  • This paper deals with analytical techniques for performance evaluation of small scaled wind power generator with outer permanent magnet rotor. In part (1), using transfer relations theorem, magnetic field distribution characteristics by PM and armature reaction field are derived. Moreover, electrical parameters such as back-EMF, inductance and resistance are calculated from the obtained field characteristic equations. The proposed analytical techniques are validated by nonlinear finite element method using commercial software 'Maxwell' and performance experiments of the manufactured generator. In part (2), generating characteristics analysis such as constant speed characteristics and constant resistive load characteristics, and performance evaluation according to variation of wind speed will be accomplished using the derived electrical parameters.

  • This study is concerned with the scheduling problem for mixed-model assembly lines in Just-In-Time(JIT) production systems. The most important goal of the scheduling for the mixed-model assembly line in JIT production systems is to keep a constant rate of usage for every part used by the systems. In this study, we develop two heuristic algorithms able to keep a constant rate of usage for every part used by the systems in the single-level and the multi-level. In the single-level, the new algorithm generates sequence schedule by backward tracking and prevents the destruction of sequence schedule which is the weakest point of Miltenburg's algorithms. The new algorithm gives better results in total variations than the Miltenburg's algorithms. In the multi-level, the new algorithm extends the concept of the single-level algorithm and shows more efficient results in total variations than Miltenburg and Sinnamon's algorithms.

  • A calcuation method of the temperature distribution for various shape due to the constant heat input is studied in this paper. So far, the method of try and error is carring out on the mould design. The reason of adopting this method is due to hardly estimate the cooling system in the mould base. As above description, the most part of the mould is supposed as a rectangular, cylinderical and triangular shape and made a governing equation of heat transfer and solved it to numerical analysis by finite-difference method(central- difference). After that in order to confirm that the temperatures are measured on different shape specimens from the part of frequent usage of which are carbon, crome-molybden, tool and stainless steel those were compared with the results of calculations presented in this paper.

Under JIT systems, the most important goal for the sequencing problem is to keep a constant rate of usage every part used by the systems. The sequencing problem is solved using Genetic Algorithm Genetic Algorithm is a heuristic method which can provide a near optimal solution in real time. The performance of proposed technique is compared with existing heuristic methods in terms of solution quality. Various examples are presented and experimental results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the technique.

Under Just-In-Time systems, the most important goal for the sequencing problem is to keep a constant rate of usage every part used by the systems. In this paper, tabu search technique for this problem is proposed. Tabu search is a heuristic method which can provide a near optimal solution in real time. The performance of proposed technique is compared with existing heuristic methods in terms of solution quality and computation time. Various examples are presented and experimental results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the technique.

  • In this article, a subclass of univalent harmonic mapping is introduced by restricting its analytic part to lie in the class $S^{\delta}[{\alpha}]$, $0{\leq}{\alpha}<1$, $-{\infty}<{\delta}<{\infty}$ which has been introduced and studied by Kumar [17] (see also [20], [21], [22], [23]). Coefficient estimations, growth and distortion properties, area theorem and covering estimates of functions in the newly defined class have been established. Furthermore, we also found bound for the Bloch's constant for all functions in that family.

  • In this paper, we prove some rigidity results about embedded minimal hypersurface M ⊂ ℝn+1 with compact ∂M that has one end which is regular at infinity. We first show that if M ⊂ ℝn+1 meets a hyperplane in a constant angle ≥ /2, then M is part of an n-dimensional catenoid. We show that if M meets a sphere in a constant angle and ∂M lies in a hemisphere determined by the hyperplane through the center of the sphere and perpendicular to the limit normal vector nM of the end, then M is part of either a hyperplane or an n-dimensional catenoid. We also show that if M is tangent to a C2 convex hypersurface S, which is symmetric about a hyperplane P and nM is parallel to P, then M is also symmetric about P. In special, if S is rotationally symmetric about the xn+1-axis and nM = en+1, then M is also rotationally symmetric about the xn+1-axis.

  • In order to examine the effect of constant excitation on nonlinear interactions in vibrating modes of circular plates, we added a constant term to a harmonic excitation. A two-degree-of freedom system is derived by using the Galerkin's procedure. The system is shown to have quadratic and cubic nonlinearities subjected to a harmonic excitation.

  • We present dielectric constant measurements of thin films using THz metamaterials fabricated on a quartz substrate. The resonance shifts of the metamaterials exhibit saturation behavior with increasing film thickness. The saturation frequency shift varies with the real part of the dielectric constant, from which the numerical expression for the particular metamaterial design was extracted. We first performed finite-difference time-domain simulations to find an explicit relationship between the saturated frequency shift and the dielectric constant of a thin film, which was confirmed by the experimental results from conventional techniques. In particular, the quartz substrate enables us to determine their values more accurately, because of its low substrate index. As a result, we extracted the dielectric constants of various films whose values have not been addressed previously without precise control of the film thickness.

  • This study describes the geometric characteristic and the 5-axis machining method of end mill body with insert tip. The geometry of end mill body is consisted of the flute part and the insert tip part. Thus, this study defines the flute part as ruled surface with constant helix angle and the insert tip part as rectangular plane on general direction. The geometric algorithm and the 5-axis NC part program were calculated by our programmed software and a sampled end mill body was machined on 5-axis machining center equipped with two index tables. The machined end mill body with insert tip was very agreeable to the designed end mill body with insert tip. Thus, the method proposed in this study may be very useful for the machining of end mill body with insert tip.
