Development of a Mobile Robot System for Visual Inspection under Hot Environment

  • A mobile robot system is developed to inspect the condition of industrial facilities under hot environment. The mobile robot is equipped with internal and external heat insulating material, an internal cooling mechanism, two CCD cameras, wireless communication devices for both the control and image signals, and an embedded controller. The portable controller is equipped with two joysticks for both the mobile robot and the inspection CCD camera, an LCD monitor, and several buttons. The developed mobile robot travels on the internal floor in hot furnaces by operators' joystick operation, captures the images of facilities in the furnaces using a zoom CCD camera, and sends the images to the portable controller through wireless communication. The mobile robot can be operated without any problem under hot environment less than 400$^{\circ}C$ in 30 minutes. This kind of automatic inspection mobile robot can be helpful to prevent significant troubles of industrial facilities without danger of human beings under harmful environment.

Tracking Control of BLDC Motor Based on Disturbance Observer (외란 관측기 기반의 BLDC 전동기 추종제어)

  • When designing a controller, a motor can have robust and precise control performance only by considering the error of the motor's mathematical model and the disturbance acting on it. For robust and precise control, the mechanical and electrical disturbance observers were designed to estimate the disturbance, and applied to the speed controller and current controller designed as a nominal system. To confirm the control performance of the designed system, it is applied to a 120 [W] class BLDC motor, and the result of the speed tracking control overcomes disturbances, the steady state error converges to zero, and the asymptotically stable result can be confirmed.

  • Recently, the requirement of automation in the every fields of the industrial places has been increased remarkably. The shooting range systems in the Past have been designed on the basis of static circumstance. However, Various transformation of the shooting circumstances is required, since the target for real shooting situation not static. In this study we have established for targets Per one shooting line to realize the dynamic shooting circumstance, distributed shooting order into sequence and random ones. and accommodated the shooting time variably. And, we have done an efficient communication possible, using CAN(Controller Area Network) applied to a lot of the car and the building automation. The CAN can support real-time control efficiently by connecting multiple ECU(Electric Control Unit), since it provide the high data transfer rate and the stability of communication.

  • An LED driving and control circuit has been developed. The LED driver has a new PWM circuit for current control of LED columns with dimming, current and thermal control, and communication functions. The PWM circuit is composed of two ring oscillator and one counter which can be constructed using basic digital logic components. In addition, it has the functions of remote control mode such as ON, OFF, emergency and power saving modes by the serial communication. The PWM generator and control circuit have been designed and fabricated 0.35[${\mu}m$] Magnachip/Hynix digital IC fabrication process. The LED driving and control board using the developed chip is fabricated and tested successfully.

  • This research presents a DC-DC converter controller implemented with an analog memory. The structure of the converter will contribute to solve the stability problem unavoidable in a conventional closed loop converter. The analog memory will be used for realizing CAM(Contents Addressable Memory) which contains the output of the converter and the relevant duty ratio, respectively. The operation for reading in the memory is executed with an absolute differencing circuit and a WTA(Winner-Take-All) circuit suitable for a nearest-match function of the CAM. We also present a system architecture that enables highly-paralleled fast writing and quick readout as well as high integration density.

  • In this paper, we propose a design method for the position and speed controller, current control of a Brushless Direct Current(BLDC) motor using back-stepping design techniques. Further, to stabilize the whole system, and proposes a method for setting the appropriate gain control to improve the tracking performance. By applying the proposed controller to 120W BLDC motors were tested for the ability to follow the position, velocity and current reference. Since the simulation results of the steady state error is within 1%, we were able to show the usefulness of the tracking performance of the proposed controller.

  • Recently, as to changes in the paradigm of domestic manufacturing CNC industry, the application of advanced technologies in machine tools are actively being pursued. IT in responsible for controlling it is the most important part in the field of CNC. The biggest lack of the necessary expertise in the field of motion control in CNC is coding G-Code in setting adjust coordinate directly and convert it through expensive foreign s/w rather than using windows language in PC based controller. In this paper, We implemented G-Code convert program that is change various type of CAD data to G-Code data and CAD/CAM application program and developed exclusive motion controller which is to run a robot directly using changed data.

  • In this paper, a three phase inverter control methodology for photovoltaic generation system, which is a renewable energy source, was studied. The voltage source inverter type of the constant voltage supply type was selected as the three phase photovoltaic inverter, and SWPM method was selected as control technique. a small capacity three phase photovoltaic inverter system, which has a DSP with powerful high speed data processing ability as the main controller and a solar controller as current controller to supply a certain amount of current to charge the battery, was made and tested for SPWM function.

  • It is required a lot of strength in aquaculture, such as dragging up or moving heavy loads. So, a helper system like excavator at construction is need for fishermen. As most of HFMSC(Hydraulic Fishery Managing Small Crane)s are operated based on ON/OFF control, it can make sway the contents in the crane. In worse case, it could threaten workers. In this paper, we development the MICOM based controller which can reduce the swing sway. This paper describes the hydraulic characteristics, the design method of controller and the control algorithms. And, the proposed controller show the efficiency to carry out the experimental validation.

  • In this paper we propose a design procedure of loop-shaping two-degree-of-freedom H$\infty$ digital controller for sampled-data system. We extend the continuous time loop-shaping two-degree-of-freedom H$\infty$ control problem to sampled-data system. The configuration of generalized plant is modified for sampled-data system. And then using continuous lifting we obtain the digital controller. In the final stage of loop-shaping procedure the problem of absorbing weighting functions is discussed. We summarize this study to the design procedure and illustrate the application for an inverted pendulum on the cart.
