  • In this paper, vibration characteristics in terms of the airfoil cross-sectional shape was examined by using the EDISON co-rotational plane beam-transient analysis. Assuming aircraft wing as a cantilevered beam with a constant cross-sectional shape, natural frequencies of each airfoil shape was compared while varying airfoil maximum thickness and maximum camber length, using Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT). When the airfoil maximum thickness was varied, natural frequency showed peak value at 18% chord, and decreased afterwards. When the airfoil maximum camber length was varied, natural frequency either increased or decreased at 6% chord, while at 8% the natural frequency showed its maximum. Applying such trends to B-737 wing airfoil, an improved B-737_mod airfoil shape was obtained with regard to the vibration characteristics.

  • Based on the collisional time correlation function (CTCF) formalism, Kim and Micha derived a simple expression which gives nascent rotational state distribution of molecules after collision with fast atoms.32 The expression is valid when the collision time is short and the collision is impulsive in nature. This expression has been applied to analyze the experimentally measured, state resolved rotational distribution of CO2 in various types of vibrational levels, i.e., (0001), (0111), (0002), and (1000/0200). The theoretical distributions obtained from this CTCF based expression can represent the experimentally measured rotational distributions remarkably well, and have been found to be much superior to those obtained from other simple theories such as Boltzmann distribution, prior distribution, breathing ellipsoid model, and phase space statistical calculation.

  • The electronic structure, conformational preferences, and rotational barriers have been studied for transition metal indenyl allyl complexes by means of extended Huckel calculations. After geometrical optimization the exo conformation of allyl moiety is favored over the endo. The rotational barrier of indenyl ring in (Indenyl)Mo(CO)_2(Allyl)$ is computed to be 3.8 kcal/mol. Population analysis is applied to account for the conformational preferences and rotational barriers. A series of substituted allyl complexes has been also optimized. It shows steric hindrance plays a crucial role in setting the allyl orientation.

  • The paper presents the method and apparatus for conformal photoresist spray coating on the 3D structured substrate. The system consists of a high-temperature-rotational chuck, ultrasonic spray nozzle module, angle control module and nozzle moving module. The coating uniformity is acquired by controlling the moving speed of the ultrasonic spray nozzle across the substrate which is rotated constantly. To coat the photoresist conformally the spray angle of the nozzle and the temperature of the substrate are controlled during spray coating. The rotational chuck can be heated up by hot air or $N_2$. The photoresist (AZ1512) has been coated on the 3D structured wafer by spray coating system and the characteristics have been evaluated.

  • In this paper, Timoshenko and Euler-Bernoulli beam theories(EB-beam) are used, and Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT) analysis is then employed to extract their natural frequencies using both analytical approach and Co-rotational plane beam(CR-beam) EDISON program. EB-beam is used to analyze a spring-mass system with a single degree of freedom. Sinusoidal force with various frequencies and constant magnitude are applied to tip of each beam. After the oscillatory tip response is observed in EB-beam, it decreases and finally converges to the so-called 'steady-state.' The decreasing rate of the tip deflection with respect to time is reduced when the forcing frequency is increased. Although the tip deflection is found to be independent of the excitation frequency, it turns out that time to reach the steady state response is dependent on the forcing frequency.

  • An experimental study was performed to develop the rotational fuel injection system of the micro turbojet engine. In this system, fuel is sprayed by centrifugal forces of engine shaft. The test rig was designed and manufactured to get droplet information on combustion space. This experimental apparatus consist of a high speed rotational device(Air-Spindle), fuel feeder, rotational fuel injector and acrylic case. To understand spray characteristics, spray droplet size, velocity and distribution were measured by PDPA (Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) and spray was visualized by using Nd-Yag laser-based flash photography. From the test results, the length of liquid column from injection orifice is controlled by the rotational speeds and Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD) is decreased with rotational speed. Also, Sauter Mean Diameter is increased as increasing mass flow rate at same rotational speeds.

  • The grinding process is replacing lapping and etching process because significant cost savings and performance improvemnets is possible. This paper presents the experimental results of wafer grinding. A three-variable two-level full factorial design was employed to reveal the main effects as well as the interaction effects of three process parameters such as wheel rotational speed, chuck table rotational speed and feed rate on TTV and STIR of wafers. The chuck table rotaional speed was a significant factor and the interaction effects was significant. The ground wafer shape was affected by surface shape of chuck table.

  • The amorphous Co-based magnetic films have a large saturation flux density, a low coercive force, and a zero magnetostriction constant. Therefore, they have been studied for application to magnetic recoding heads and micro magnetic devices. However, it was found that the magnetic anisotropy was changed for each film fabrication processes. In this study, we investigated how to control the anisotropy of sputtered amorphous $Co_{89}Nb{8.5}Zr{2.5}$ films. After deposition, the rotational field annealing ant the uniaxial field annealing were performed under the magnetic field of 1.5 kOe. the annealing was done at the temperature range from 400 to $600^{\circ}C$ for one hour. As-deposited amorphous $Co_{89}Nb{8.5}Zr{2.5}$ thin film had saturation magnetization ($4\piM_5$) of 0.8 T, coercive force($_IH_C$) of 1.5 Oe, and anisotropy field($H_k$) of 11 Oe. The amorphous $Co_{89}Nb{8.5}Zr{2.5}$ thin films annealed by rotational field annealing at $500^{\circ}C$ for one hour was found to be isotropy, and $4\piM_5$ of 0.9 T was obtained from these films, Also, the magnetic anisotropy of as-deposited films could be controlled by uniaxial field annealing at $400^{\circ}C$ for one hour. Anisotropy field($H_k$) of 17 Oe and $4\piM_5$ of 1.0 T were obtained by this method.

  • In this paper, the behaviour of a cantilevered beam was predicted to examine the difference between linear and non-linear static, dynamic analysis for a structure by using CR nonlinear formulation. Then, external transverse static and dynamic loads were applied at the free tip of the beam. Classical theories were used for the present linear analysis and co-rotational dynamic FEM program was used for the present nonlinear analysis. In the static analysis, effects of the load for the beam deflection were observed in both linear and nonlinear analysis. Then, normalized displacement at the tip of the beam was predicted for different frequency ratio and a significant difference was obtained in the vicinity of the resonant frequency. In addition, effects of frequency and time for the beam deflection were investigated to find the frequency delay.
