  • In the past, the results of window cleaning work have been judged subjective and complaints about cleaning results are being raised. In this study, we tried to quantify the evaluation of the cleaning result. For the quantification of the evaluation, a colorimeter was selected and the basic experiment was carried out. In addition, this study examined the use of standard dust powder for artificial production of contaminants in glasses. Further evaluation and analysis will be carried out to quantify the evaluation criteria of the cleaning results.

  • 충북 단양에 위치한 조일 광산에서 채취한 구리와 아연으로 오염된 광미 (광산 폐기물로서 금속 추출 후 남은 찌꺼기)를 효율적으로 처리하기 위하여 생물학적 용출기법(bioleaching)의 효율 증진에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 기본 배지 조성(9K medium) 중 미생물의 성장 및 증식, 용출 효율에 영향을 미치는 인자인 에너지원, 인, 질소원의 농도를 변화시키며 배지 조성에 따른 중금속의 용출 효율을 관찰하였다. 그 결과 인 농도 변화는 인을 첨가하지 않았을 때, 아연과 구리의 용출 효율이 각각 98.8%와 47.5%로 나타났고, 질소원은 45mM 농도로 주입하였을 때 아연, 구리 각각 85%와 46.4%의 용출 효율을 보였다. 에너지원 변화에 서는 아연의 경우 에너지원을 첨가하지 않았을 때 93%의 용출 효율을 나타냈고, 구리의 경우는 160mM 첨가했을 때 46.4%로 가장 높은 용출 효율을 나타냈다.

  • 충북 단양에 위치한 조일 광산에서 채취한 구리와 아연으로 오염된 광미(광산 폐기물로서 금속 추출 후 남은 찌꺼기)를 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 생물학적 용출기법(bioleaching) 에서 기본 배지 조성(9K medium)을 변화시켜 미생물의 표면 특성을 측정하고 미생물 표면 특성이 용출 효율에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 인을 첨가하지 않았을 때 소수성 값은 62.5%, 질소원 농도가 45mM일 때의 소수성 값은 66.7%로 미생물 표면 특성이 가장 소수성인 특성을 가지고 있었으며, 구리와 아연의 용출 효율도 가장 높게 나타나는 상관 관계를 나타냈다. 또한 광미에 부착된 미생물의 양을 측정해 본 결과, 미생물 표면 특성이 소수성일수록 광미에 부착된 미생물의 양도 많다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 디젤로 오염된 토양을 효율적으로 정화하기 위해, 알칼리제와 과산화수소를 이용하는 새로운 방식의 토양세척기법에 대하여 일련의 회분식 실험을 통하여 최적의 운전조건을 검토하고자 하였다. 알칼리제인 NaOH를 이용하여 세척수의 pH를 상승시켜, 강알칼리 상태에서 과산화수소를 주입하면 미세기포가 발생되며, 이 미세기포에 의해 토양에 흡착되어 있는 유류 오염물질이 효과적으로 탈착.부상된다. #60(0.25mm) 이하의 자연토양을 6,500 mg TPH/kg dry soil로 오염시켜 사용하였으며, 세척수의 pH, 진탕비(토양 중량 : 세척용액 부피), 과산화수소 주입량, 세척시간에 의한 영향을 살펴보았다. 세척수의 pH는 12, 진탕비는 1:5, 과산화수소 주입량은 1%, 세척시간은 1시간으로 적용한 결과 최대효율(60%)을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we developed a control algorithm to maximize the cleaning performance and the cleaning efficiency of the underwater cleaning robot platform which has been developed for various cistern environment in the industrial field. Through these research and development, we have presented the operation and application of underwater cleaning robots that have been developed, and contributed to commercialization. Finally, this results were verified the effectiveness through actual field experiments.

  • This paper describes design features of a cleaning robot for use in a radioactive zone of the Isolation room of the Irradiated Material Examination Facility (IMEF) at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). This cleaning robot is intended to completely eliminate human interaction with hazardous radioactive contaminants. The clean ing robot that is operated either by manual mode or by autonomous mode is designed to be capable of cleaning the isolation room´s floor surface and collecting dry nuclear fuel debris and other radioactive waste placed on the floor. Microstructure analysis of 8 ㎛ electrolytic Cu foil in plane view using EBSD and TEM

  • With the lightening of the mobile devices, thinning of electrolytic copper foil, which is mainly used as an anode collection of lithium secondary batteries, is needed. As the copper foil becomes ultrathin, mechanical properties such as deterioration of elongation rate and tear phenomenon are occurring, which is closely related to microstructure. However, there is a problem that it is not easy to prepare and observe specimens in the analysis of the microstructure of ultrathin copper foil. In this study, electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) specimens were fabricated using only mechanical polishing to analyze the microstructure of 8 ㎛ thick electrolytic copper foil in plane view. In addition, EBSD maps and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images were compared and analyzed to find the optimal cleanup technique for properly correcting errors in EBSD maps.

