The purpose of present study is to assess the maximum width of the surface cracks using the histogram analysis of image processing techniques in concrete structures. For this purpose, the concrete crack image is acquired by the camera. The image is Grayscale coded and Binary coded. After Binary coded image is Dilate and Erode coded, the image is then recognized as separated objects by applying Labeling techniques. Over time, dust and stains may occur naturally on the surface of concrete. The crack image of concrete may include shadows and reflections by lighting depending on a surrounding conditions. In general, concrete cracks occur in a continuous pattern and noise of image appears in the form of shot noises. Bilateral Blurring and Adaptive Threshold apply to the Grayscale image to eliminate these effects. The remaining noises are removed by the object area ratio to the Labeled area. The maximum numbers of pixels and its positions in the crack objects without noises are calculated in x-direction and y-direction by Histogram analysis. The widths of the crack are estimated by trigonometric ratio at the positions of the pixels maximum numbers for the Labeled objects. Finally, the maximum crack width estimated by the proposed method is compared to the crack width measured with the crack gauge. The proposed method by the present study may increase the reliability for the estimation of maximum crack width using image processing techniques in concrete surface images.

This study investigates human floor impact sounds; not only the children's jumping and running represented by heavy-weight impact source such as bang machine and impact ball but also the high-heel walking and the light weight object dropping represented by tapping machine in the standard measurements. However, due to reliability problems as a standard impactor, bang machine has not been included in the new draft of ISO 10140 Part 3: Measurement of impact sound insulation. Therefore, the procedure to convert the floor impact sound level of the bang machine into that of the impact ball has been demanded because the bang machine has been only the standard heavy-weight standard impact source and much of its data has been collected, This study indicates that the use of impact ball is reliable and that the bang machine data can be successfully converted into the impact ball data in case of box-frame type reinforced concrete structures.

In this paper a two-step algorithm is proposed to efficiently generate rebar elements from 3D CAD data in the context of CAD/CAE data transfer. The first step is an algorithm to identify various type rebar objects and their attributes by analyzing 3D CAD data in STEP format, which is one of the international data standards. The second algorithmic step is a procedure to generate one-dimensional rebar elements from the object data made through the first step for finite element analysis or other CAE tasks. Successful rebar element data generation from real 3D CAD data for a reinforced concrete structure shows the efficacy of the proposed algorithm.

Reinforced concrete buildings damaged by earthquake which can be reused can ensure the stability in its structure by repair-restrengthening, but when such a repair-restrengthening is conducted inappropriately or its structural strength is greatly reduced by earthquake again, it should have repair-restrengthening. This study selects beam-column joints which are vulnerable to earthquake as the object of experiment, performs repair-restrengthening after applying the first and the second dynamic loading to the objects of experiment, examines the capacity of restrengthening according to structural characteristics and loading velocity and verifys the validity of repair-restrengthening.
Recently, the development of the paved track is required as a low-maintenance of conventional line. The main reason is that the line capacity and bearing of track are increased progressively. The important factors of paved track are stability and applicability. To be based on this subject, cement mortar pouring type paved track is developed. The paved track is a kind of concrete track using the prepacked concrete technique. The most important thing to design the paved track is to optimize the track structure and materials considering various conditions. Until now, the paved track is verified a various material and structure test. In this paper, it is introduce to the test construction at the urban subway main line. The test construction is completed at Dec. 2007. A major object and substance is a guarantee of construction progress on main line, track performance, construction technique for curved section, transition zone and winter season, recycling the used ballast and application of specific sleeper for sharp curved section.
In this study, the experiment of the measuring of four different types of flooring materials' thermal characteristics was conducted and examined during the summer. The experimental materials were arranged on the existing slab of the roof, and then its thermal characteristics were examined from the point of view of thermal radiation analysis. The aim of this study is ultimately to draw the fundamental data for improvements in a building's thermal function and reduce the urban heat island phenomena through optimizing the thermal characteristics of the surface covering materials of a building. The results from this study are as follows; 1) Each experimental material's albedo was calculated as 0.83 on the aluminum panel, 0.40 on the rock block, 0.37 on the wood deck and 0.21 on the concrete. It shows that the concrete material, which has the lowest short wave reflective rate, absorbed the most radiation energy and the aluminium panel has absorbed the lowest radiation energy. 2) From the each experimental object's value of the long wave radiation, the concrete material measured the highest, at $628W/m^2$, and the aluminium panel measured the lowest at $412W/m^2$. Therefore, it verifies that the experimental objects' own radiation rate determines the amount of the long wave radiation. 3) The degree of energy absorbency of a building's surface covering materials is greatly influenced by its own albedo and radiation rate, Therefore, it needs to be considered for the improvements in a building's thermal function and reducing the urban heat island phenomena. 4) According to the evaluation result of the each experimental object's overall heat transmission screening function on the roof of a building, the wooden deck is proven to be an excellent material for excluding the outside temperature differences effectively with its characteristic of low heat capacity and conduction. Also its surface temperature on the roof slab and the temperature difference during the day were both measured at low.
This paper is to grasp the use of impact-echo response signal induced from impacting an object for the assessment of compressive strength of construction materials nondestructively and to propose the test results. For this study, an impact device was devised and used for impacting an object by an initial rotating free falling impact and following repetitive impacts from the rebound action which eventually disappears. Concrete test specimens which had been mixed for different strengths were tested and the impact echo response signal was measured for each test specimen. The total sound signal energy which is assessed from integrating the impact-echo response signal was compared with the directly measured compressive strength for each specimen. The comparison showed that the total sound signal energy has a direct relationship with the directly measured compressive strength and the results clearly indicated that the compressive strength of construction materials can be assessed nondestructively using total sound signal energy which is assessed from integrating the impact-echo response signal induced from impacting an object.

