Efficient removal of radioactive waste from solution by two-dimensional activated carbon/Nano hydroxyapatite composites

  • The nano/micro composites with highly porous surface area have attracted of great interest, particularly the synthesis of porous and thin film sheets of high performance. In this paper, an easy method of cost-effective synthesis of thin film ceramic fiber membranes based on Hydroxyapatite, and activated carbon by turned into studied to be applied within the service-facilitated the transport of radioactive waste such as $^{90}Sr$, $^{137}Cs$ and $^{60}Co$) as activated product of radioisotopes from ETRR-2 research reactor and dissolved in 3M $HNO_3$, across a thin flat-sheet supported liquid membrane (TFSSLM). Radionuclides are transported from alkaline pH values. The presence of sodium salts in the aqueous media improves in $HNO_3$, the lowering of permeability because the initial $HNO_3$ concentration is improved. The study some parameters on the thin sheet ceramic supported liquid membrane. EDTA as stripping phase concentration, time of extraction and temperature were studied. The study of maximum permeability of radioisotopes for all parameters. The pertraction of a radioactive waste solution from nitrate medium were examined at the optimized conditions. Under the optimum experimental 98.6-99.9% of $^{90}Sr$, 79.65-80.3% of $^{137}Cs$ and $^{60}Co$ 45.5-55.5% in 90-110 min with were extracted in 10-30 min, respectively. The process of diffusion in liquid membranes is governed by the chemical diffusion process.

  • The crack formation and the resistance of ITO film on PET substrate with a thickness of 20 nm were investigated as a function of strain. The onset strain for the increase of resistance increased with increasing strain rate, suggesting the crack initiation is dependent on the strain rate. Electrical resistance increased at the strain of 1.6% at the strain rates below $10^{-4}/sec$ while it increased at ${\sim}2%$ at the strain rates above $10^{-3}/sec$. The critical strain at which the cracks were formed is close to the proportional limit. Upon loading, the initial cracks perpendicular to the tensile axis were observed and propagated the whole sample width with increasing strain. The spacing between horizontal cracks is thought to be determined by the fracture strength and the interfacial strength between ITO and PET. The crack density increased with increasing strain. However, the effect of the strain rate on the crack density was less pronounced in ITO/PET with 20 nm ITO thickness than ITO/PET with 125 nm ITO thickness, the strength of ITO film is thought to increase as the thickness on ITO film decreases. The absence of cracks on ITO film at a strain as close as 1.5% can be attributed to the compressive residual stress of ITO film which was developed during cooling after the coating process. The higher critical strain for the onset of the resistance increase and the crack initiation of ITO/PET with a thinner ITO film (20 nm) can be linked with the higher strength of the thinner ITO film.

세라믹섬유지의 제조 및 슬러리 분산특성 (Dispersion Characteristics of Slurry and Preparation of Ceramic Paper)

  • $Al_2O_3-SiO_2$계 세라믹 화이버를 주원료로 하는 세라믹섬유지를 제조하기 위하여 스러리 점도변화에 따른 세라믹화이버의 침강특성과 pH 변화에 따른 제타전위의 변화와 세라믹화이버 분산특성과의 관계를 분석하였다. 슬러리에서 세라믹화이버의 해섬 및 분산을 위한 슬러리 적정 점도는 28~31 cps이었고, pH 변화에 따라 제타전위는 민감하게 변화하여 pH 7.5~9.5에서 -35~-36 mV로 최대치를 나타내었으며, 이때 세라믹화이버의 침강량도 가장 적게 나타나 슬러리의 제타전위가 증가함에 따라 세라믹화이버의 분산도 잘 이루어짐을 알 수 있었다. 습식초지공정 중 흡입탈수는 함수율 83 wt% 이상으로 유지시켜야 바인더 손실을 막을 수 있었으며, 압축탈수 후 함수율이 62wt% 미만이 되어야 습식회수가 가능하였다. 제조된 세라믹섬유지는 인장강도 $102 kgf/cm^2$, 평량 $98 g/m^2$를 나타내었다.

