In this paper, we propose a method that can generate a computer-generated hologram (CGH) from the depth stream and color image outputs provided by an active sensor add-on camera. Distinguished from an existing holographic display system that uses a computer graphic model to generate CGH, this method utilizes a real camera image including a depth information for each object captured by the camera, as well as color information. This procedure consists of two steps that the acquirement of a depth-annotated image of real object, and generation of CGH according to the 3D information that is extracted from the depth cue. In addition, we display the generated CGH via a holographic display system. In experimental system we reconstruct an image made from CGH with a reflective LCD panel that had a pixel-pitch of 10.4um and resolution of 1408X1050.
Alignment of the mirrors composing a space telescope is an important process for obtaining high optical resolution and performance of the camera system. The alignment of mirrors using cube mirrors requires a relative coordinate mapping between the mirror and the cube mirror before optical-system integration. Therefore, to align the spacecraft camera mirrors, the relative coordinates of the vertex of each mirror and the corresponding cube mirror must be accurately measured. This paper proposes a new method for finding the vertex position of a primary mirror, by using an optical fiber and alignment segments of a computer-generated hologram (CGH). The measurement system is composed of an optical testing interferometer and a multimode optical fiber. We used two theodolites to measure the relative coordinates of the optical fiber located at the mirror vertex with respect to the cube mirror, and achieved a measurement precision of better than $25{\mu}m$.

In general, a 3D computer graphic model is being used to generate a digital hologram as theinput information because the 3D information of an object can be extracted from a 3D model, easily. The 3D information of a real scene can be extracted by using a depth camera. The 3D information, point cloud, corresponding to real scene is extracted from a taken image pair, a gray texture and a depth map, by a depth camera. The extracted point cloud is used to generate a digital hologram as input information. The digital hologram is generated by using the coherent holographic stereogram, which is a fast digital hologram generation algorithm based on segmentation. The generated digital hologram using the taken image pair by a depth camera is reconstructed by the Fresnel approximation. By this method, the digital hologram corresponding to a real scene or a real object could be generated by using the fast digital hologram generation algorithm. Furthermore, experimental results are satisfactory.
Most CGH programs use a model equation based on the diffraction angle. Therefore, if the diffraction angle is large enough, the image on a flat screen is distorted. To correct the distortion, we created the model equation from diffraction theory and verified it through experiment. We also suggest a design method that compensates for the distortion without changing the CGH program.
A fast hologram calculation approach is proposed to reduce computational load by avoiding the recalculation of redundancy information. In the proposed method, the hologram is divided into several sub-holograms that record and reconstruct different views of 3D objects. The sub-hologram is generated from its adjacent calculated sub-holograms by only adding the holograms of difference images between an adjacent pair of views. The repetitive information of two adjacent views is called angular redundancy. Therefore, avoiding the recalculation of this angular redundancy can considerably reduce the computational load. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method can reduce the computational time for the statue head, rabbits, and car to 4.73%, 6.67%, and 10.4%, respectively, for uniform intensity, and to 56.34%, 57.9%, and 66.24%, respectively, for 256 levels intensity, when compared to conventional methods.
The diffraction efficiencies of gratings are affected by the inner structure which is determined by modulation type. CGH (Computer generated Hologram) basically uses the principles of a diffraction grating. As like as the diffraction gratings the patterns recorded in the CGH are different according to modulation methods which result in the performances of the reconstructed images. In this paper, on this fact CGHs are recorded according to sinusoidal and rectangular modulation methods and the characteristics of reconstructed images are analyzed. Also the reconstruction performances of the amplitude and phase, phase-only and binary phase CGH are analyzed.

A computer-generated hologram (CGH) is a digitally calculated and recorded hologram in which the amplitude and phase information of an image is transmitted in free space. The CGH is in the form of a complex hologram, but it is converted into a phase-only hologram to display through a phase-only spatial light modulator (SLM). In this paper, in the process of including the amplitude information of an object in the phase information, when a technique that includes subsampling such as DPAC is used, we showed experimentally that the bandwidth of the phase-only hologram increases, and as a result, aliasing that was not present in the complex hologram can occur. In addition, it was experimentally shown that it is possible to generate a high-quality phase-only hologram by restricting the spatial frequency range even at a distance where the numerical reconstruction performance is degraded by aliasing.
The computer generated hologram (CGH) method is the technology which can generate a hologram by using only a personal computer (PC) commonly used. However, the CGH method requires a huge amount of calculational time for the 3D object with a super multi-light source or a high-definition hologram. Hence, some solutions are obviously necessary for reducing the computational complexity of a CGH algorithm or increasing the computing performance of hardware. In this paper, we propose a method which can generate a digital hologram of the 3D object with a super multi-light source using parallel distributed computing. The traditional methods has the limitation of improving CGH performance by using a single PC. However, the proposed method where a server PC efficiently uses the computing power of client PCs can quickly calculate the CGH method for 3D object with super multi-light source. In the experimental result, we verified that the proposed method can generate the digital hologram with 1,5361,536 resolution size of 3D object with 157,771 light source in 121 ms. In addition, in the proposed method, we verify that the proposed method can reduce generation time of a digital hologram in proportion to the number of client PCs.

We propose an efficient coding method of digital holograms using MCTF and standard compression tools for video. The hologram is generated by a computer-generated hologram (CGH) algorithm with both an object image and its depth information. The proposed coding consists of localization by segmenting a hologram, frequency transform using $64\times64$ segment size, 2-D discrete cosine transform DCT for extracting redundancy, motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF), segment scanning the segmented hologram to form a video sequence, and video coding, which uses H.264/AVC. The proposed algorithm illustrates that it has better properties for reconstruction, 10% higher compression rate than previous research in case of object.
