseng increased the most. Finally, the three countries in Korea, China, and Japan can consider the way to increase the trade of agricultural products in the region by internalizing the trade of complementary items while maintaining a constant level of production of mutually competitive products.

  • A single item order level inventory model for perishable products is considered in which a constant fraction of on hand inventory spoils per unit time. Demand linearly depends on time. The fluctuation of demand is taken into account to determine minimum total cost of the system. Both discrete and continuous fluctuations are considered. The model is developed and solved analytically for infinite time horizon. A numerical example is presented for finite time horizon. Sensitivity analysis of the model is carried out.

  • In order to develope domestic carburizers, the experiment was carried out by applying crystallization heat treatment to domestic anthracites and also to foreign products to compare with domestic anthracites. The present work was mainly concerned with the effect of their degree of crystallization of carbon-bearing materials on carbon pick-up in molten iron. Those effects were evaluated by the measurement of density, chemical composition, specific electric resistivity, and X-ray intensity of carbon-bearing materials. Experimental results thus obtained were summurized as follows. 1. The degree of crystallization of domestic anthracites and foreign products was increased with increasing heat treatment temperature. 2. The more degree of crystallization, the shorter the dissolving time of domestic anthracites in molten iron was obtained, while that of foreign products was remained constant. 3. As the degree of crystallization of domestic anthracites and foreign products was increased, the carbon content as well as carbon recovery in molten iron was increased.

  • We developed the copper core ball electroplated with Sn-Ag-Cu of the eutectic composition which used mostly as Pb free solder ball with high reliability. In order to search for the practicality of this developed copper core ball, the evaluation was executed by measuring the initial joint strength of the sample mounted on the substrate and reflowed and by measuring the joint strength of the sample after the high temperature leaving test and the constant temperature and the humidity leaving test. This evaluation was compered with those of the usual other copper core balls electroplated with (Sn,Sn-Ag,Sn-Cu,Sn-Bi) and the Sn-Ag-Cu solder ball.

  • The object of this study is to predict the import demands for korean textile, textile products and clothing products. The analyzing method performs through demand prediction method is by using Exponential Smoothing Model and STATGRAPHICS. The result from the practice of study is as follows ; Textile import ratio is expected to be increased constantly and the portion of textile import in our national total import is precited to reach to 3.92% in 2003. The import of the textile product to textile will be increased to 33.12% in 2003. The import ratio of clothing product ratio is also estimated to increase annually, Import ratio of clothing-product in textile-product import reaching to total 6.42% (83.89% in 2000, 90.31% in 2003), the growth rate of clothing import will be much higher than that of clothing export. From 2000 to 2003 , textile import is precited to be 5.23%. The import of the textile product will be increased by 8.04%. The import of clothing product will reaches 11.21%, which would be the highest rate among the products under review. Also , it predicts the constant increase as a result of prediction in the nation's total amount of import including the import amount of textile, textile-product, and clothing product.

  • A manufacturing/remanufacturing system is investigated with the consideration of required minimum quality of end-of-used products. A constant demand is satisfied by remanufacturing end-of-used products and manufacturing raw materials outsourced from outside. It is assumed in this system that the buyback price and remanufacturing cost are related to the different quality level of end-of-used products. For remanufacturing, only the used products that satisfy a required minimum quality level will be recycled. Thus, the returning rate is a function of the required minimum quality level. Functions of returning rate, buyback price and remanufacturing cost, which are closely connected to the quality level of end-of-used products, are investigated here. Treating the required minimum quality level of end-of-used products, the length of a cycle, the number of manufacturing lots and remanufacturing lots in a cycle as decision variables, the mathematical models with the objective of minimizing the average total cost are constructed. Through construction of a solution process based on Tabu Search algorithm and calculating examples, the validity of the models is illustrated.

  • In order to compare and analyze the international competitiveness of Non-Timber Forest Products, the analyses of Revealed Comparative Advantage, Market Comparative Advantage, and Constant Market Share were performed in this study. From the result of data analysis from 2002 to 2006, most of items lost the international competitiveness. In the case of chestnut, however, the RCA and MCA indices recently has decreased, but still shows the competitiveness. As a Non-Timber Forest Products show a weak international competitiveness, Import is expected to increased according to the pending FTA and DDA negotiations of Korea/China. Therefore, In order to elevate the international competitiveness, reinforcement of policy support to durable technical development is required to lower the production cost and to heighten the added value.

  • This paper presents inventory models for fresh agriculture products with time-varying deterioration rate. Due to the particularity of fresh agriculture products, the demand rate is a function that depends on sale price and freshness. The deterioration rate increases with time and is assumed to be a time-varying function. In the models, the inventory cycle may be constant or variable. The optimal solutions of models are discussed for different freshness and the deterioration rate. The results of experiments show that the profit depends on the freshness and deterioration rate of products. With the increasing inventory cycle, the sale price and profit increase at first and then start decreasing. Furthermore, when the inventory cycle is variable, the total profit is a binary function of the sale price and inventory cycle. There exist unique sale price and inventory cycle such that the profit is optimal. The results also show that the optimal sale price and inventory cycle depend on the freshness and the deterioration rate of fresh agriculture products.