  • [ $TiO_2$ ] nanotubes for photocatalytic application have been synthesized by hydrothermal method. $TiO_2$ nanotubes are formed by washing process after reaction in alkalic solution. Nanotubes with different morphology have been fabricated by changing NaOH concentration, temperature and time. $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were treated inside NaOH aqueous solution in a Teflon vessel at $110^{\circ}C$ for 20 h, after which they were washed with HCl aqueous solution and deionized water. Nanotube with the most perfect morphology was formed from 0.1 N HCl washing treatment. $TiO_2$ nanotube was also obtained when the precursor was washed with other washing solutions such as $NH_4OH$, NaCl, $K_2SO_4$, and $Na_2SO_3$. Therefore, it was suggested that $Na^+$ ion combined inside the precursor compound slowly comes out from the structure, leaving nanosheet morphology of $TiO_2$ compounds, which in turn become the nanotube in the presence of hydroxyl ion. To stabilize the sheet morphology, the different type of washing treatment solution might be considered such as amine class compounds.

RuO2-유리 복합분말을 이용하여 제조된 후막 저항의 전기적 특성 연구 (Electrical Properties of Thick-Film Resistor Prepared by Using RuO2-Glass Composite Powder)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the electrical properties of thick-film resistor (TFR) prepared from $CaO-ZnO-B_2O_3-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ (CZBAS) glass containing $RuO_2$ particles. $RuO_2$-glass composite powder was made by mixing and melting oxide powders of constituents. For comparison, $RuO_2$ powder was simply mixed with glass powder. $RuO_2$-40wt% glass composite and mixture were dispersed in an organic binder to obtain printable resistor paste and then thick-film was formed by screen printing, followed by sintering at the range between $750^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ for 10 min with a heating rate of $50^{\circ}C/min$ in an ambient atmosphere. $RuO_2$-glass composite sample showed much higher resistance compared to the simple mixed sample. This could be attributed to the difference in conducting mechanism. After sintering at $850^{\circ}C$, temperature coefficient of resistance of composite sample was lower than that of simple-mixed sample. TFR with dense and homogeneous microstructure could be obtained by using $RuO_2$-glass composite powder.

Fluorine 함유 Glass Ceramics를 이용한 저온 소결기판 제조 및 기판의 특성 평가 (Manufacture and Characterization of Low Firing Temperatur Substrate using Glass Ceramics with Fluorine)

  • Lithium fluorhectorite 결정상을 함유한 glass ceramics 분말의 형성과 제조된 glass ceramics 분말을 이용한 저온 소결기판의 특성평가를 하였다. Li2O-MgO-MgF2-SiO2 계 유 리로 핵형성 및 결정 성장을 실시하여 lithium fluorhectorite 결정상을 지닌 glass ceramics 를 제조하였다. 유리시편의 핵형성 온도는 46$0^{\circ}C$였고 결정성장온도는 600, 640, 110$0^{\circ}C$에서 나타났다. $600^{\circ}C$에서의 결정상으 Li2.4LiSi4O10F2가 나타났다. Li2.4Mg8LiSi4와 Li2.8Mg0.6SiO4은 lithium fluorhectorite 결정상으로 되기 위한 중간상임을 확인할수 있었다. 64$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리 후 110$0^{\circ}C$에서 재열처리하여 형성된 결정은 lithium fluorhectorite 와 tridymite가 최종 결정 상으로 나타났다. 이것은 수중에서 water swelling 현상에 의하여 분말화할 수 있었다, 기판 제조용 slurry를 제조하기 위해 glass ceramics 분말에 Al2O3분말을 0,25,50wt%로 혼합한것 과 glass ceramics 분말에 potashborosilica-te glass 분말을 15, 30, 45, 60 wt% 로 배합하 여 doctor blade 법으로 green sheet를 제조하였다. green sheet 는 950~150$0^{\circ}C$로소성하여 기판의 특성을 평가하였다. 겉보기 기공율은 3.06~19,14%이었고, 전기적 특성으로 유전상수 는 3~5(100KHz)를 나타내었다.