  • The stabilization and reclamation of old disposal sites is becoming more important as significant numbers of disposal sites are closed and abandoned. This technical paper covers an overview of the key issues and methodologies for stabilizing and constructing facilities on old landfills. The slide portion of this presentation also include photographs showing actual construction activities. The key issues that are prevalent in remediating and closing old landfills are : correcting the stormwater flow, leachate breakout, constructing cover caps, controlling landfill gas migration and odors, cleanup groundwater and stabilizing side slopes. Some key techniques for constructing facilities on old landfills include: use of piling, installation of active landfill gas systems, providing LFG barriers under buildings, using utilidors and flexible utility interfaces and designing for site settlement. This Paper provides proven conceptual methods for solving these problems.

Key Methodologies to Effective Site-specific Accessment in Contaminated Soils : A Review (오염토양의 효과적 현장조사에 대한 주요 방법론의 검토)

  • For sites to be investigated, the results of such an investigation can be used in determining foals for cleanup, quantifying risks, determining acceptable and unacceptable risk, and developing cleanup plans t hat do not cause unnecessary delays in the redevelopment and reuse of the property. To do this, it is essential that an appropriately detailed study of the site be performed to identify the cause, nature, and extent of contamination and the possible threats to the environment or to any people living or working nearby through the analysis of samples of soil and soil gas, groundwater, surface water, and sediment. The migration pathways of contaminants also are examined during this phase. Key aspects of cost-effective site assessment to help standardize and accelerate the evaluation of contaminated soils at sites are to provide a simple step-by-step methodology for environmental science/engineering professionals to calculate risk-based, site-specific soil levels for contaminants in soil. Its use may significantly reduce the time it takes to complete soil investigations and cleanup actions at some sites, as well as improve the consistency of these actions across the nation. To achieve the effective site assessment, it requires the criteria for choosing the type of standard and setting the magnitude of the standard come from different sources, depending on many factors including the nature of the contamination. A general scheme for site-specific assessment consists of sequential Phase I, II, and III, which is defined by workplan and soil screening levels. Phase I are conducted to identify and confirm a site's recognized environmental conditions resulting from past actions. If a Phase 1 identifies potential hazardous substances, a Phase II is usually conducted to confirm the absence, or presence and extent, of contamination. Phase II involve the collection and analysis of samples. And Phase III is to remediate the contaminated soils determined by Phase I and Phase II. However, important factors in determining whether a assessment standard is site-specific and suitable are (1) the spatial extent of the sampling and the size of the sample area; (2) the number of samples taken: (3) the strategy of taking samples: and (4) the way the data are analyzed. Although selected methods are recommended, application of quantitative methods is directed by users having prior training or experience for the dynamic site investigation process.

Analysis of all PCB Congeners in Air Samples by HRGC/HRMS (대기 시료 중 PCBs 전 이성체 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to describe analysis method of 209 PCB congeners in ambient air samples. The samples were collected by high volume air sampler in Chonju city. Extracted samples were cleaned by silicagel cleanup modified with sulfuric acid and activated carbon cleanup processing. The cleaned samples were analyzed by high resolution gas chromatography and high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS) with DB-5 column (60 m, 0.25 mm i.d., 0.25 m film thickness) to analyze the 209 kinds of PCB congeners. PCBs levels of air samples were detected to the range between 0.003 and $0.163pg-TEQ/m^3$. The PCBs congener of 162 kinds were detected in samples analysed using DB-5 column and 37 kinds peaks were overlapped with congeners more than one. It is difficult to isolate PCB 118/106 and PCB 105/127 in coplanar PCB, so it is likely to overestimate the concentration.. The distribution of coplanar-PCB congeners in origin source samples (Kanechlor and exhaust gas from incinerator) was compared with that in air samples, and PCB 81, PCB 77, PCB 126, and PCB 169 were higher in incinerator samples.
