We address the problem of corrective control for two asynchronous sequential machines in parallel connection. Each asynchronous machine receives the same external input and shows independent state transition characteristics. We propose a novel control scheme in which only one corrective controller is employed so as to make the closed-loop system of each machine match the behavior of the corresponding reference model. Compared with the former method utilizing two corrective controllers, our scheme can reduce the controller size and computational load in controller design. We present the existence condition and design procedure for a state-feedback corrective controller under the assumption that the controlled machines are of input/state type. The design procedure for the proposed controller is described in an illustrative example.

A new control algorithm of soft starter is proposed for the reduction of the inrush current during the grid connection of the induction-type wind power generator. Currently, the fixed speed wind turbine using induction generator is the most popular wind generation system in Korea. It is shown that the amount of inrush current mainly depends on the control algorithm of the soft starter, a thyristor-based grid connection device. For the simulation study, a 600kw wind turbine simulation model is developed and the transient waveforms are investigated with conventional md proposed methods. Also experimental results using 3.7kW experimental set-up show that the peak value of inrush current is reduced about 20$\%$ using proposed algorithm.
Connection admission control(CAC), which decides whether or not to accept a new call request, is one of the most Important preventive congestion control techniques in asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) networks. To develop a practical CAC scheme, first we propose a "Modified Cell Loss Probability MP${\nu}"$, which is based on "Virtual Cell Loss Probability P${\nu}"$, taking into account mean burst duration of input traffic source and buffer size in ATM networks. MP${\nu}"$ computes more accurate cell loss probability than P${\nu}"$ without increasing computational complexity, since P${\nu}"$ is formulated simply form the maximum and the average cell rate of input traffic. P${\nu}"$ is overestimated as compared to the real cell loss probability when the mean burst duration is relatively small to the buffer capacity. Then, we Propose a CAC scheme, based on "Modified Virtual Bandwidth(MVB)" method, which may individualize the cell loss probabilities in heterogeneous traffic environments. For the proposed approach, we define the interference intensity to identify interferences between heterogeneous traffic sources and use it as well as MP${\nu}"$ to compute MVB. Our approach is well suitable for ATM networks since it provides high bandwidth utilization and guarantees simple and real time CAC computation for heterogeneous traffic environments.heterogeneous traffic environments.
A current balance problem exists in multi-phase LLC converters due to the resonant parameter tolerance. This paper presents a current balancing method for interleaved three-phase half bridge LLC converters. This method regulates the phase shift angle of the driving signals between the three phases based on a converter with a floating Y-connection. The floating midpoint voltage has different influences on each phase current and makes the three-phase current balance performance better than midpoint non-floating systems. Phase shift control between modules can further regulate the midpoint voltage. Then three phase current sharing is realized without adding extra components. The current distributions in a midpoint non-floating system and a midpoint floating system are compared. Then the principle and implementation of the proposed control strategy are analyzed in detail. A 3kW prototype is built to verify the validity and feasibility of the proposed method.

In this paper, we extend the performance of bidirectional TCP connection over end-to-end network that uses transfer rate-based flow and congestion control. The sharing of a common buffer by TCP packets and acknowledgement has been known to result in an effect called ack compression, where acks of a connection arrive at the source bunched together, resulting in unfairness and degraded throughput. The degradation in throughput due to bidirectional traffic can be significant. Even in the simple case of symmetrical connections with adequate window size, the connection efficiency is improved about 20% for three levels of background traffic 2.5Mbps, 5.0Mbps and 7.5Mbps. Otherwise, the throughput of jitter is reduced about 50% because round trip delay time is smaller between source node and destination node. Also, we show that throughput curve is improved with connection rate algorithm which is proposed for TCP congetion avoidance as a function of aggressiveness threshold for three levels of background traffic 2.5Mbps, 5Mbps and 7.5Mbps. By analyzing the periodic bursty behavior of the source IP queue, we derive estimated for the maximum queue size and arrive at a simple predictor for the degraded throughput, applicable for relatively general situations.