  • 용융탄산염 연료전지(Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell)용 알루미나 화이버 강화 ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 매트릭스의 적층방법에 따른 미세구조 변화 및 강도 증진 효과에 대하여 연구하였다. 테이프 캐스팅법으로 제조한 green sheet 2장을 45$^{\circ}C$에서 1kg/$ extrm{cm}^2$의 압력으로 1분간 hot pressing 하여 제조한 적층 매트릭스와 double casting 시 1단계 캐스팅한 green sheet를 3.5 시간 정도 건조한 뒤 2 단계 캐스팅 하여 제조한 적층 매트릭스의 기공율은 모두 50% 이상이었다. 알루미나 화이버 강화 적층 매트릭스의 강도는 비적층 매트릭스(115gf/$ extrm{mm}^2$)에 비해 70% 이상 증진되었으며 적층에 의해 화이버 배향성에 따른 강도의 편향성을 제거할 수 있었다. Triple casting에 의한 적층 메트릭스의 강도는 double casting 시에 비해 약간 증진되었으나 캐스팅 방향에 따른 강도의 편향성이 존재할 뿐만 아니라 기공율도 50% 이하였다. Double casting에 의한 적층 매트릭스의 강도 (195 gf/$\textrm{mm}^2$)는 hot pressing 하여 제조한 매트릭스 (212gf/$\textrm{mm}^2$)에 비해 약간 낮지만 MCFC 매트릭스 제조공정 면에서 double casting 법이 효율적인 적층공정으로 평가되었다.

Properties of IZTO Thin Films on Glass with Different Thickness of SiO2 Buffer Layer

  • The properties of the IZTO thin films on the glass were studied with a variation of the $SiO_2$ buffer layer thickness. $SiO_2$ buffer layers were deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) on the glass, and the In-Zn-Tin-Oxide (IZTO) thin films were deposited on the buffer layer by RF magnetron sputtering. All the IZTO thin films with the $SiO_2$ buffer layer are shown to be amorphous. Optimum $SiO_2$ buffer layer thickness was obtained through analyzing the structural, morphological, electrical, and optical properties of the IZTO thin films. As a result, the IZTO surface roughness is 0.273 nm with a sheet resistance of $25.32{\Omega}/sq$ and the average transmittance is 82.51% in the visible region, at a $SiO_2$ buffer layer thickness of 40 nm. The result indicates that the uniformity of surface and the properties of the IZTO thin film on the glass were improved by employing the $SiO_2$ buffer layer and the IZTO thin film can be applied well to the transparent conductive oxide for display devices.

고압 적층 칩 캐패시터의 유전체 두께 및 내부전극 형상에 따른 AC, DC 절연 파괴 특성 (The AC, DC Dielectric Breakdown Characteristics according to Dielectric Thickness and Inner Electrode Pattern of High Voltage Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor)

  • High voltage multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) are classified into two classes-those for temperature compensation (class I) and high dielectric constant materials (class II). We manufactured high voltage MLCC with temperature coefficient characteristics of C0G and X7R and studied the characteristics of electric properties. Also we studied the characteristics of dielectric breakdown voltage (V) as the variation of thickness in the green sheet and how to pattern the internal electrodes. The dielectric breakdown by electric field was caused by defects in the dielectric materials and dielectric/electrode interface, so the dielectric thickness increased, the withstanding voltage per unit (E) thickness decreased. To overcome this problem, we selected the special design like as floating electrode and this design affected the increasing breakdown voltage(V) and realized the constant withstanding voltage per unit thickness(E). From these results, high voltage application of MLCCs can be expanded and the rated voltage can also be develop.

Build and Performance Test of a 3-cell Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Stack

  • A 3-cell stacked anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell was designed and fabricated to achieve a complete gas seal and the facile stacking of components. The stack was assembled with a unit cell with $10{\times}10cm^2$ area, and each cell was interconnected by a stainless steel 430 separator using a proprietary sealant sheet. The stack performance was examined at various gas flow rates of $H_2+3.5vol%\;H_2O$, and air at a fixed temperature of $800^{\circ}C$. No gas leakage was found from the sealing between cells and inter-connects within a measurement system in this research during a prolonged time of 500 h in operation. The test resulted in an open circuit voltage of 3.12 V, a peak power of 149 W, and a power density of $0.61W/cm^2$, while the long term durability of the power showed 19.1% degradation during the prolonged time of 500 h when tested at $800^{\circ}C$.
