Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of private industry of Chungcheongbuk-do were estimated. GHG emissions were classified by industry and GHG emissions ratio of each industry of Chungcheongbuk-do was found. Characteristics of GHG emissions of Chungcheongbuk-do and GHG mitigation technology were analyzed. To calculate GHG emissions, equations proposed through GHG emissions calculation guidelines published by Korean Energy Agency in 2009 were used. As a result, GHG emissions ratio of cement, semiconductor, paper and petrochemical industry was about 73%, 16%, 5%, and 2% respectively. GHG mitigation technologies of cement, semiconductor and waste were investigated. For cement, amine technology, for semiconductor, scrubber system and for waste, land fill gas utilization were analyzed.

KOptimization and control of wet-end process provide a key solution to improve paper quality and production efficiency at the same time. Wet-end of paper machine is to determine three important influencing factors of papermaking i.e., retention, drainage and formation. Good formation of paper could be made at the cost of deteriorated retention or drainage. In the same manner increase of retention aid could cause the bad formation of paper. It is very important to find a proper retention chemical which may satisfy one of three factors without the sacrifice of other two. Laboratory scale analyzing or screening chemical additives of wet-end was reported in this study based on RDA sheet molding. Different from the conventional test method, simultaneous consideration of three important wet-end properties could be made by RDA and consequently more reliable prediction of actual paper machine wet-end could be expected.

High-tech microelectronics industry is known as one of the most chemical-intensive industries. In Korea, Microelectronics industry occupied 38% of export and 16% of working employees work in microelectronics industry. But, chemical information and health hazards of high-tech microelectronics manufacturing are poorly understood because of rapid development and its penchant for secrecy. We need to investigate on chemical use and exposure control. We Site-visits to 6 high-tech microelectronics manufacturing company which have cleanroom work using over 1,000kg organic solvents (5 semi-conductor chips and its related parts company, 1 liquid crystal display (LCD)). We reviewed their data on chemical use and ventilation system, and measured TVOCs (Total Volatile Organic Compounds) and carbon dioxide concentration. All cleanroom air passed through hepa filters to acheive low particle levels and only 1 cleanroom uses carbon filters to minimize the organic solvents exposures In TVOC screening test, Cleanroom for semi-conductor chips and its related parts company with laminar down flow system (e.g. class 1~100) showed nondetectable level of TVOCs concentration, but Cleanroom for liquid crystal display (LCD) with conventional flow system (e.g. class 1,000~10,000) showed 327 ppm as TVOCs. Acetone concentration in cleanroom for Jig cleaning, LC Injection, Sealing processes were 18.488ppm (n=14), 49.762 ppm (n=15), 8.656 ppm (n=14) as arithmetric mean. Acetone concentration in cleanroom for LCD inspection process was 40ppm (n=55) as geometric mean, where the range was 7.8~128.7ppm and weakly correlated with ventilation rate efficiency(r=0.44, p<0.05). To control organic solvents in cleanrooms, chemical and carbon filters should be installed with hepa filters. Even though their volatile organic compounds concentration was not exceed to occupational exposure limits, considering of entrance limited cleanroom environment, long-term period exposure effects and adverse health effects of cleanroom worker need further reseach.

We report the fabrication of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) via spray coating of electrochemically exfoliated graphene (EEG) and conducting polymer hybrid as electrodes. To reduce the roughness and sheet resistance of the EEG electrodes, subsequent coating of conducting polymer (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)) and acid treatment was performed. After that, active channel layer was developed by spin coating of semiconducting poly(3-hexylthiophene) on the hybrid electrodes to define the bottom gate bottom contact configuration. The OFET devices with the EEG/PEDOT:PSS hybrid electrodes showed a reasonable electrical performances (field effect mobility = $0.15cm^2V^{-1}\;s^{-1}$, on/off current ratio = $10^2$, and threshold voltage = -1.57V). Furthermore, the flexible OFET devices based on the Polydimethlsiloxane (PDMS) substrate and ion gel dielectric layer exhibited higher electrical performances (field effect mobility = $6.32cm^2V^{-1}\;s^{-1}$, on/off current ratio = $10^3$, and threshold voltage = -1.06V) and excellent electrical stability until 1000 cycles of bending test, which means that the hybrid electrode is applicable to various organic electronic devices, such as flexible OFETs, supercapacitors, organic sensors, and actuators.
The effluent limitations for individual industry based on the best available technology economically achievable (BAT) have been required to achieve effective regulation. BAT assessment criteria that are suitable for the circumstances of Korean industry were developed in the previous study. The criteria were applied to determine the BAT for leather tanning and finishing industry. For the evaluation BAT, a subcategorization for the industry considering wastewater characteristics, source equipments, raw material and so on should be suggested. Three subcategories: A) Unharing, Chrome Tan, Retan-Wet Finish, B) Chrome Tan, Retan-Wet Finish, and C) Furskins were proposed in this study. Wastewater discharged from the each category contains high concentration of COD, chrome, nitrogen and sulfide. In particular, the concentration of nitrogen from the subcategory A is significantly greater. Twenty sites were surveyed and wastewater qualities were analyzed. Therefore, six different technologies were applied to the subcategory A for the end-of-pipe treatment technology, and a technology was used in the subcategory B and C, respectively. The technology candidates were evaluated in terms of environmental impacts, economically achievability, treatment performance and economical reasonability. As the result, the technology options for each subcategories: A) primary chemical precipitation + modified Ludzack-Ettinger process (MLE) + secondary chemical precipitation, B) chemical precipitation + typical activated-sludge process + Fenton oxidation, C) chemical precipitation + typical activated-sludge process + batch Fenton oxidation or batch activated carbon treatment were selected as the BAT, respectively.
The production of various commodity chemicals including fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, bulk chemicals, plastics, and fuels is based on fossil resources such as petroleum. However, the limited reserves and ever-increasing demand of petroleum lead to the rapid elevation of its price. In addition, the traditional chemical processes using petroleum as a raw material have been imposing a serious environmental burden to our planet including global warming. These problems can be alleviated substantially by employing biological raw materials and bioconversion processes. Industrial biotechnology is expected to significantly complement or replace the current petroleum-based industry and to play an important role in bringing about so-called 'bio-based society'.
