  • The construction of high-rise buildings is increased. The Vertical Member of tall buildings is inherently shortened and it causes several seriously problems such as tilting of slab, crack within partition wall, deformation of curtain wall. This also affects structural stability by inducing unexpected stress to the structural members such as outrigger. In this study, the column shortening according to revised field information and to compare the analysis results the actual field measurement. Pusan The $\#$, a 51-story apartment building which is currently under construction was chosen for the case study.

  • This study is to propose a modified equivalent frame method under lateral loading. ACI 318-02 allows the equivalent frame method to conduct slab analysis subjected to lateral loads. However, current method can not predict the behavior of the slabs particularly under lateral loading because the equivalent frame method in the ACI 318 has been developed against gravity loads. This study provides more precise model for the analysis of the flat plate slabs under lateral loading. The model reflect the force transfer mechanism of slabs, column and torsional member more accurately than the existing model. The accuracy of this model is verified by compared with finite element method analysis results.

  • This study presents a methods on the construction of integrated system for the purpose of automation of design plans, calculation of quantity of materials and estimation by abstracting information on building materials which is produced on the course of three dimension modeling by using computer. Therefore, an object oriented methodology is introduced to compose design informations in three dimension, space for unifying building informations, and expressing properties of building factors and materials, and to construct a database for computers to recognize architecture informations. An object indicates a conceptual individual existing in real world or existence of individual and necessity in composing a building could be called as objects such as column, wall, beam, slab, door and window and these contain materiality and immateriality. It is systemized to which properties of these building's objects are installed by the user of computer and by API(Application Programming Interface), chosen informations automatically converse to each unit work such as design plan structure plan, calculation of amount of materials, etc.

  • When a load such as the mechanical load, the wind load, and the seismic load causing a vibration, acts on the body of the 3-D frameworks with slab, it is required to consider the dynamic behavior of elastic soil as well as that of 3-D structure in the structural analysis. Thus, this study presents the analysis of dynamic behavior using finite element method that is formulated by using a model of the 3-D structure. For the idealization of the actual structure closely into a geometric shape, plate is subdivided into 4-node plate element with the flexibility, beam-column is subdivided into 2-node beam element, and elastic soil is subdivided into 8-node brick element.

  • The definition of the Dual system is that the total seismic force resistance is to be provided by the combination of the moment frame and the shear walls or braced frames in proportion to their stiffness and the moment frame shall be capable of resisting at least 25% of the design force in Korean Building Code 2005 (KBC 2005). But, the definition of moment frame is ambiguous whether the moment frame include the imaginary columns in the shear wall (Case I) or include only the columns outside the shear wall (Case II). 60-story RC building was designed as dual system for Case I and Case II, and the required strength and reinforcement are compared. Moment and axial capacity of the shear wall of Case II decreased about 5% due to the absence of the column in the shear wall. The requirement of upper and bottom reinforcement of slab in Case II increased 13% and 40%, respectively, when compared to those of Case I. The required longitudinal reinforcement in columns for Case II is about 1.5 times larger than that of Case I.

  • The structural work is the main process of building construction which influence on the time, cost, safety and quality. The form work is one of the main process which has from 20 to 30 percentage of structural work. Especially the form work for beams is complex and need more manpower compared with form work for column or slab. When the existing forms such as plywood form, steel framed wooden form and aluminum form, is used for form work of beam, it would result in the cost overrun caused by needs of lots of manpower and resources. Therefore, the aim of this study is analysis of the requirement for development of SMART beam form. The result of this study shall be used for the development of SMART form work system.

  • The Case Study prepared by PCPA and Lift Group will identify a growing development problem in urban areas; high value project sites that are restrictive in size or "tight" are underutilized and underdeveloped. In an effort to remedy this problem, our team will evaluate a design program through the lens of both conventional construction and Core Cantilever Construction. It is also important to differentiate between Core Cantilever construction and the plagued "Lift Slab" construction method as they may be confused, due to the top down construction sequence. This article will demonstrate that constraints inherent to conventional construction techniques prohibit economically viable development of these project sites, while Core Cantilever construction methods increase the projects value by reducing construction timelines and increasing the useable floor area.

  • Top-Down construction method is a method of connecting a beam to a column and using a strut to support earth retaining walls. This method has the advantage of reducing the process of underground construction by reducing the work of installation. Recently, there are a lot of cases of damage and defect occurring in H-beam backfill applied to Top-Down construction method and the concrete slab supporting H-beam backfill. For this, appropriate methods were suggested through finite element analysis of the position and installation form of the H-beam backfill.

  • AC] 318-H9 Recommended that when the specified compressive strength of concrete in a column is greater than 1. 4 times that specified for a floor system, top surface of the colurrm concrete shall extend 2ftU;OOrrun) into the slab from the face of colUlml to avoid unexpected brittle failure. The purpose of this investigation is to suggest the basic information for the structural safety, The major variables are com preSSlve strength of concrete, shear confinement ratio, and loading types. The test results showed that the load capaCIty of speCImen subjected to monotOI1lC loading had more than that of specimen subjected to one way cyclic loading. The failure modes of specimens under cyclic loading were concentrated at 5-20cm apart region from beam-column joint face and ductility index are increased with increasing of shear confinement ratio.