Currently green growth and energy saving are major issues and solution using low-power LED lighting devices are gaining popularity. There are a few standards to control these LED lighting equipment and DMX512 protocol is a typical communication control standard used. DMX512 lighting control protocol is one of standard protocols widely used in various fields which include mainly stage lighting and landscape lighting. But in DMX512 protocol, line is to be connected to a wired connection. Advantage of wired connection is stable data transfer operation but it adds complexity and certain constraints as well in wired connection. To solve this problem, wired connection can be replaced efficiently with a wireless connection but for wireless, problem of data loss and two way communications arises. In this paper, these problems of wireless communication for DMX512 have been addressed and solutions for two way communications and data loss problem have been proposed.

This paper introduces a new hybrid structural connection joint that combines shear walls with section steel beams, fundamentally resolving the construction complexity issue of requiring pre-embedded connectors in the connection between shear walls and steel beams. Initially, a quasi-static loading scheme with load-deformation dual control was employed to conduct low-cycle repeated loading experiments on five new connection joints. Data was acquired using displacement and strain gauges to compare the energy dissipation coefficients of each specimen. The destruction process of the new connection joints was meticulously observed and recorded, delineating it into three stages. Hysteresis curves and skeleton curves of the joint specimens were plotted based on experimental results, summarizing the energy dissipation performance of the joints. It's noteworthy that the addition of shear walls led to an approximate 17% increase in the energy dissipation coefficient. The energy dissipation coefficients of dog-bone-shaped connection joints with shear walls and cover plates reached 2.043 and 2.059, respectively, exhibiting the most comprehensive hysteresis curves. Additionally, the impact of laminated steel plates covering composite concrete floors on the stiffness of semi-rigid joint ends under excessive stretching should not be disregarded. A comparison with finite element analysis results yielded an error of merely 2.2%, offering substantial evidence for the wide-ranging application prospects of this innovative joint in seismic performance.

Connection admission decision in ATM networks requires decision made in real time using fast algorithm. It is difficult to construct a model of the multiplexed traffic and thus, approximation of the traffic load is necessary. In this paper, we propose a measurement-based dynamic CAC(Connection admission Control) in ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks, which observes current traffic by the moving window and set the window size to the value which is computed from the measured cell loss amount. It is based on the measurements of the traffic load over an admission period that is load enough to reflect the current traffic behavior instead of analytic modeling. And, the dynamic reallocation of bandwidth for each class leads to effective bandwidth utilization. The performance of proposed method is analyzed through computer simulation. The performance of proposed method is analyzed by using SIMAN simulation package and FORTRAN language. As can be seen in the simulation result, cell loss performance and bandwidth utilization have been increased.
We apply a "sliding-window" Maximum Likelihood(ML) estimator to estimate traffic parameters On-Off source and develop a method for estimating stochastic predicted individual cell arrival rates. Based on these results, we propose a simple Connection Admission Control(CAC)scheme for delay sensitive services in broadband onboard packet switching satellite systems. The algorithms are motivated by the limited onboard satellite buffer, the large propagation delay, and low computational capabilities inherent in satellite communication systems. We develop an algorithm using the predicted individual cell loss ratio instead of using steady state cell loss ratios. We demonstrate the CAC benefits of this approach over using steady state cell loss ratios as well as predicted total cell loss ratios. We also derive the predictive saturation probability and the predictive cell loss ratio and use them to control the total number of connections. Predictive congestion control mechanisms allow a satellite network to operate in the optimum region of low delay and high throughput. This is different from the traditional reactive congestion control mechanism that allows the network to recover from the congested state. Numerical and simulation results obtained suggest that the proposed predictive scheme is a promising approach for real time CAC.

A technique is presented for generating a compound human motion from its primitive motions obtained by a motion capture system. Some human fundamental motions are modeled in a 3-D way and registered as primitive motions. Because the factorization method is used for the motion capture, calibration of video cameras and connection of the motion in the direction of time is both unnecessary. Employing these motions, various compound human motions are generated by connecting the motions after having applied rotation and parallel transformation to them. Linear interpolation is done at the discontinuous boundary between primitive motions and smooth connection is achieved. Experimental results show satisfactory performance of the proposed technique. The technique may contribute to producing various complicated human motions without much effort using a strict motion capture system.