Different countries around the world, using their traditional culture as a background, are promoting new changes and reformation in development and publicity method of cultural contents to promote national interests and to increase their competitiveness. Also, as the citizen's standard of living and quality of living goes up, various demands for the enjoyment of traditional culture goes up accordingly as well. As the cultural assets environment become more complicated and diverse, there is a need for systematic management and preservation plan. Keeping these viewpoints in mind, the geo-spatial information provision service using the web provides various forms of services such as satellite imagery, terrain, and 3D viewing, enabling the user to gain concrete spatial information on specific areas. The geo-spatial information using 3D modeling is done only in limited spaces because of construction expenses or difficulties in management and maintenance. In this thesis, I would like to propose Effective method for the GoogleEarth Uploading through simplification of 3D object for the publicity of traditional buildings and Cultural Resources and Tourist Attractions.
This is an experimental study to translate the Korean digital topographic maps into distributable information-hide objects, which are designed with object-oriented development's key features ; encapsulation, polymorphism, inheritance, In order to achieve this goal , the characteristics of the data mode and inter-relationships of digital topographic maps are investigated . As a result, it is revealed that the current Korean digital topographic maps, which is organized into so many individual layers of mixed spatial and attributed data, have to explicit and concrete hierarchies in spatial data model and data definition . Due to this limitation , data layer stage and object class stage are integrated. And ISCO(the is-computer -of relationships) mechanism is mainly used to develop the objects of digital topogrpahic maps, which is implemented with spatial primitive classes. the designed objects are coded with JAVA and then testified in web interface.
This paper is to provide the results of a pilot study of the usability and possibility of impact force response signal induced from impacting an object for the assessment of compressive strength of various materials (rock, concrete, wood, etc.) nondestructively. For this study, a device was devised for impacting an object and measuring the impact force. The impact was carried out by an initial rotating free falling impact and following repetitive impacts from the rebound action which eventually disappears. Wood and rock test specimens for different strengths were tested and an impact force response signal was measured for each test specimen. The total impact force signal energy which is assessed from integrating the impact force response signal was compared with the directly measured compressive strength for each specimen. The comparison showed that the total impact force signal energy has a direct relationship with the directly measured compressive strength and the results clearly indicated that the compressive strength of construction materials can be assessed nondestructively using total impact force signal energy which is assessed from integrating the impact force response signal induced from impacting an object.
