The purposes of this study were to identify shopper types by analyzing clothing shopping orientations and to compare consumer characteristics such as store evaluative criteria, perceived risks in clothing purchase, and demographic characteristics among different shopper types. A questionnaire was developed to measure clothing shopping orientations, store evaluative criteria, perceived risks in clothing purchase, and demographic characteristics. The questionnaire was administered to 453 female adults during the fall of 1993. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Clothing shopping orientations were factor analyzed resulting six factors, such as Recreational Shopping, Economic Shopping, Store/Brand Loyalty, Careful Shopping, In- dependent Shopping, and Self-confidence in Clothing Shopping factors. 2. According to the factor scores of recreational shopping factor and economic shopping factor, consumers were segmented into four shopper types: Low Shopping-involved Shopper, High Shopping-involved Shopper, Recreational Shopper, and Economic Shopper. Consumer characteristics such as store evaluative criteria, perceived risks in clothing purchase, and demographic characteristics were significantly different among shopper types.

The purpose of this study was 1) to investigate the effect of male clothing type and facial attractiveness on the subjects' inferences of occupation for the wearers, 2) to investigate the effect of male clothing type on the inferences of occupational characteristics. The stimuli were composed of 24 color photographs which were made of 6 types of clothing and 18 wearers who were made of 3 levels of facial attractiveness in combination with 6 types of clothing. The subjects were 288 male and 288 female university students. The subjects chose an occupation among 19 occupations presented for 6 types of clothing and the wearers. Also the subjects' inferences of occupational characteristics for the clothing were measured by semantic\ulcornerdiffenential scales. The results were as follows: 1) As a whole, the infered occupation for each of the clothing types was consistent with the expected occupations in this study. "Therefore there were stereotypes about male clothing type. At the same time, the halo effect of facial attractiveness appeared when subjects infered wearer's occupation. 2) The subjects' responses to the semantic-differential scales about 6 types of clothing were factor analyzed to identify the underlying constructs of occupational characteristics. At the result, 4 factors were emerged. The first factor was interpreted to Apperance/ Ability, the second, Indi~iduality, the third, Naivety, and the fourth, Dominancy. 3) The male clothing type influenced on the 3 factors except the Dominancy factor.nancy factor.

The purposes of this study were to identify buyers' need criteria on product/vendor selection criteria of apparel buyers in department store and to investigate the relatonships among buyers' need criteria, information search behavior, types of buying task and influential factors on buying behavior of buyers(individual characteristics, organizational characteristics, and customer perception characteristics). A questionnaire was developed to measure research subjects based on theoretical study empirically. The questionnaire was administered to 159 apparel buyers of 11 department stores in Seoul. The results of empirical studies were summarized as follows. 1. The need criteria of buyers on product/vendor selection criteria were classified into five types : vendor characteristics; quality characteristics; price characteristics; brand characteristics; product characteristics and the need criteria differed significantly by influencing factors on buying behavior of buyers. 2. There were no relationships between information types and amounts of information search but information types differed significantly by need criteria and individual characteristics 3. Types of buying task were significantly different according to need criteria of buyers and organizational characteristics. 4. Buying policy of department store was significantly different according to organizational characteristics.

The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics on Department stores consumers and to compare consumer characteristics among shopper types and department store types. For this purpose an ethnographic approach which is a kind of qualitative analysis was performed first. And then The data were collected from 600 female consumers over twenties and residing in Pusan Finally 499 data were used for the statistical analysis. 1. The results of clothing shopping orientations study were as follows : As a result of qualitative analysis those who patronize department stores were recreational/convenience shoppers. From quantitative analysis clothing shopping orientations were factor analyzed. which resulted in eight factors ; Recreational Shopping Convenience Shopping. Sensibility Seeking Well-Known Brand Preference Fashion Seeking Economic Shopping Sel-confidence in clothing shopping Convenient store shopping. 2. The results of store choice criteria study were as follows: As a result of concentrative observation eight store choice criteria dimensions were categorized : Service Store Atmosphere Promotion/Facilities Product Convenience Advertisement VMD Traffic/Location Convenience. From quantitative analysis eight store choice criteria factors emerged; Service Store Atmosphere Promotion/Facilities Assortment Shopping Convenience Advertisement VMD Traffic/Location Convenience. 3. According to the factor scores of recreational shopping and Convenience shopping consumers were segmented into four shopper types ; High Shopping-involved Shopper Recreational Shopper Convenience Shopper and Low Shopping-involved Shopper. Department types were divided into a large enterprise department stores and local department stores. Consumer characteristics such as clothing shopping orientations store choice criteria purchase behavior variables and demographic variables were significantly different in shopper types and department store types were significantly different in clothing shopping orientations and tore choice criteria.

