The research results are as follows: First, the educational contents on child's human rights in activity type and area showed high frequency in the order of large and small group activity, child selected play activity, and outdoor activity, and among them, right to an education and right to play showed the highest frequency. Second, among the five categories, the area that conducts educational contents on child's human rights was the social relation category, and the area that showed the highest participation was the educational contents on human rights. On the other hand, the areas that were treated the least were physical activity and health. Third, the topic that treated the educational contents related with child's human rights was 'spring, summer, fall, winter,' and 'my family and I' treated educational contents on child's human rights in the lowest frequency. Also, whereas the right to education and right to play showed the highest frequency of educational contents on child's human rights among entire life themes, the educational contents on child's human rights of abuse and neglect(violence) were not treated at all in the entire life themes. Through the results of this study, it will be helpful in planning and deploying activities related with the child's human rights harmoniously, and intends to provide important basic data in organizing activities of human rights program linked with the elementary school. Furthermore, this study intended to provide basic information for developing a program of systematic child's human rights education for children in addition to the curriculum at a national level.

  • The "Child Care and Education Policy(CCEP)" is important because it is responsible for providing 'care and education service' to young children in their 'most sensitive period' of human development. In reality, however, children's rights can only be sanctioned by adults and their rights are recognized at the level of abstraction. This study analyzes the 'Child Edu-care Act(CEA)' first enacted in 1991 from the 'perspective of children's rights', especially in terms of the rights of infants and preschoolers. In order to assess the CEA's "children's rights guarantee level", this study developed a number of standards based on the "UN Convention on the Rights of the Child(CRC)" and other documents. The results revealed that "children's rights guarantee level" was assessed against 4 categories ('Right to Survival and Development', 'Right to Welfare', 'Right to Education', and 'Right to Proper Care'), and the CEA(1991) was found to have a high guarantee level although it was enacted before Korea's ratification of the CRC. The results of this study can serve as a useful reference point for detailing children's rights and suggesting regulation standards for the CCEP.

The results of this study were as follows: First, the variables influencing children's human rights sensitivity were school life experience, grade, the degree to which adolescents think they are respected in deciding family issues, gender, experiences of teacher's swear words, experiences of being neglected, and experiences of being bullied at school. Second, the variables influencing children's perception of human rights were gender, experiences of parents' swear words, school life experience, the degree to which adolescents think they are respected in deciding family issues, and father's educational achievements. • Based on the relationship between parental attitudes, human rights awareness, and self-esteem, this study examines the effects of parental attitudes that respect children's decision-making on human rights consciousness, targeting elementary school students (grades 4-6). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the relationship between parental attitudes and human rights awareness is mediated. As a result of this study, it was found that there is a positive correlation in the relationship between parental attitude, human rights awareness, and self-esteem respecting children's decision-making. In addition, it was found that self-esteem mediates the relationship between parental attitude and human rights awareness that respects children's decision-making. Therefore, in this study, the relationship between parenting attitudes and human rights consciousness, which respects children's decision-making, is to be examined in detail through self-esteem. Through this, the role of parents who respect children's decision-making and participation is necessary for the basic rights of children, and it suggests the importance of the mediating role of self-esteem in raising human rights awareness.

  • As child neglect and abuse have emerged as social problems deteriorating human rights of children, this study aimed to examine the impacts of child neglect and abuse at community children centers on consciousness of human rights. In addition, this study examined whether self-esteem mediated the relationship between child neglect and abuse and consciousness of human rights. From the community children center panel data, 630 fifth-year children at elementary schools were included as a sample. Key findings of structural equation modeling can be summarized as follows: (1) Child neglect and abuse were found to have negative impacts on children's self-esteem and consciousness of human rights, respectively; (2) self-esteem was positively related to consciousness; (3) self-esteem partially mediated the relationship between child neglect and consciousness; (4) the impact of child abuse on consciousness of human rights was found to be perfectly mediated by self-esteem. We conclude by suggesting policy and practice implications to promote human right-friendly environments.

  • Over the past quarter century, research on physical punishment has proliferated. Almost without exception, these studies have identified physical punishment as a risk factor in children's behavioral, emotional, cognitive and brain development. At the same time, the United Nations has established that physical punishment constitutes a breach of children's basic human rights to protection and dignity. Together, research findings and human rights standards have propelled profound global change. To date, 51 countries have prohibited all physical punishment of children. In this article, we review the literature on physical punishment within its historical context, and provide recommendations for health professionals working with families.

  • It was in the 1990s that the human rights of persons with disabilities began to be discussed in our society. Based on the Declaration on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1975, the Charter on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted on December 8, 1988. The human rights of persons with disabilities explains the important meaning of not being discriminated against just because they are persons with disabilities, the basics of human rights that all human beings have. The human rights of persons with disabilities are universal values, a basic right, and a declaration to protect the socially disadvantaged. Human rights are an important ideology that deals with the dignity and worth of human beings. In our society, people with disabilities should not be discriminated against for any reason. Persons with disabilities should be the center in matters related to the Anti-Discrimination Act and Human Rights. In addition, it can be said that it is necessary to develop and operate a system suitable for the local government for the disabled in the local community.
