In this study, computational fluid dynamics was used to analyze the flow bias generated as air supplied by a fan passes through ducts, piping, and a coal separation screen. The flow bias of the air flow is mostly caused by the spatial characteristics of the fan volute and duct, and the internal baffle and the coal separation screen at the outlet cause strong pressure losses that dampen the flow bias. ANSYS CFX was used for computational fluid dynamics, and since the baffle and the coal separation screen are shaped like perforated plates with many small holes uniformly distributed, actual modeling for analysis was not possible. Therefore, the Porous Loss Model was applied. The evaluation of the flow bias was analyzed based on the velocity distribution of the Porous Loss Model at the outlet surface of the coal separation screen obtained from the computational fluid dynamics results.

This study focus on verification of the thermal efficiency of volumetric receiver with $5kW_{th}$ Dish-type solar thermal system. Spiral flow path shaped on receiver and working fluid(steam) flow along the this flow path. Porous material for radiation-thermal conversion used in former researches are substituted with the stainless steel wall installed along the spiral shaped flow path. Numerical analysis for the flow path and temperature distributions are carried out. Numerical results are compared with experimental data. Using the numerical model, the heat transfer characteristics of spiral type receiver for dish-type solar thermal systems are known and the thermal performance of the receiver can be estimated.
Accurate simulation of free-surface wave flows around a ship is very important for better hull-form design. In this paper, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code, termed SNUFOAM, which is based on the open source libraries, OpenFOAM, was developed to predict the wave patterns around a ship. Additional anti-diffusion source term for minimizing a numerical diffusion, which was caused by convection differencing scheme, was considered in the volume-fraction transport equation. The influence of the anti-diffusion source term was tested by applying it to free-surface wave flow around the Wigley model ship. In results, the band width of the volume fraction contours between 0.1 to 0.9 at the hull surface was narrowed by considering the anti-diffusion term.
The Mixer is apparatus that help precipitation or an inhomogeneous distribution of various phases to be mixed and that user makes necessary material mixing one or the other. Mainly the mixer which is used from chemical and food industry is very important system in engineering that mixes the material. The inside flow of the mixer under the actual states which put a basis in flow of the fluid is formed rotation of the impeller. The inside flow of impeller will be caused by various reasons change with shape of impeller, number of rotation, mixing material and flow pattern of free surface etc. Also mixer study depended in single-phase flow and experimental research. So the numerical analysis of flow mixing solid-fluid particle is simulated. It is become known, that the case where agitator inside working fluid includes the solid particle the sinkage reverse which the solid particle has decreases an agitation efficiency. From the research which it sees the hazard solid which examines the effect where the change of the sinkage territory which it follows agitation number of revolution and diameter of the particle goes mad to an agitator inside flow distribution - numerical analysis the inside flow distribution of liquid state with Eulerian Two-Phase Method.

Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, we investigated three-dimensional fluid flow field and particle movement with respect to the injected gas flow rate variation in typical cyclone separator system. The results of numerical investigation were deduced by coupling the analysis of fluid flow field with Wavier-stokes equation and the tracking of the particle trajectory with Langrangian approach. It was shown that the increasing of injected gas flow rate resulted in the increasing of pressure loss in the separator. This change of inner pressure had an effect on an aspect of the fluid flow in the separator. Particle movement was determined by fluid flow in the separator and was fully depended on a diameter of particles under the fixed flow rate. Increasing of injected gas flow rate was led to an increasing of the trace of particle, so the particles moved to the lower part of the separator. For this reason, the minimum diameters of the particles were decreased and increased the separation rate under the fixed particle diameter. In conclusion, the changes of injected gas flow rate have an important factor to the fluctuation of the fluid flow field and particle trajectory in the separator.
One of the most effective key factors to improve performance of automotive reciprocating compressor is the design of suction and discharge reed valves. Reed valves are also the major sources of compressor noise. Valve motion is highly coupled with refrigerant flow. In this study, a process of fluid-structure interaction analysis was developed to predict the cylinder inner flow and the dynamic behavior of valve simultaneously. Interface programs computational structural dynamics code. The full cycle simulations of compressor were performed using FSI analysis was alidated by comparing the simulation results with the experimental results.
In this study, aerodynamic analyses based on unsteady computational fluid dynamics (CFD) have been conducted for a 2-bladed vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) configuration. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ and SST $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. The experiment model of 2-bladed VAWT has been designed and tested in this study. Aerodynamic experiment of the present VAWT model are effectively conducted using the vehicle mounted testing system. The comparison result between the experiment and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis are presented in order to verify the accuracy of CFD modeling with different turbulent models.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) are commonly used techniques to evaluate the flow characteristics in the development stage of blood pumps. CFD technique allows rapid change to pump parameters to optimize the pump performance without having to construct a costly prototype model. These techniques are used in the construction of a bi-ventricular assist device (BVAD) which combines the functions of LVAD and RVAD in a compact unit. The BVAD construction consists of two separate chambers with similar impellers, volutes, inlet and output sections. To achieve the required flow characteristics of an average flow rate of 5 l/min and different pressure heads (left - 100mmHg and right - 20mmHg), the impellers were set at different rotating speeds. From the CFD results, a six-blade impeller design was adopted for the development of the BVAD. It was also observed that the fluid can flow smoothly through the pump with minimum shear stress and area of stagnation which are related to haemolysis and thrombosis. Based on the compatible Reynolds number the flow through the model was calculated for the left and the right pumps. As it was not possible to have both the left and right chambers in the experimental model, the left and right pumps were tested separately.

This study have goal with conceptual design for Offshore Structures of high pressure control valve for localization. Ball valve for development accomplished with flow analysis based on provision of ANSI B16.34, ANSI B16.10, ANSI B16.25 In order to localize the Offshore Structures high pressure control valve. Numerical simulation using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) in order to predict a mass flow rate and a flow coefficient form flow dynamic point of view. The working fluid assumed the glycerin (C3H8O3). The valve inlet and outlet setup a pressure boundary condition. The outlet pressure was fixed by atmospheric pressure and calculated until increasing 1bar to 10bar. CFD analysis used STAR-CCM+ which is commercial code and Governing equations were calculated by moving mesh which is rotated 90 degrees when ball valve operated opening and closing in 1 degree interval. The result shows change of mass flow rate according to opening and closing angle of valve, Flow decrease observed open valve that equal percentage flow paten which is general inclination of ball valve. Relation with flow and flow coefficient can not be proportional according to inlet pressure when compare with mass flow rate. Because flow coefficient have influence in flow and pressure difference. Namely, flow can be change even if it has same Cv value. The structural analysis used ANSYS which is a commercial code. Stress analysis result of internal pressure in valve showed lower than yield strength. This is expect to need more detail design and verification for stem and seat structure.

In this study, a computational analysis system has been developed in order to investigate flow-induced vibration(FIV) phenomenon for general stator-rotor cascade configurations. Relative movement of the rotor with respect to stator is reflected by modeling independent two computational domains. Fluid domains are modeled using the unstructured grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming methods. Unsteady, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with one equation Spalart-Allmaras and two-equation SST $k-\omega$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used flow computing the coupled governing equations of the fluid-structure interaction problem. Detailed FIV responses for different flow conditions are presented with respect to time and vibration characteristics are also physically investigated in the time domain.