According to the literatures of marketing, psychology, and other related areas, the situational influences on consumers' decision-making process have been significant, thus increased explanatory power of consume behavior when introduced in a research as one of the independent variables. Considering the characteristics of clothing as a consumer goods, situational influences on clothing purchase behavior were expected to be significant. As the theoretical backgrounds of situational influences on clothing purchase behavior, this study was to propose the definition of sitution in Clothing & Textiles department, and to suggest the types of situational variables affecting clothing purchase process in consideration of the results of consumer behavior research and the research related to clothing. The results of this study suggested that the definition of situation, subjective situation or objective situation, should be adjusted to the purpose of research, and that the types of situations affecting clothing purchase process might be defined into three types; wearing situation, communication situation, and purchasing situation. It was also suggested that the empirical studies would be necessary to verify the results, and the conceptual framework for the types of situations and the personality characteristics related to the clothing purchase situation should be identified.
This study aims to analyze the variations in online clothing purchasing patterns based on demographic attributes and purchasing behavior. The survey subjects comprised individuals in their 10s to 50s who had prior experience with online shopping. The survey was conducted in Gyungnam from May to June 2022. A total of 397 questionnaires were analyzed using the χ2-test statistical method. The analysis of clothing purchase type based on demographic characteristics revealed differences in terms of gender, marital status, age, monthly income, and occupation. Notably, when analyzed by demographic characteristics and clothing purchase types, monthly online purchase frequency displayed significant differences in marital status, age, and occupation. Similarly, monthly purchase amounts through online platforms exhibited significant variations based on marital status, age, monthly income, and occupation. The online fashion platforms, when examined in relation to demographic characteristics and purchase types, showed significant differences across all variables. Clothing purchases by consumers seeking individuality and differentiation exhibited significant differences in age, occupation, and purchase types. Furthermore, the reasons for choosing online platforms for clothing purchases varied significantly based on age and occupation. These findings indicate diverse purchasing behaviors on online platforms influenced by demographic characteristics. These findings can be valuable for effectively segmenting the online fashion market.
The purpose of this study was to create a database of information on fabric factors(i.e., fabric insulation, fabric weight, clothing weight, fabric thickness, air permeability, and water vapor resistance) of clothing used for insulations, to compare them according to clothing types, and to estimate thermal resistance of clothing using these factors. A total of 25 kinds of clothing were selected(9 types for suits, 6 types of jacket, 5 types for shirts, and 5 types for trousers). The results of this study were as follows; Thermal insulation of clothing showed the highest positive correlation(0.85, p>0.01) with thermal insulation of fabric and very high positive correlation with water vapor resistance, fabric thickness, fabric weight, and clothing weight, respectively, 0.77, 0.77, 0.73, 0.71(p>0.01). Fabric weight of jacket was higher than that of shirts and trousers. Air permeability of shirts was the highest of clothing types. Clothing insulation of jacket was higher than that of shirts and trousers and its fabric insulation was also the highest of clothing types. Regression analysis showed that fabric thickness, water vapor resistance, and fabric weight would be useful factors for estimating the thermal resistance of clothing.
This study examined consumer characteristics and consumers' clothing purchase behavior for each of the four fashion brand types. The ultimate purpose of this study is to suggest the most effective marketing strategy for competitive advantage in fashion brand strategy. The subjects selected for the final analysis are 412 women of age 20 thru 34 in Seoul and areas. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, factor analysis, chi-square test, ANOVA, duncan test. The results of our study indicate that it is possible to meaningfully describe and contrast four brand types based on consumer's characteristics and purchase behavior. 1. The clothing brand is classified into four types : Designer brand 10.9%, National brand 27.2%, Middle-price brand 36.2%, Low-price brand 25.7%. 2. There are significant diferences according to four brand types in the demographic traits such as age education and income the average monthly spending on clothing. 3. There are an important discrimination according to tow brand types in their clothing purchase behavior such as information usage, clothing choice criterion and brand choice motivation. 4. Based on the result of this analysis and the review of literature, the brand strategy is suggested that characteristic and products development is efficient way to each brand consumers' purchase need. Therefore each brand which pursue an added value must frame marketing strategy on the basis of the target consumers' sensitivity characteristic according to the fashion consciousness.
This paper is to investigate and analyze the clothing colors fitted for personal color types and to help consumers express individual characteristics by clothing colors suitable for themselves. The comparison of sixty three clothing colors with three personal color types. and investigation and analysis of the best clothing colors of each type have led to the following results. Those belong to warm Personal Color Type don't have a variety of choices for clothing colors. so they should be careful of choosing clothing colors. They will do well to choose dark tone colors for their clothing. Those of Cold Personal color Type have a wide range of choices for clothing colors. They have an advantage of expressing themselves in various ways. Neutrals, Blue and Yellow have been found to go well with them. Those of Mixed Personal Type are advised to wear bright and pale tone colors such as Purple, Green, and Red. It will be desirable that the choice of clothing colors should conform to each personal color for the tones of clothing colors should conform to each personal color for the tones of clothing colors make difference according to personal color types.

The main objective of this study was to find out the relationship between life style types and clothing evaluatie criteriria. Social wear was selected according to the defined time, place, and occasion's. The questionnaire was administered to 640 housewives during the fall of 1988. The research problems were as follows: 1. To segment the target according to their life styles, and to profile the characteristics of the categorized life style types. 2. To determine the differences in the clothing evaluatie criteria among the various life style types. The result were as follows: 1. Five life style types were defined. They were the Achievement oriented type, the Active- leisure type, the Material oriented type, Conservative-frugal type, and the Passive-stagnant type. 2. The differences in consumer preferences at the element level evaluative criteria including color, fiber content, fabric construction, fabric design, and classes of clothes among the five life style types were also analyzed revealing partial significance.
